I'm sure I saw 16x8's listed for Z's with coilovers on centerline's site two or three weeks ago. I went back recently and they aren't listed any more. And I could swear that the prices have gone up dramatically in just a few weeks. Another option would be Volks or Gram Lights. They have some options in 16x8 with the right bolt pattern. You'd have to run spacers to correct the offset though...

Anyone know where I can find brake caliper dimensions for any aftermarket manufacturers besides Wilwood? Some background: I'm very interested in the Arizona Z Car brake kit, but my state specifically states that a line lock does not satisfy the parking brake requirement. The kit looks to be well put together and a good value, but I need a real mechanical parking brake. If I can find a caliper with the right dimensions and a mechanical p-brake, I'm in business. So I grabbed the important numbers from the Wilwood site, and went hunting for a caliper that I could use. It seems that no other manufacturers list the dimensions. PBR/Baer seems to have a few rear calipers that include a parking brake, but I can't find anything that lists mount center or offset for their stuff.

Who wants VOLK knock off wheels?
pete280z replied to auxilary's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Digging up a thread from its grave here... Did anyone buy a set of these wheels? I'm looking for a 16x8 wheel that would clear the Arizona Z Car brakes (12.2" rotor). This looks like it might be an option. rudypoochris: any chance you'd share your source for these wheels at $550 a set? -
Looks like the Kaminari 74.5+ air dam with a 240z bumper.

There's already a member working on that swap. Very cool: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105705 Congrats on the new truck. I've got about 20k on my 2004 King Cab and I'm still loving it.

I guess this makes three of us. I thought exactly the same thing.

My GT4 and Driving Force Pro should be delivered tomorrow. I can't wait! Hopefully this helps me deal with my Z withdrawals.

Yeah, I didn't know about that when I bought my Z with flipped VINs. Now I'm several months into the process of getting the title straightened out. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I am not interested in keeping a car that was stolen from someone else. This is a huge PITA. I have no real evidence that the previous owner knew about the flipped tags, but if I did... There are easier ways to get a legit title... Don't flip VINs

I need to come up with a 240 blinker switch FAST!
pete280z replied to Hugh's topic in Miscellaneous Tech
These things show up on ebay pretty regularly. I've picked up a couple of blinker and combo switches that way over the last year. Just be careful to get the right switch. The design changed over the years, and they aren't always straight plug-in swaps, no matter what the seller says. -
One more Texan here. I'm in Grapevine, kinda close to DFW airport. I'll second a HybridZ texas meet. I'm a long way from having my car back on the road, but I'd attend even if I couldn't bring a car.

There will be one November 6-7 at the Fort Worth Convention Center. http://www.greatwesternshow.com/index2.htm

I'll be ordering a few standard capacity magazines for my Sig this week. Who knows how long I'll be able to hold out before I buy one of those "evil black rifles"...

The Ford Zetec engines may be an option. They are apparently popular engines for Lotus 7 replicas. I've got no idea what transmission they're using in these cars, but obviously they've got something that works. Here's the contact information for a Zetec tuner that is mentioned in articles about Birkin Seven replicas: Circle “C†Performance 1201 Somerset Blvd. Colleyville, TX 76034 817/428-0214 http://www.circlecperformance.com (not responding for me) I've been impressed with the reliability of the Zetec in my wife's Focus. She puts in a lot of miles in commuter traffic, and this thing has been a trooper. Nothing outside of scheduled maintenance in over 100k miles. It's especially impressive when you consider her attitude about maintenance before we got married.

My Z was complimented for the first time the other day by... you guessed it, a middle aged lady at a gas station. "I love you're little red car." I had just replaced the gas tank vents, so I was feeling proud for two reasons: no gas dripping out the back onto the pavement, and the little red dude has still got it. Come to think of it, a couple of bikers threw me a thumbs up at a stoplight the night I bought the car. weird...

The difference that stands out the most to me between the drawing and the execution is the drawing maintains the curving line over the quarter panel. That's probably my favorite line on the Z. If you could keep the line over the quarter, put fat tires on the back, and a lumpy v8 under the hood... drool. No matter what you think of the finished product, you've got to admire the skills of the person who pulled this off.

I saw this car in person last night as well. That is one gorgeous z32. Fantastic condition and very, very clean. And one super excited owner! She was talking a mile a minute about ideas for her custom interior, top, etc. Then she started talking about wanting a z33! Come to think of it, when I sent my wife links to 280s I was looking at for a project car, she asked "Will this one be mine?" I've got to find another Z for the wife. Phantom, you're an inspiration.

1. Welcome to three years ago. 2. There's only one presidential candidate I can think of that is anti-"Patriot Act" as a part of his platform: http://www.badnarik.org

That color is greatness. Go for it. Even better, paint it that color because it's bad luck. While you're at it, put big 13s on the doors and the hood. Spread peanut shells around where you park it (just read about that one). OK, I've gotta lay off the Red Bull.

Spoiler is on, and I love the "small of her back."
pete280z replied to blueovalz's topic in Body Kits & Paint
Beautiful. The first time I saw photos of your car (a few HybridZ site revisions ago) I was inspired to do a Z project. That project is finally in its beginning stages. One day I hope to see your car in person. Good lookin' dog too. I've got a German Shepherd staying with me temporarily. She's a handfull. I'm hoping she takes on a temperment like what you've got in the photo. -
That would be because the USA does not elect it's president by straight democratic election. We rely on a system of checks and balances. Google for "electoral college." That will help explain how this works. It is currently fashionable for certain politically active people in this country to portray our government as having a populist spirit. When it comes to presidential elections, that just isn't true. Mandatory voter turnout would quite likely have a _very_ interesting effect on our elections. But do we really want everyone voting if they're not willing to educate themselves on the issues? I'd rather have an interested minority vote than suffer the decisions of a clueless mob. Perhaps Australians have a different attitude about their civic resposibilities? AH HA! We've smoked out that propagandist. Check out the "facts" he presents, his sources, and his selective editing. Then consider the source.
-
This is absolute nonsense. You don't say what state you were in, so I cannot check this out to an absolute certainty, but I'm afraid that you are the victim of some bad information. Perhaps you didn't study in the US for long? Otherwise, I hope that you could recognize one of these statements as propagandist drivel and the other as a total impossibility.

Re-installed dash and now headlights don't work
pete280z replied to a topic in Ignition and Electrical
I just did the same thing last month. I must have rested the dash on the combo switch while I was wrestling it back in the car. Whatever the case, the combo switch was broken after I got everything back together. I wound up cannibalizing a 280 switch to get the tiny plastic part that I broke. That wasn't fun, but it sure was a lot easier than pulling the dash back out! -
Pic of my custom rear strut bar
pete280z replied to Jersey's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Guessing that the load on this bar is too small to matter is not an opinion. It's a guess. Everyone agrees that this is a less than optimal design. So here's the point: "My Z looks good painted red." - OPINION "These vinyl stickers covering my Civic make it .2 seconds faster in the 1320." - FACT. Not necessarily true, but stated as a fact. This whole argument is about factual data, which has not been measured. Jersey - Until real measurements have been gathered, this argument is silly. You're guessing. Guess away for all I care, but please don't try to make this a subjective argument. Pete - Thanks for keeping us honest.
