Hey guys. Does anyone happen to have any pics from when they had a fuel injected tank cut apart, shooting straight down into the canister from the top? I'd like to know what that screen looks like on the bottom of the canister that allows the fuel to fill it, or... in my case, restrict from filling it. Below is a pic of the canister i'm talking about. Thanks in advance.

Sent you a PM. Start off simple again... Check that there's 12v on the B/W wire at the coil. This needs to have 12v when the key is in the "ON" position and most importantly, while cranking. -

Looks awesome Joel. Very sharp. When you're ready to get rid those "tiny" ZG's , let me know. Winter's coming so i figure it's time to start cutting my Z up! Again, looks great. Nice job.

Here on the east side, it's pretty rare to see any of our old Z's on the road so you could imagine some of the "unusual" but generally nice comments i get everytime i take the Z for a spin. Here's a good one that just happened to me last week... My uncle flies up 2 weeks ago from GA to do a little salt water fishing down the shore. I decide to meet up with him and figure this is good opportunity to blow the dust off the Z and take her for a nice 2 hour cruise. Get all packed up, give the Z a once over, kiss the wife/kids and head out all fired up for a nice ride. Within the first mile, driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway, doing around 60... she dies. Just shuts down... eveything. Now i knew that the battery was on it's last leg but also knew once she ran for a bit, it would charge enough to start without issue for a week or two after. But now it just shut down. So i coast it over to the shoulder and pop the hood. Some kid in a honda pulls up and asks if i need help "would you happen to have jumper cables?" he replies "i do" me - "cool, pull around front and we'll get this thing fired back up" I disconnect the 8ga power cable to my amp because i know that and the headlights just drained the already halfdead battery and she fires right up with the jump. Thank the kid and he comments on how cool the car is, how the motor looks awesome.. just nice comments. Anyway, i let her run a bit without lights and then off i go - great 2hr solo run. Now here's the funny part - I decide to take my Z to work this past week - first time back out since the shore run, i stop at a light and guess who pulls up? The same Honda kid. I thank him again and he yells back just before the light turns - "DUDE, YOU'VE GOT TO GO ON YOUTUBE AND LOOK FOR A GUY CALLED DARIUS. HE'S RUNNING LIKE 1000HP IN A Z JUST LIKE YOURS!!" So see Darius - you're famous all the way over here in NJ! Lol. BTW - If you do read this, love the new build. Very nice work. Good luck w/it.

Thanks Phil. Glad to see that i wont need to pull the motor outside the garage. Even though they say "lightweight" on their site, they're really not that light at all. 2 guys ok, but i mostly work alone. I'll need to take a closer look at those approach ramps when laying it flat. Without those, the front of the ramps would lift. Looks like they just support under the front edges. Buddy of mine went with a hydrolic lift and gave me the kwiklift system. Couldn't beat the price Believe me, i just got lucky finding this '77 for that price. I bought my '73 over 6 years ago, paid just about the same price and it wasn't (still isn't) near the condition of this one.

Hey all. Which year gas tanks are the same in the 280's? I can't remember when they swapped over to the smaller spare tire and changed the tank shape. The tank in my '77 is shot. The supply hardline inside of the tank has rusted out. I'm thinking '76, '77 and '78's are all the same but i'm not 100% sure. After i know which year tanks are the same, i'll be looking for one if anyone has a tank in good condition. Thanks in advance. - Jersey

Thanks Mike. BTW - i really hope to get to one of your shindigs this year. Would be nice to put some faces to the names! Kwiklift - ummm... good and bad? Good when you need to spend a bunch of time under the car. Really have some space to work (too much sometimes, hard to reach what you need too when lying on your back), safer than jackstands, can do adjustments to suspension from underneath with all 4 corners loaded. Bad when you want to pull the motor with a cherry picker, when you're as short as me (5'7") and wish you wouldn't have too climb on and off the ramp 1000 times to do motor work, when you pull the Z out to work on something else or just need that bay for some other project. They're just not the lightest things to move around, which i never do. When i build the detached garage, i will do it right like Mike (above) did and put a lift in. Best of all worlds. I really need to jump on Kwiklifts site to see if it's ok to take the front stands off to get the ramps to lay flat and drive on them that way. That would help a bunch especially since i'll be pulling this motor soon and would rather not have to do it outside, again! 10 degree weather is too cold for an old man like me!

Thanks guys/chicks I wish i could too Kim!!! lol. Cleaned it up a little more last night, pulled the plugs, dropped some oil in the cylinders, cranked it a few times around by hand. All good so far. I think tonight i'll disconnect the fuel pump, take off air cleaner, pop a battery in it and crank it around a few times off the key. Baby steps. She's been sitting for 14 years and dont want to do any damage. Hoping by the weekend i can get tank cleaned out, new fuel through the system and fire her up. Then the fun begins! Complete drivetrain coming out to really get everything back near 1977 Can't wait!

Thanks guys. I'm hoping we can hook up as well this summer Clive. I'm going to restore this one, then take it from there. Just a real sharp representation of a 21 year old, 60k Z that held up over the years. Not many to be found in this condition on the east coast, for sure. Sorry Jasper but i guess i finally got lucky. I knew i had to jump at the opportunity ASAP. I'll get some more pics up after i've cleaned her all up. - Jersey

'77 280z, all original except for AR wheels (coming off soon!), one owner, 60k miles, basically rust free! Picked it up monday night...
