  1. Got the water pump installed, wow what a mod if i can recommend one. Very cool to be able to run a pump and fan with the engine off Got the new gears installed yesterday too. I'll beat cycle them today Here is the car assembled minus the drag wing. Ill get to that In a few weeks. Going to shake the car down on Friday
  2. I have some 17 inch race star fronts with a radial front runner and outback is another race star and I just picked up the new M/T 325/50/15 et street R drag radials. There getting plastic dipped black this coming weekend then put on the car
  3. It looks great in person. I'm about done with the water pump swap and will get a new alignment on Saturday. Then it's a new gear set in the diff and shake down on the 11th
  4. Final shots of it all sanded and buffed. I'll get it back around 1 tomorrow
  5. Out of the paint booth ready for a little cut and rub
  6. Looks like the 170 speed daddy headers off eBay I ran them on my all motor setup with them up and forward instead of down as they hit some accessors down like that
  7. It can be very inspiring to build a car. I was at this point in January 2015. Do your searching and look at its of pics via Google. I found most all the info I needed Read build threads I tend to go overboard a little on my builds but you are building a car kinda from scratch. You'll be cutting the whole back area open, adding frame rails and suspension. Cage work and motor install. It's best to work backwards to get good driveline angles, meaning getting the axle and tires at ride hight and building from there For reference I spent about 25 weeks building my setup at about 30 hours per week, so about 700 hours from start to driving good. It takes time to do it right, but doing it right is the name of the game. You can look at my project pics in the Project Rex Killer thread
  8. I made my own mounts, but as noted my modified ls3 pan works with an 1-1/2 PC or steel tube welded to the engine cross member with my 4l80e pan just slightly lower I picked up an Fbody dipstick and oil pump tube and took about 1-1/4 off the bottom of the ls3 pan. Works great. Iirc I'm just around 8 quarts of oil with a 51515 filter. I was also able to modify an improved racing pan baffle to work with the shortened setup I also had to slightly angle cut the front of the pan to clear the cross member up front. I'm sure if your running a plastic car intake you could lift it a little but the pan will still be a touch low
  9. Thanks. It sounds really good in the garage, deep v8 sound, not the snappy all motor I had before. Camshaft choice is huge I really like how this motor idles, pretty smooth down to about 725rpm right now Oils are all changed. Br30 and wix 51515 in it now About a week of random things and I'll be driving this
  10. Motors running really well. Nice having a trans brake, can load up the rings in the garage to get them broke in Small vid
  11. Had some rewiring todo this morning. Seems the boost solenoid and internal pull-up Hall effect sensor I use for front vss was keeping the relay panel on. So moved to the ignition switch and all is good now. Working on getting th oil changed and a wee bit more tranny fluid in it
  12. Car fired up tonight Tune is off for sure from the all motor tune it had! Got about 1 min run time right now, going to change the oil tomorrow and get it up to temp and load the motor on the trans brake a little I'll then change the oil out for the joe Gibbs I have for it and work on the tune more
  13. Is it a plug n play unit? There should be base .cals already there for this. That will get it started with the correct input trigger setup and the coils and things. You can scale the injectors to match what your running if different than the .cal Has Aem done anything with autotune fueling? I had a series 2 a couple years back and lacking autotune in the software makes it much more difficult to tune
  14. I don't mind the turbo sticking out the hood a little on this car. My other driver is a total sleeper and have surprised quite a few mustangs and vettes with it. This one was all about the drag race, and me wanting specific things in specific spots, and it worked out the best to poke the turbo out. It seems that my engine bay filled up fast compared to other builds Ive seen
  15. Mechanically this car is done. The wiring is getting a little upgraded now. Should be running be next weekend
  16. I have a buddy with a similar setup. Now it is a sand car application, but the problems could be the same. Under high revs the water pump is under a lot of resistance. The belt would slip most likely heating it up, then with minimum wrap on the crank I'm sure it started slipping too. It seamed the belt would stretch and would get thrown off on a manual gear shift at redline. He made an idler where the stock power steering pump would have been and used the stock idler from an ls1 that's between the alternator and crank to get wrap on the balancer, and wrap on th water pump. Problem was solved Just posting, not knowing your driving style. Cruising around I'm sure it's just fine
