  1. I have the oportunity to purchase a 86 300z NA 5spd for $300 What do I need to look for before buying another Z to sit in my yard! owner says body is good and no major damage, paint less than 2 years old. Owner did say the engine was blowing smoke (didn't say what color) I haven't seen the car yet, Will be looking at it before friday and if its worth it I'll pick it up. It would give the wife a 5spd to drive so she can quit bugging me to drive my 280zx
  2. For the price Lo-Jack is not a bad deal, Check with the local dealerships most will try to sell Lo-Jack with a new auto/truck purchase. They can give you a great deal of information about it. They would also know how well the police are setup to handle tracing down a auto with Lo-Jack in it.
  3. This will work on the 83 http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1512G&Category_Code=7AP1
  4. Um They did that already, Jesse lost! Running Man, remember
  5. Don't have the part yet! I had called and left told them to call me when they were ready for shipping. I've got to wait till the end of August till I can get mine. My 5th year Anniversery is in 3 weeks. Can't be spending all my cash on the car this month The wife would kill me!
  6. Couldn't you just switch heads and go with a later year stock injection system?
  7. received a call late yesterday from Brian at BHJ to let me know the part was finished!
  8. what year are you needing. I have the paint codes with paint "chips" for 82 and 83 280zx's
  9. Nope nothing wrong with my ECU. What I was going to try to do was, Build a pigtail connector to go from the EFI wiring harness to my megasquirt. So rather than rewire my car to use the megasquirt I would plug into the stock wiring and the megasquirt. If things went wrong or had a problem with the megasquirt I could unplug the pigtail harness and plug the stock harness back into the ECU. This would also allow me to tap off the stock harness for the couple of sensors that the Megasquirt doesn't handle, like the Thermotime switch and coldstart. (im running a 83 NA that has those sensors right now).
  10. Has anyone ever seen or know where I could pickup the cable connectors for the stock EFI harness. Im looking for the male connector that is on the stock ECU.
  11. LOL, Like I said I can get those nylon screws for .02 each, also for less than .05 ea I can get the led mounting clips. If folks want I can swing by the surplus store this week sometime and get a bunch of each. Email me with your address and I'll send them out.
  12. Hopefully its not one of those little yellow sheets that those friendly police are always wanting to hand out to people!
  13. Yea in Denver I can understand that! But Florida? How cold does it need to be before that really helps? Of 365 days a year it gets below 60 degrees maybe 30 times total a year.
  14. Thanks, Im looking to rewire a 83 280zx EFI to accomodate the MegaSquirt EFI and Im looking at whats not really needed. Im also going to be doing the 240sx throttle body mod and had not planned on using the coldstart valve, Since I won't be using the coldstart I won't need the thermotime switch. Im not sure but it looks like I won't really need the air regulator as well.
  15. every now and then I've seen those hinge setups advertised on Ebay for cars. Technically the issues I see are Z doors are just to boxy to swing up. The picture above shows how little room there is for egressing the car with those doors. Cosmetically lambo style doors just don't look that good on the Z. Money better spent elswhere.
  16. Ok, I've got a few newbe questions. Air Regulator, Thermotime switch, What do they do? on a 83 280zx NA
  17. Its all fun and games till someone looses an eye Then watch the lawyer sharks move in
  18. Nope The UltraMegasquirt will be a whole new board, several components will be surface mounted.
  19. The next version of the megasquirt will use them.
  20. ok, maybe a stupid question, but if they are the same then why does MSA sell different Rising Rate FPR for the NA and Turbo
  21. Are you sure the com cable is not a cross over cable? Im assuming you checked to make sure your cable was plugged into com1?
  22. I got my Megasquirt assembled this past weekend, tested it with the stimulator, everything is set, finished the relay board yesterday. I have one of the engineers here use the lab and cut my face plates to fit. Now I just need to look up and order enough wiring to wire it up. Of course wiring the system up is going to be the hardest part. I've looked at the haynes manual which has a EFI harness drawing but didn't really get a good feel for whats what! I know one user said he pulled his entire harness and re-wired it for the megasquirt. That would be the way to go I think. what a job that must of been.
  23. Tim, did you get those parts configured correctly? if not here is a link that gives you a better view of the leads.. http://members.shaw.ca/megasquirt/manual/mass.htm scroll down till you find the PN2222A listed.
  24. I've got a ton of those Nylon screws 4/40 there is a electronic used parts supplier here in town that I get them from. If anyone needs them send me an email with your address..
  25. Thanks, Yea I thought it was in the oil pan but none of the manuals or the Datsun service manual mentions it! so I figured Id ask. This is what Im trying to do. Use the turbo oil pressure/temp gauge and the NA volt gauge along with the digital clock on my NA 280zx. I have a turbo oil pan to use. Which brings up my next question, Is the 82/83 turbo oil pan and the NA oil pan the same other than the sensor pickups? The wiring diagrams are fairly easy to follow I know which wire goes where. This should be a fun mod.
