Fresh new tires, just in time for solo II...
Forrest replied to Forrest's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I got the Panasports that MSA just had a special on. 16x7 Gunmetal with polished lip, 17lbs. So does that mean you're keeping the car? -
You can also just post from the yahoo group page directly.

My new 225/50/16 Yokohama AVS ES100's came in today, just in time for autocross this weekend! They're sitting in my office stacked up behind me...all the software people were giving me wierd looks - you'd think they'd be used to it by now. I get worked every time I look around and see them, all nice and rubbery smelling, ready to kick some ass...and then I remember that my wheels are STILL IN F****ING JAPAN AND WON'T GET HERE FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER WEEK AND A HALF! DAMN IT! (They were supposed to be delivered to MSA Friday, and in my office tomorrow at the latest.) Oh well, no use crying over late wheels. But the tires look so enticing sitting here, brand new tread, soft rubber. DAMN.
-
Dang it. I'm only halfway done with this one.
-
I hope that's just going to be a software upgrade.

I ordered the 225/50R16 Yokohama AVS ES100 all the way around, and they'll be here tomorrow. Unforunately the wheels are still in Japan.

I wasn't feeling bad for the prostitutes, but I did have a kind of darker image in my head before I saw the news report on it. That showed it for what it was - just a gimmick on the face of oldest business around. I know it sounds all sensational and screwed up, but it's really not much different than the rest of the crap going on in that line of work.

The schematic uses an output arrow on the lead from the emitter. The NPN has the leads EBC from left to right, with the flat side facing you. EBC is Emitter, Base, Collector.

Tim, I already offered to send you some - got no reply to my email. Do you still need some? Give me your address. Thanks for the pot, my Megastim is done. Mudge, give me an address, I'll send you some.
-
You have no idea how sold I am.
-
So how do you like them? Do they sit higher than stock seats? Are they in a good position? I like them very much in the 240sx.
-
No, no power locks. I think I'm going to stick with manual locks- less weight! My unit has room for 7 more functions I can program, though, with the output harness. I haven't decided if I'm going to do anything with them, lots of other stuff to work on first...speaking of which, I'm starting on Megasquirt tonight.

My car is a 77, with EFI and a manual transmission. They work with carbs, but not as well unless you install a solenoid to simulate pumping the gas, which I did see a kit for back in 93. The lesabre had carbs, but it didn't really need it...it would start without pumping the gas. The car places won't install it on a car with a stick, for liability reasons. I have to be really careful now, too, to make sure it's not in gear. I have NEVER left it in gear, and anytime someone else drives it, I usually forget to check before starting the car, and it jumps forward a foot and dies. Anyway, if you are already in the habit of leaving it in neutral, you can install one yourself, it's not hard. It's just a matter of finding the right wires, checking your connections, and reading the instructions carefully. I haven't ever installed a carb kit, so you'll have to do some research on that. Good luck.

Hey guys, My install is finished...well, almost. Still have to screw down the unit and hide the wiring. But it's working! I ended up going with a unit made by Autopage, sold by a local alarm/stereo shop. It was 100$, which was about 40$ more than I should have spent - however, they had a shiny black 240Z molded into the wall as their stereo demo car! (The wall was cut out so that only one size of the car was visible from the outside.) It was pretty nifty! I was so impressed I decided to give them the extra 40$ instead of price shopping. The novelty will probably take a few weeks to wear off. Every time I have started it today I have startled someone. A guy outside the restaurant we went to for lunch said "Hey, is that your Porsche? I could have sworn I heard it start a minute ago when I walked by." (I still have all my factory logos and insignia, some people can't read.) A guy outside my apartment this morning jumped back when it started, and I've had fun messing with the guys at work, too. Back in 1993, when I installed one on my dad's LeSabre, I thought that in 10 years these things would be so common that no one would even give it a second glance, but apparently it still has some novelty value if installed on an old car.

There's so much room in the engine bay, you could go ahead and stick two of them in there!

Hey, I am about to start building my MS system. So one of you guys is using MSD for ignition? What about everyone else? I haven't decided whether to build a second MS to run MegaSpark (which will certianly be an easier decision once I've built the first one) or to buy something seperate. I'm going to be spoiled after having to spend so little on the fuel injection side though. Once I get it working I am going to have to talk to those guys about giving me the source to their PC programming/output software so I can start porting it to winCE and the .net framework. Then I can have a dash mounted PDA for additional output and on-the-fly programming.

How much was it?

I normally use this feature exclusively on any forum that I read. But this one works a little "too" well. If I accidentally close the window, I will get the 0 posts since last visit. Other forums that I frequent don't behave like this, I can still get to posts that were made in the last few hours. I guess what I would really like to see is the newest posts in the last day(s). Unfortunately there is no search option for all the forums at once, so I can't do that. Any chance that capability will be added?

What is the best tire and size for a 14X6 rim?
Forrest replied to Z Driver's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
You have a lot of choice in that size' date=' but that is a very small tire. The diameter is 1-1/2" smaller than stock.[/quote'] If you think that's bad, I'm running 185/60r14's. And I'm running the hell out of them, too. I couldn't pass up 12$ a piece almost new, although the car sits REALLY low now. My Panasport 16x7's will be here in a few weeks, still have to decide which tire to go with....decisions, decisions. -
Did you have to make adapter plates to make the seats fit on Z rails, drill new holes and use the prelude rails, or any other modifications to get them to bolt in? I assume you're happy with the seating position you end up in.
-
What year prelude are those from? Do you know how much they weigh?

Thanks for trying to help, I apologize that I wasn't clear in my response. I found and read all of those threads when I searched the Misc Tech forum. I mentioned that I didn't find anything searching the Paint and Body forum to point out that I had incorrectly chosen the forum to search and post on this topic, and that maybe this post should be moved. I wasn't trying to say that there was nothing out there, although as far as my main question, which is about whether or not s13 seats will fit and how difficult will it be to install them, I can't find any previous posts. I emailed the guy who just posted about buying some off of ebay, and he said that he will be posting information on the install after he does it, so anyone else that is interested, stay tuned. I'd like to have really nice expensive racing seats, but they're "taking a back seat" to my other expenses. The s13 seats are really appealing, functionalitywise, even if they look a little plain (and won't match my interior.) Hopefully they will not be too hard to install. Offtopic, I just read your post about the Megastim, Tim, and I am looking forward to your article. My digikey order just came this morning, now I'm just waiting on the partial kits. Did you get a Megaview kit by any chance? -Forrest

I like either design for the Tshirts, and I'd buy a grey AND a black one if they were made. Just let me know when they are available.
