  1. Thanks for the info. Mounting the 36-1 like that looks like a very good idea to me. I'll take another look at those ATI dampers.
  2. Very cool. Do you have any photos of how you attached the 36-1 wheel?
  3. If you're talking about "Jeeps" meaning CJ/YJ/TJ models, those are body-on-frame vehicles. Our Zs have a unit body design. Apples and oranges. I've got no idea about what kind of strength you might get out of welding all or a portion of the doors though...
  4. Bummer - I hope the other driver's insurance treats you well.
  5. LOL at least it's "mechanicley sound"...
  6. OK' date=' your neighbor pulled a fast one on you. You've got a few options: 1. The first thing I would do is try to get my money back from the seller. 2. If he has the [u']correct[/u] title for the car, get him to sign that over. 3. Get a bill of sale from the seller that indicates the real VIN on that car. You can take that to VTR and apply for a bonded title. 4. Call the police. The vehicle theft task force in my county has been very helpful in figuring out my title problems. I'm not a lawyer and this isn't legal advice. I'm just relaying what I've learned in my experience. Good luck man.
  7. I just re-read your post. If the VIN stamped into the firewall matches your title, ask your neighbor if he still has the plates that he removed from the car. Rivet them on and you're done.
  8. Look for the VIN in the firewall on the driver's side of the car. That's the number that actually identifies the chassis. If that matches your title, you're in decent shape. Either way, you're probably going to need to contact your local Vehicle Titles and Registration (VTR Regional Office). They'll direct you to someone that can perform a 68-A inspection. If all goes well there, they'll send you back to VTR to get new VIN plates put back on the car. If the car is stolen or the identity of the car cannot be determined they'll impound it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I've just gone through this process for the past two years. Mine ended in bad news: stolen car. Hopefully yours works out better. Another option: find another car and part this one. If I had it to do over again, I would seriously consider this option.

  13. An, new tools. Looks nice. My compressor arrived today, but it had been dropped in shipping. The belt shroud and motor pulley got the worst of it. Just got off the phone with Amazon. It sounds like they are going to take care of this.
  14. One of these would be a great choice if you can find it at the right price. It never hurts to have a parts hauler.
  15. Why would you say it was a mistake? Is it just more work or are there pitfalls you ran into? I'm considering doing the same to my 75 in the near-ish future.
  16. Count me in as interested. 73ZCAR pretty much summed up my point of view on this. If the finished product is well built, fits, and (ab)usable, I'll buy.
  17. Thanks! I just scored a 60 gal air compressor for $395 after rebate, including shipping.
  18. Hey big-phil - Cool video! Were you at the Cowtown Z meet last month? Your car looks familiar.
  19. It's been a while since I've been into 4x4's, but this comes as a shock. Also, Dana made the rear end for the Nissan Titan.
  20. Very nice! Be sure to post again when you've got them installed. What are you planning for the rear brakes?
  21. Wow! Thanks guys. I had a hunch that they were Works, but I don't know my way around the Japanese sites. Sparky: your link 403's, but hitting http://zhp.satokikaku.com/ and navigating there works fine. I think I'll be spending hours looking through everything. There were hundreds of Z's in that lot, but I couldn't pry myself away from this car.
  22. I neglected to make a note of the wheel manufacturer when I took these photos. I guess I was a little too distracted by the whole package. Any help is appreciated...
