  1. I'll let you know tomorrow,
  2. LOL, Actually I don't think she would really care, the bigger issue is where to park the car while working on it. heh, Hey Jeff, I figured you might chime in, I was planning on calling the guy and checking the car out this evening, If your free perhaps we could hook up and take a look at the Z together.
  3. Hmm, the wife would kill me, I've already got 2 280zx parts car, A 90 olds 4 banger that needs to be sold, a 92 Tracker that needs a distributer, the wife has a 84 camaro for her rebuild project as well as the two daily driver cars we have now. BUT Dang, it would be worth a look to see what this one looks like! Besides the wife is on vacation visiting family in New York and won't be back till the 13th!! http://www.zcar.com/classifieds/index.php?method=showdetails&list=advertisement&rollid=492&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&fromfromid=29&[/url]
  4. Shoot, I'll take the hood, I'll even swap you a stock hood for it!, I also have a pair of front quarter panels of a 82 280zx coupe as well.
  5. I'm picking up a set of 240 9mm rods for $150 from a local guy! I think they even include the 240 pistons.
  6. is the oil pressure sender gauge the part that sits right next to the oil filter on the 83 280zx? I think I shorted mine out when changing the oil last weekend.
  7. ALthough I don't own a gun and considering my temper when I was much younger its a good thing I didnt. I have considered several times on the fact that I really don't know how to handle a handgun and thought about taking some classes and perhaps buying one for target only. Just so I would feel comfortable if a suitation came about and I ended up with one in my hand! On the other hand I have spent many years studing a combat style martial arts and feel quite comfortable that for most suitations I would not ever need to handle a gun.
  8. The specs on the car look good, but I really hate that wing! it looks way to ricey for me, but then again thats the look and the crowd their going for! If Im going to spend that kind of money I'd rather pick up a new 350Z At least it would look good sitting next to my 280zx
  9. Ouch, sounds like a good runner up for the Darwin awards!
  10. Car runs fine after the first bit of hesitation, After the car has warmed up it doesn't seem to do it at all. This car has been stored for a few years and is just now back on the road With new plugs, injectors, removed and cleaned the fuel rail, fuel filter, fuel pump, sending unit, new gas tank.
  11. I read an article somewhere about an idle adjustment you can make if your car has a slight hesitation when given gas from an idle position. Of course I failed to print the article and have no idea where I read it. A black switch box on the throttle body/AFM??? something about a contact needing adjustment? If anyone knows what Im talking about can you point me in the right direction? Thanks John
  12. I have a good sending unit with the strainer if you need one.
  13. I just got my 83 280zx running good after it had been sitting for a year or more. Their is a strainer in the fuel tank on the sending unit. You will need to pull it out, clean the sending unit. If the gas was that bad then the sending unit will be totally clogged! The fuel rail will also most likely be clogged to some extent. I had to pull the fuel rail this past weekend and clean it out then replace my injectors. Their is also a fuel damper near the fuel pump that may also need replacing.
  14. Sorry I meant issue as how will the ECU handle the increase in airflow? will stock injectors push enough fuel to offset the increased airflow? issues along that line.
  15. I have an additional question about using the 240sx throttle body on my ZX. What issues will I run into if I do this mod to a stock 83 280zx NA? the only modification I've done so far is a K&N forced air intake.
  16. Actually the speedo should be able to go higher than 99, if you switch it to KPH it goes to 130 or something. I have a donor car that has the digital speedo in it, Im hoping to pull it out this weekend and bring it to work. The company I work for does a great deal of embedded programming so they have equipment and software to possably read the chip and if so re-program it.
  17. Thanks, that was exactly what I was looking for.
  18. Whats the best method for removing and cleaning fuel Injectors?
  19. Oh no, my wife calls me up and says she found a car she wants, 93 300zx black, for 7k I think she said! Not sure how this is going to play out, She usually gets what she wants.
  20. 280Zen

    really nice header

Can sombody post the link to this Spirit Garage? I've spent the last 30 minutes doing searches both google and came up empty, Even did a search on this site and the search function didn't even return this thread
  21. Ah, my spring shot of Zness to read and re-read for the next couple months! I just wish they would wrap the mag before shipping. The wife said it was folded and slightly wet in the mailbox
  22. Pulled the gas tank off the donor car, both it and the sending unit were super clean inside. Drained 90% of the gas and pulled the tank off the coupe, after the gas sloshed around in the tank a bit it was a milky brown nasty color, real bad! anyway, after putting the donor tank on and putting clean gas in the car runs great! no hesitation, backfire. Now I just need to figure out what happened to the clutch.
  23. Its for a right hand drive Fairlady, Square Port Exhaust. Does anyone know if it would work for a 83 280zx? Could things be rearanged to make it fit?
  24. What are we talking about here cost wise for a shop to clean and coat?? I also have a 83 2x2 donor car that was running before I took the valve cover off, I was also thinking about dropping that tank and taking a look at it as a possable replacment for the current one.
  25. Ok Folks, removed and cleaned the whole sending unit, fuel screen was totally clogged, the fuel line/return line was also gummed up real bad. After replacing the unit I let the car idle for about 1/2 hour then took her up and down the block about a dozen times, She ran great. After turning the engine off and restarting her she started hesitating and idling ruff again. I took a look down into the tank while the sending unit was removed and could see what looked like rust/junk sitting on the bottom of the tank so I assume some of that gunk is being sucked into the fuel screen and clogging up the works again. So Saturday is drop and clean the tank day! Does anyone have any tips to make this job any easier? How about good ideas on cleaning the tank out. I was planning on using a air compressor to blow all the junk out.
