  1. Alright, I will give it a try. Thanks!
  2. I want to make chrome tail light surrounds for some LED tailights.
  3. Please forgive my ignorance, but I have never out-sourced anything like this. Where would I get a part like this made? This is just a quick drawing I made in paint, the measurements are not final by any means. I think I want about 18 gauge steel.. so I assume I need a place with a robot plasma cutter or a flow jet type cutter. Also, do you reccomend chrome, or stainless steel? These will be on the outside of the car. Basically i need to know what type of buisness to start looking for. Also, if you have any kind of price estimate, that would be awesome
  4. Where do I sign? Aren't we supposed to be getting gnarly tax breaks if we buy a car this year?
  5. I had it done 2 years ago. Best money I ever spent. I still have better than 20/20.
  6. Looks better than my first shots at welding, and I'm 30
  7. That makes sense. I havent looked at the other side yet. Mine was very rusted, but it did look like there was a gap at the end. I will just drill a hole.
  8. Thanks for the tips, I have some thinking to do. Got any close up pics of yours Challenger? I think making my own will be the way to go, as I am doing ZG flares and a custom roll pan as well.
  9. Are they the same as the coupe? Or are my only options to fab new ones by hand or weld in something completely different, A-Team style?
  10. I was convinced, but the badly photoshopped pictures I keep seeing make me think its a hoax, made up to play on our sensitive feelings. What do you expect from a continent full of criminals?
  11. I have no answers, but am asking myself the same questions. When I asked my company about collector car insurance, they said it could not be parked in a public parking lot. Thats a little too restrictive for me.
  12. Even though I'm not a "gun guy", I dig that GSG-5. I have a Glock 17 that I've put MAYBE 2 boxes through.
  13. The only reason I did not seam weld it is because the factory piece was spot welded in.
  14. I saw one at the Seattle Auto Show. Looks awesome in person, and yes, from certain angles it is very Z-like.
  15. It won't let me edit, here are the pics:
  16. That is rad. Anyone got a spare pully I can borrow?
  17. Sounds great, please post pics as it sounds like the route I want to go.
  18. I think that battery may be the one that was in my Z from the condition of my battery tray.
  19. Just a heads up, Harbor Freight has tiny 1000 lb dollys on sale for 10 bucks a pop. I got some and put the Z up on them. I still need to put some ass behind it to push it around, but I can push it sideways and its nice to have it 5 inches or so higher when working on it.
  20. Well, here is what I did. I cut out all the rust, then welded a 16 gauge panel on the inside. I then welded a 22 gauge panel to the outside, and fabbed up a frame rail extension. I used seam sealer like it was going out of style. Keep in mind, this is the first time I have ever welded on a car, and like the third time I have welded ever. I can say, it is very sturdy, maybe even more so than the other, non rusted side.
  21. Wow. WTF is the one with the turbos on the mufflers all about?
  22. Thank you for the post and the pics! The way you did is is much better than the way I ended up fixing it, I will post pics when I am done. Maybe. This is the first panel i have replaced and welded on a car, so both the part and the welds look like poo.
  23. If this works, why aren't the maufacturers already doing it? Its not like it would increase costs much.
