  1. A good way to not be allowed on the internet by your girl is to say "hey, the guys on this forum I go to want me to post pics of you. Is that OK?" Denied.
  2. Wow, you guys get the shaft when it comes to custom plates.
  3. I hear you with the street cred part. When I got my welder, all the guys at work were jealous, even though none of us know how to weld.
  4. I don't know what to call this part. I just started working on my car, this is the first cancerous rust I have found besides the lower body work. What is the most effective way to go about fixing this part? The rust stops right at the end of where the headlight panel meets the inner panel. Because the hood hinges mount here, I know it has to be sturdy. Should I try and fab up a new one, or cut a part from a donor car?
  5. CRX. Love em, so fun yet economical, they are the closet to driving a go-cart on the street as I have come. If you want comfort though, be weary of the German cars. I had a 98 Mercedes that I loved dearly and it drove like a dream. But the rumors are true, parts are a nightmare, and some require "special tools", so off to the dealer you go. I paid 1200 bucks for new front control arm bushings. Traded it in a week later.
  6. I have been digging through the threads about these v6 vortecs, but I can't find an answer to my question. I know they share a lot of parts with the 350. Does this include motor mounts? If I were to get a JTR or MSA swap kit, would it work for the 4.3 also and be a bolt in affair? Thanks guys.
  7. Two tone. Top: That metalic olive green that Jeeps come in. Bottom: Ford mineral grey, the one thats brownish like on Mustangs. Mmmmmmm... Think about it.
  8. Some of the gnarliest home brew cars come from those crazy Scandinavians.
  9. I have asked myself this very question a few times so far. I just started my project, took the hood off for the first time last night. I don't have any answers and have subscribed to this thread. My "plans" are to have a fun nice day / weekend car, that I can go to shows with or nice long drives to the ocean and whatnot.
  10. Well, schucks carries two models, one for 70 bucks and one for 100. I will probably pick one of those up, this is the only swap I plan on doing for a long time, so I dont really care if is a cheap cheeseball unit, as long as it works.
  11. Beautiful. S30's look so different with the top chopped.
  12. I plan on pulling the engine in the next few months, and selling it cheap. Then, I have no idea how long it will be before I get a new one to swap in. How often is a hoist used during a swap? I'm sure it comes in handy when building mounts. I know i can get one for 150 or so in craigslist, but my biggest worry is space. My garage is on the small side, so I dont want to have this giant thing taking up space and not being used. With that said, should I buy one or rent one? Do they come in handy for other uses? I dont see me using it after I finish my swap. Thanks in advance for your input.
  13. If you dig the whole para-military thing then I would go border patrol over CHP. I got sick of wearing a uniform every day (especially that bullet proof vest) and moved away from an armed profession all together. I did notice that the guys who really like being armed and wearing a badge were usually the last people you would want to be doing either.
  14. I'm diggin the big ol' steel wheels. Wonder how a set would look with zg flares?
  15. I'm looking for an engine for my Z, this thread and this ad have got me considering it. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/pts/1059143423.html
  16. Congrats! I'm also a Coastie, so I'll say that was very semper of her.
  17. This thread really hits home. I bought my z-car project a few months ago, and have literaly taken the car cover off of it three times to look at it. Frankly, it kind of scares me, but I bought it as a long term project, something to keep me out of trouble on the weekends. I agree that you need to take a car project one piece at a time. But not all the pieces are directly related to the car. I have had to build a shed for storage, knock down a wall in the garage and re-model the garage just to fit the z in there to work on it. Maybe this weekend the car will be indoors for the first time I've owned it. I have doubts every day if its worth it, and I havent even started. But I got this project car as just that, a project. I know it will take time to finish. Basically, if it doesn't make you happy, why do it? If you got a Viper, what would your hobby be? Stamp collecting?
  18. Its like the oposite of the g-nose, chops a foot off the front of the car. I like it.
  19. Psh, too much work. Thats what Nair is for.
  20. I guess you could do it on the hood as well, might be kinda neat. Right down the middle of the bump.
  21. So I want to shave my rear after I remove the bumpers. Instead of a flat pannel, what do you think about this? I could cut out the Datsun from a truck tailgate and use that. Do you think it would look good?
  22. I was on the fence, but with those tail lights I think it will look pretty good.
