Don't worry, I've bought them all up and will keep the price "fair."
So I assume you will be selling a pieced together "kit" for those of us having problems snagging a good STi R180?
-
Racer Z... read a few posts above for pricing =)

Correct..
now the dimples on the car allowed the air to stick to the boundary layer.. reducing the low pressure/wake behind the car.. increasing the slipstream.. increasing fuel economy.
Check out the video
http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/mythbusters-dirty-vs-clean-car/

Did anyone watch MythBusters on Discovery last night?!
They covered a car in clay and made dimples on the car like a golf ball.. and there was a 11% increase i believe in fuel economy...
They were joking saying Nascar will now have golf ball shaped cars...
then I started wondering...
Golf balls have been around for how many years?!
Aircraft and Formula One and Nascar teams have all played with vortex generators... but why not shaping the whole body like a golf ball?!
I mean the mythbusters test showed there was a dramatic increase in the reduction of drag?!

Just to give you a rough approximation.. the purchase of a new bottle with C25 (one of the tiny bottles) cost me around $145.
Everytime I get a fill up its about $30. I ended up upgrading to the larger 3 ft tall bottle for an extra $50

John,
I agree to an extent.. but knocking off undercoating for hours and hours at a time.. there is nothing I want to hear about that

I just bought a nicely priced set of Peltor A/O Safety ear muffs/hearing protection for $49 at Home Depot that has a built in AM/FM digital tuner and AUX input!!
I will highly recommend them for working on and fabricating on a car!! Cuts out 22 db and has great music input. The AM/FM radio uses batteries.. but the AUX input from your iPod or MP3 doesnt require any batteries. The radio sucks flat out.. needs a better antenna.
Combine this headset with your blackberry and pandora radio.. and its perfect.
With my car on the rotisserie and working 3-4 hours at a time with a air chisel and 4 1/2" angle grinder it makes life a lot more relaxing.
** I'm not trying to sell this.. but if anyone is looking for a nice headset with hearing protection, its awesome **

RSR he laid up those flares by hand!!
beautiful beautiful fenders =)
-
before you know it.. the car will be on a rotisserie.. i mean if your going to POR-15 or paint the frame rails and new pans.. why not paint the whole underside right?!
thats what happened to me. damnit!!
-
The car is fairly easy to rotate by hand.. standing in the middle of the car and grabbing around the door area... it requires a little bit of muscle...
now the difficult part is when the car is directly on its side.. i literally stand on the frame rails and grab the door sill.. and stand on the car and *literally* jump up and down shifting my weight to rotate it... it was down right scary at first.. but its surprisingly strong and stable!! very surprising lol
I removed my doors and its MUCH easier now!!
Now that slotted offset I made helps quite a bit.. and it does make a difference. If I have the car off balance im screwed.. when the bolts were loose, the car slid down the slots.. and it took two guys to hop on the car and rotate it. ugh. So you have to be careful with those slots.. and make sure the bolts are TIGHT! eeep

If I was a thief.. I would of had that car towed home and parted it out.. I know the wheels are worth a lot.. but imagine selling the engine and transmission?! holy cow
-
Yellow? So you are going for the retro look
Or the GT2 look during the 24 hr le mans events =)
-
this is an awesome thread!!
Thanks for taking a step out there and trying it out!!
Looks like I'll be following your foot steps.. now to find a wicked yellow HID bulb..
-
my God monster..
i would love to wonder around shamelessly in your garage for hours and lay underneath your car and eat popcorn...
what part on your Z haven't you touched and modified and improved?!

stagefumer11 take another pic of that intake?!!!

DOM Tensile Stength = 70,000 psi
Diameter (in) Thickness (in) ID (in) Cross Sect. Area (in^2) Tensile Strength (lbs) Weight (lb/ft)
1.75 0.125 1.50 0.64 44,668 2.169 lb
1.75 0.095 1.56 0.49 34,575 1.596 lb
1.50 0.120 1.26 0.52 36,416 1.769 lb
1.50 0.095 1.31 0.42 29,352 1.426 lb
Wow thats a big difference in weight!! Looks like roughly 40 linear feet of 1.75 x .125 will weigh about 89 pounds versus the .095 wall.. which is 63 pounds!
blah

Jason,
you might want to try Game Stop or one of those small game shops.. they buy old systems and sell them!!
You can prob pick one up for pretty cheap and have a big selection of games!!
-
this sounds silly.. but did you check the fuel filter?! when you pulled the tank and reconnected it, something may have lodged itself in the hose or filter.
but it does sound like a timing problem

Well.. I'm getting ready to start buying the materials for my half cage.. and I'm running into a slight problem...
Here are the required roll cage tubing requirements : (all mild steel)
Rally America - Section 5.5 -
DOM - 1.75 x .095
SCCA - Section 9.4.1 (appendix G) -
DOM - 1500-2500 pounds - 1.5 x .095
Over 2500 pounds - 1.5 x .120 or 1.625 x .120 or 1.75 x .095
NASA CCR - Section - 11.4.7 -
DOM or ERW - Under 2000 pounds - 1.5 x .120
2001 - 3500 pounds - 1.75 x .120
NHRA - NHRA's FAQ website
DOM - 1.625 x .120
Hmm.. seems like if I ever want to explore and have a fun time in any of the sanctioned events.. I should probably go with a 1.75 x .120 DOM mild steel for any event!!??!
My car is not a dedicated car to any sanctioned event.. just want to have fun.. but be SAFE
What are most of you guys running?!
-
you.. *can* weld with flux.. but move incredibly quick and you can only do spot welds..
I would recommend gas for thinner sheet metal.. but its possible. you may have a lot of blow through so be patient
-
Oh its crazy easy with a air chisel.. it knocks off fairly large chunks at once.. just sucks the chisel is so small.
Seems to be more time consuming with a heat gun and scraping.. no thanks.. I dont want to stand there for 10 minutes heating and scrape away using a section the size of the chisel.
As for dry ice.. how large are the chunks that pop off?!
The toughest part is getting through all that nasty OIL that accumulated on top of the undercoating.. sticks everything together. The chunks are much smaller when covered and saturated in grimy oil.
Here is an idea how large the chunks are that pop off.

Guys.. I would highly recommend building a rotisserie.. it can be done for under $200 and it is extraordinarily helpful. trust me trust me.
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=152566 << linky to my build thread for the rotisserie.
