  1. I certainly would not say that they are common! More so than where you are but still difficult to locate and when you do they are $200 USD and up plus shipping. You will see them on eBay but not weekly, it's a little more like monthly I think.
  2. I believe that the ones that MSA sells are from Charlie...however they may have some in their warehouse. You will likely pay more since they have to make a profit on them though.
  3. Floor pans are available from Zed Findings, Charlie is the owner and a great guy to work with.
  4. Do you have your mind set on Webbers? If not and you would consider Mikuni then talk to Todd over at Wolf Creek Racing it will run you about $1600 I believe for a triple set of 44s on a manifold with linkage...basically you bolt it on and go! Please tell him I sent you if you do.
  5. And you'll go slower, generate less power, and your engine won't run right (the #1 and #6 will be way lean, and your #3 and #4 will be way rich). These cars were just not designed to run on a single carb and it's been shown over and over again that the 4bbl is a poor set up for these cars. Yes, many proclaim this the be then end all beat all performance carb set up but show us some hard results to support this. Now your next request may be for me to do the same showing how bad it is...well I can not recall where all I've seen the proof but one was a show where they took two 240Z cars and put a 4bbl on and ran it down the drag strip and it didn't do well (I wish I could remember the name of the show but someone here will likely know what I'm talking about and post the name). You can also talk to any long time Z mechanic who is very knowledgable in these cars and they will tell you too. Don't waste your bucks on a 4bbl, if you want to increase performance without going to triples get the ZT SUs, if you can affort it go with tripples.
  6. Add the BBB to the list of people you threaten to tell, this may get them off their butts!!
  7. That looks like something he added I think. I have a '70 and don't recall seeing a wire like that, but I may be mistaken. If nobody here knows you may also try classiczcars, those guys are all up on the 'stock' cars.
  8. Too bad they're not 89mm pistons...I'm working on a 3.1L stroker and may have been intersted.
  9. Did anyone read this the first time? It explains what the xxx over means in metric terms.
  10. First off you can either just call AZ Z Car and ask, or measure your pistons (or have the engine builder measure them). Easy solution. In metric terms "four over" means 4mm which is right on the edge of how much you can go. 3mm takes you to 89mm which are the 240SX pistons used in 3.1L stokers, 4mm takes you to 90mm which are the size pistons used in the 3.2L strokers. Hope this helps.
  11. This is not true when it comes to the early Z car...the E31 heads did not have hardened valve seats from the factory.
  12. To answer this poor guy's question....it depends. If you have an E31 head that has not been rebuilt (or more importantly and more specifically the valve seats have not been replaced with the hardened steel ones) then yes your car should be running leaded gas. Where to get it you ask next...go fill up a gas can then hit your local parts store and buy a bottle of lead additive...problem solved. Now I am in the US and do not know about Norway but this is probably the easiest solution.
  13. I may be off base here but I would think that if you were to just weld up the three pieces then get a casting done and produce them from the casting that you would then no longer have the issue of welding the oil/water passages as the cast heads would all be one piece to begin with. Now there would be the question of how smooth those areas where the original three pieces met but I imagine that this could be taken care of relatively easily compared to trying to weld those areas like you guys are talking about now. I'm no engine builder but there are just my thoughts.
  14. Ok, the MSA kit is pricey there's no doubt but one up side is that all parts are new unlike hunting down the parts yourself in which case the crank and rods will be used...not that this is bad or anything. The crank in the MSA kit is the Maxima desiel crank. Courtesy Nissan in DFW also sells a stroker kit...also pricey though. These are the only two sources of a kit I have ever seen. Now about your question on Rebello...they are an engine builder in CA and are well know in the Z community for their strokers. Here's Rebello's website: http://www.rebelloracing.com/ There is also a place in GA call Sunbelt Racing that is supposed to be good and they do the Z car strokers as well: http://www.sunbeltperformance.com/ Personally I have collected the crank and rods and will be sending the parts off to my local engine builder soon.
  15. Can you provide a URL or phone number to classic datsun? I do not believe I've heard of them before.
  16. Which one do you feel is better and what are the differences other than the capacity of course? Looks like a BIG price difference!
  17. I see... Who is making the bellhousings for this swap? What did the T-56 come in?
  18. Where'd he get a 6-speed that mates up to the L6 block? I'm very interested in this upgrade!!
  19. Please be sure to share what you find out with us.
  20. Yes, they are from cars manufactured in 1969 and 1970 (there are very likely some that were made in 1971 that have these also until they ran out of them and made the change over).
  21. Dumb question #1 What's the difference between a wet sump and a dry sump?
