  1. I bought some custom overhead switch panels that were made for the 240z off ebay on a whim. I kind of thought they might be cool and I'd never seen any before so I bought them. No I have them and they seem pretty cool but I'm striking out on ideas of things to do with them. The AC system I'm installing has an electronic control piece so I thought that might be cool especially with the lack of space in that center dash area(I have a double din radio). Also thinking I'm going to install some lights and do away with the little dome light. It came with 3 sets of them and one of them has the seatbelt lights installed in it which might be a cool idea. Just figured I would throw it out to you guys, see if you had any ideas. Thanks Stephen
  2. Alright, so I've been battling a headlight issue for a couple weeks and I added another layer to it today. The headlights have been working sporatically so I thought I had a problem in my switch and planned to replace it. But I decided this weekend to install my new speedhut gauges. I removed the dash to make it easier, wired up the gauges. I ran a power wire to the fuse box(this is an aftermarket fuse box, not the original). I hook everything back up and it works perfectly, not only that but the headlights are back on. Then 5 minutes later...everything just stops. The gauges aren't getting power anymore and the headlights are gone. As a side note, everything else works. The brake lights, turn signals, even the running lights and the tail lights come on when I flip on the headlights. Just the headlights and the gauges aren't responding. I feel like maybe this isn't the switch now and it may be something easy. When I turn the switch for the headlights, there is a clicking in what looks like the original relay under the glove compartment. Fuses are all good. I feel like this might be something simple I'm overlooking. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Stephen
  3. Thanks Bloz, I had to order one of those.
  4. Thanks Bloz, I had to order one of those.
  5. There are more pictures if you scroll over, there are holes in the floor pans. I just thought maybe I wasn't seeing something rare or sought after lol
  6. This to me looks like at most a parts car, what in the world am I missing that's making it go to almost $4000? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-Z-Series-240-z-1972-nissan-240-z-base-2-4-l-/131432571677?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1e99fde31d&item=131432571677&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
  7. I just put the 4.5 inch gauges in mine. They fit very well into the carriers but you will have to find a way to hold them in. I used a combination of pvc pipe and screws but the guy who sells them in the group buys forum said he used hot glue. Here are a couple pictures of them mounted into the carriers. http://imgur.com/RvUWuFc http://imgur.com/G0AumuF
  8. You can't really see it but I used PVC pipe. I put the guages in, then slid 4" pipe over it, marked it, then cut some rings. I put the ring back in, marked where the screws wnet., drilled it out and then used the original screws.
  9. Seriously, $1100 for that is a joke. I'd honestly question paying $500 for it. I just dont know if you can pull that amount of parts out of it. By the time you fix the problems with the parts you can use, you probably could have bought them cheaper.
  10. I received my gauges last week. I was able to mount them in the original guage holders this weekend. They look great and they came with everything to make a nice easy hookup. I will let you know if I run into any issues but so far I'm very happy with my purchase. Here are some pictures. http://imgur.com/RvUWuFc http://imgur.com/G0AumuF
  11. Just wondering if you got these in? Did they fit the seat frames? Thanks Stephen
  12. Thanks texis30O, I redid all the wires, hooked it back up today. Lights and windshield wipers both working.
  13. Plata, I too like you lost the little blue "Donating Members" letters below my name recently. But I'm still winning because I have existing threads in the for sale section. So I'm thinking of myself as a residual donating member. At least until I sell something and the guilt eats at me and I donate again.
  14. I'm not sure where to put this or if I'm supposed to put it anywhere. I just picked one of these up and I know that lots of people roll their Z fenders so hopefully it helps others out. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Eastwood-Fender-Roller-Lip-Forming-Rolling-Tool-for-Larger-Tires-/361205200781?customid=4e487fa7d070486990a7a707ed24f42c&pub=5574652453&afepn=5335869999&campid=5335869999&icep_id=117&ipn=icep&afepn=5335869999&rmvSB=true
  15. Yes sir, I believe so. I need to hook it all up but I see where they go now. I never would have guessed that red goes to black so that's likely my problem lol 300 lbs huh? So a small gathering of 3-4 friends? Ha!
  16. Thanks guys, the colors on the wiring harness don't really match the colors coming in aside from the connector. A picture would be great Texis, I will send you my email. That sounds like a lot of crawfish but next time you're out this way I will feed you all you can eat.
  17. Ok, so I'm dealing with a crappy situation. My dog, who I used to love very much, got hold of my headlight switch and chewed the wiring harness. I was able to reconnect the connector but I'm not sure where everything else plugs in under the dash. I looked at the wiring diagram but I can't determine where a couple of the wires go. This was simple before when they had connectors. I have a solid red, a red with blue line and a blue with white line that I 'm not sure where they connect. If someone can take a picture or let me know what color wires those hook up to? Thanks

Well, I'd say he probably earned it at least on a local level. Almost anybody in Baton Rouge that knows anything about Z's brings him up when I say I have one. I did get a little insight in that phone call yesterday. Apparently, he was doing pretty well converting cars through out the south during the 80s. But one of the guys who bought one was going a little too fast and lost control. He crossed the median and hit someone head on. After that, he closed his shop and opened an inspection business out in front of it. He bought the wrecked car to help out the family, stored it away in the shop and apparently it's still there. He told me he has stacks of stuff in that shop that he was going to show me and I was told his widow will likely want to get rid of it. I'm going to wait a while but I will ask her if she needs any help sorting through it.

Well to pull the thread back to its original intent, I just received a phone call that the man above known as King Z passed away from a heart attack this past weekend. He may have been a little rough around the edges but he will be missed.

I hear that, I told my wife I need her to follow me. She's not so excited about the idea.
  22. Hey, it's a long way away from you but this poor guy near me has had this car on craigslist for 2 years+. He started at 13k and he's down to 7k. I haven't look at it but the couple of people I know that have said it looks great but it's just too overpowered. It has a 383 in it. Might be what you're looking for and he might take a little less for it now. http://neworleans.craigslist.org/cto/4857679362.html
  23. Sorry dreco, I wasn't aware of this but it needs to be a series 1 switch. I didn't realize they changed the switches. But if you have one, I'm definitely interested.

Got a nasty transmission leak and new fuel line to run to get it mine on the road but I should fix those this weekend. I'm shooting to have the interior done for the show in April. Thinking about making the drive to Memphis for the ZCon in July if my AC is installed and working by then.
