  1. According to past posts it seems that the P90A head hydraulic lifters are not available at all. I talked to a good friend today that works for Discount Auto Parts and according to him although Nissan no longer makes the Hydraulic lifters for the 83 P90A head they are available from other sources, I'll get a part number later today for anyone interested.
  2. That'll make it much easier for me. I'll take a look this evening. Thanks
  3. The fuel filter was totally clogged up so I replaced that, The spark plugs were pretty fouled so I replaced those as well as the plug wires. The car ran great for a day or so then did the same thing. So now I will drop the fuel tank and clean both it and the fuel pickup/float line and clean it all out. So, How big a job is dropping the tank?
  4. Oh, bummer, not really what I was looking for. Sorry Im bowing out.
  5. To funny! Now for the other side of this coin! I am just getting into this hobby after a friend gives me his 83 280zx. The most mechanical work I've ever done on car is general tuneups and replacing oil sensors and such. Anyway, my bud gives me his car so I start looking at restoring and doing my research I find this and a few other boards. Now Im thinking I'll just rebuild this puppy to be a 400+hp sleeper. So Im buying books and learning whats what on an engine asking questions and such, I've got tons to learn! right, no problem It will take a few years but were not talking quantium physics here Anyway my father inlaw is an old time shade tree chevy spoutin carberator know it all! and he has been just laying into me for wanting to rebuild the damn jap scrap car with its POS toy engine and push it to its limits. He thinks Im stupid for dumping all this money in a 6 cylindar engine, he's offered to give me a chevy small block v8 to put in the car, but only if I do a carberator cause he doesn't understand fuel injection or the computers that run them. All his ranting is doing is giving me the drive to sink what ever its going to cost to build someting thats going to shut him up. So the garage door stays shut, Im learning to do my own work! There will be a few things that I will have a professional shop do so I know its done right! and keep my mouth shut and keep reading, learning and listening to you guys!
  6. chimed in a bit late here, but today while on a business trip flight today I happend to bring corky bell's "maximum boost" book and the couple of paragraphs he wrote on the subject says something along the line that water injection is not really necessary for the properly built turbo engine! I'll dig the book out tonight at the hotel and write down his words for anyone that doesn't have the book and post them.
  7. one quick question, which year dash are we talking about here?
  8. Just thought of something, When you turn your key to the on position the fuel pump does kick on for a minute then stops unless you crank the car. You gotta love it when you answer your own questions!
  9. My 83 280zx NA is having a few strange problems, This car was sitting for well over a year or more before given to me. The fuel pump and fuel relay were bad so I replaced them. After that the car ran fine for a week but with a bit of hesitation which I was chalking up to clogged injectors. But today while driving home it started bogging down when I stepped on the gas then stalled out on me, after pushing it home I started testing a few things. I disconnectd the fuel line from the fuel filter to the engine and got very little gas out when the ignition was turned to the on position, I got much more fuel out the line before the fuel filter! Possable bad fuel filter I then tested the voltage to the pump while the ignition was in the on position and got aprox 12 volts but suddenly the pump quit and the voltage dropped to 0. Not sure why I then hotwired the fuel pump to the battery and the car started and ran fine for about 15 minutes then stalled out at idle, when i checked the pump was not pumping and no voltage. any clues would be helpful, right now I have 3 dead cars in my driveway
  10. I'd be interested in a carbon fiber, but my parts money is tapped for another month or so!
  11. My tach doesnt jump but the larger needle on my 83 280zx fuel gauge jumps all over! the smaller 1/4 tank gauge works great though
  12. I would think that if you cover the metal parts with POR-15 then you would not have the rust issue and then could use the body foam. Last months issue of Turbo had a blurb on body foam. Ziebart coating also works very well against rusting, The origional owner of my 83 280zx had the car Ziebart coated. The only spots that actually showed rust was where the paint chipped away on the front hood and top by the window. The rest of the cars undercoating and interior metal is in perfect condition. 3M also makes a spray on coating that works very well against rusting, Can't remember the name of the product though.
  13. Is there anybody on this board that could make a spacer for a 240sx throttle body for my 280zx upgrade?
  14. I called and spoke to them for awhile, Yes they can do the gauges for a 280zx BUT.... since they do not have a template on hand right now, you would have to send your faces in so they can duplicate them. give them a call, they were very friendly and helpful. If I remember correctly they also said they would only replace the gauges that that were still factory, so If you've done any mods or your own decal then you may be out of luck.
  15. Nice, Now besides the coolness factor! what performance gains will that give me If Im going to drop $1800 on one? Hey Jeff, I sent you an Email on that 3" exhaust, Put me on the list if you get enough folks to have them built. John White
  16. If your not that handy with designing your own white face gauges or really would rather have something more like the indiglo, or reverse glow gauges check these folks out. http://www.mmrusa.com/nissangauges.htm I spoke to them awhile ago, For $95 send them your gauges and they will replace them with theirs. for $130 you could even have custom markings.
  17. LOL, My wife has a project car as well. A 1984 camaro. It used to be automatic, but she has sold the engine and tranny and just the other day picked up a old 010 4 bolt main nickle block that, after the heads were removed we found out it is punched 30 over! With the crankshaft and cam she has picked out this should be pretty nice! If the frame can handle it. So in a few months if you live in central Florida and see a purple 84 camaro with gray stripes! watch out! Blond at the wheel! The guy she has rebuilding it with her is very knowledable and has said this should push about 450hp when they are done! At least she is paying for this project with her play money!
  18. I'll have to take a pic of my father-inlaw's house! You never seen anything this bad!
  19. Now, for the next couple questions to this! How much Torque, HP will this engine put out in that camaro? Giving stock pistons, crankshaft, cam, carbs, exhaust And what will I need to do to my 280zx coupe, F54 block, P90 head to take her in a quarter mile run. Nope not going to do a V8 conversion!
  20. Thanks, yes its a 4 bolt, high nickle content. Bummer the wife snatched it for $500 to put in her 84 camaro shes rebuilding. Pulled the heads off last night and found out its punched out 30 over. Also found out is was previously used in a boat!
  21. Has anyone heard of a 010 block? if so whats so special about them? and would it be worth dropping into a 280zx?
  22. ??, Will those gauges work for the 83 280zx?
  23. What model/brand Intercooler is about the biggest you can fit into a 81/83 280zx anyway? Im starting my search for one but dont know whats what! My goal is to take my 83 coupe NA and put a T4 turbo on it but with the hot summers we get here in Florida I don't ever want to have issues using it as a daily driver in traffic either.
  24. Thanks guys, The 2x2 is a parts car! the frame rail is rusted and crushed in at one point, Looks like someone tried to jack it up but the rusted rail wouldnt hold. Anyway, the coupe is in excellent shape so the turbo stuff is going into the coupe.
  25. Dont know S307 Bushido, Email him and ask,
