I've been playing for 10 years and own 4 Jacksons, (one is a USA made soloist), a gibson, and a classical. There are a ton of really good websites out there, but I don't frequent them very often because I've already gone over most of the theory they cover...google is all you need.
The most important thing is lots of practice, and practice with a metronome. Figuring out songs you like, or finding tab for them, and creating exercises from the parts that are too difficult is a very effective way to get better because it gives you a clear progression with music that you are familiar with and is less likely to get boring.
