  1. I don't want to buy new brakes and wills don't accomadte my Silvermine motors brake kit
  2. Yea fatigue was defiantly the culprite here. I actually spoke with joe this morning but I couldn't bring myself to spend $1300+ on something that might fail and leave me back at square one. The Z32 looks nice but from what I understand the largest stub shaft you can fit is 1.290 which is the same size as the checkered flag units with less splines. Doesn't really makes sense to me. Today I found out the F-150 CV or "outer stub shaft in wills "ultimate IRS" kit is 1.413 and that is MASSIVE compared to anything Nissan related. If his backing plates where direct copies of the 280 with the larger bore to accommodate the larger hub I would have pulled the trigger already. I'm not sure what to do.
  3. I'm more curious how many times you've made a pass on it at your current WHP rating. Also Everyone is so wrapped up in spline count but I haven't heard much about diameter.. Wills kit uses F-150 CV/stub axles and not once does it mention the diameter of the shaft. I could care less if it had 100 splines. If the shaft was 1/4 thick it's useless. Also sunny do you know how large your Z31 outer stubs are? Do you know the diameter of your inner stubs? Thanks for chiming in.
  4. MM axles with the R230 CV's and stock 27spline stub axles on the driver side outer (what broke) the inner I have no clue as they haven't been removed because they still work. I'm assuming this is a factory piece though as MM never made a billet inner stub axle?
  5. This is my fear. Spending $1500 on stubs and them breaking. Although I'm not a hardcore drag racer, this car has the ability to make 1000Whp and I would like to try and use as much as practically possible. I'd say that puts me out of the "norm"
  6. Luckily the front diff has been addressed. I just fear spending $1500 on stub axles that shit the bed shortly after. Does anyone know the diameter of the F-150/intrepid units will is using in his kit?
  7. I agree. I want to see some more abuse from the outer stubs.. I wouldn't be apposed to buying wills uprights/shock tubes and adapting not them to my curent setup. That way I could be a few steps towards an 8.8 swap. Only problem would be a companion plunge mating the ford 31spline stub axle to my 6 bolt Nissan CV
  8. If you look at checkered flag S/N he has MM website in his signature.. Maybe he did just that?
  9. Agreed. However joe@checkered flag makes some. They are pricey though.. Are you still on the MM rear end?
  10. The real test is a 3-4k launch on a well prepped track/tires. I put 2k hard street miles on mine with out any trouble. 4th pass down a drag strip and boom goes the dynamite.
  11. The car is on 17X11" rims. Those NT05r tires are sticky as hell.. Plus royal purple raceway is one of the best tracks in the country. Minimal wheel hop on the burnout but it's possible they had some fractures from the previous passes (3) Im thinking about buying the checkered flag 39spline stub axles and trying my luck. I was reading through some old threads and saw you bought them back in the day. How did those work for you and when you ended up going 8.8 why didn't you keep them seeing as they are quite a bit larger than any other option out there.
  12. Yeah I've seen both of those. Has anyone else snapped outter stub axles?
  13. So a few of you may know the car from LS1tech. It's the twin turbo 370ci LS 6spd in the FI section. Well this weekend I went to make a Few more shake down passes and ended up snapping the driver side outer stub shaft. This was on a 3k launch (heated NT05r tires) currently the car has the short nose R200 VLSD along with the MM axle upgrades. I'm not sure what stub axles I have as I haven't pulled them yet, pretty sure they are the stock 27spline units. I have a car on my lift at the moment. Well long story short I don't really want to deal with this crap ever again. Habe any of you guys tried the upgraded outer 39 spline stub axles? Anyone broken one? I know there are a few guys beating up the 8.8IRS and we all know a SRA can take the abuse. I'm curious to hear from any other guys who have more than a handful of passes on the 8.8 or other IRS setups. I really don't want to go SRA as A. I don't want to alter factory suspension location (street class rules) B. Going SRA will require a lot of downtime and sheet metal work which I don't want to do. If anyone here is making 800+ on IRS please chime in. I realize this isn't the drivetrain section but I figured the guys who have to worry about stuff like this are lingering in the V8 section anyhow
  14. Anyone keep the R200 diff and use the rest of this stuff? I just snapped a "beefed up" output shaft and don't plan on working with the Nissan stuff anymore. I think the diff is plenty strong but those stubs axles are crap.
  15. What are you expecting to make after all the work
  16. What are you expecting to make after all the worm
  17. I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of 15X8's but I can't decide on a 0 offset or 25.. Going with a 28X10.50 slick with some ZG flares
  18. I did and he said a few guys with the 15's have issues. Just wanting to see what rims to stay away from
  19. Techno you tunning sells one for the short nose. Call Gabriel and ask about it. I will tell you though, mine didn't last long at 400whp.. Well the mount held up but the mounting holes attached to the body ripped like a coke can after a few launches. My solution was to tie the diff mount into the "LCA housing" I'm going to call it. Looks like shit but Problem solved.
  20. Is anyone running the silver mine big brake rear kit and 15" wheels? I think the rear rotors are 11.4". I know some guys are having issues with the 15" wheels Amd I'm curious what the verdict is.
  21. Thanks for all the replies. I just ended up maing my own.
