Hey.... I wasn't aware of this kit, but have just checked it out online. Subsequently I have just gone out to the shed to investigate if the OEM cable will connect to the MC4....I did check this way back in the beginning, but perhaps i missed something... Using my old stock OEM 260Z cable....i see no way of mounting it without modification. The hole in the caliper through which the end fitting of the cable passes through is not large enough. So, without reaming out that hole there is no chance. I don't know if the 240Z cable is different. Secondly, the clevis arrangement on the OEM cable does not fit correctly into the lever arm of the MC4. You will not get the pin in without modification to one or the other. also, i don't believe there would be quite enough length even if the fittings did fit, due to where the MC4's now mount as opposed to where the OEM cable originally connected to the drum brakes.See the attached photos of what i found.... It has to be noted, that in order to test the system recently, with the (incorrect) cable I received from my manufacturer, i had to enlarge that hole...this is NOT desirable, and has left the caliper compromised for strength in my opinion....and if it were to be done, A machine shop would need to do this in order to guarantee that you didn't 'snap' off one or both of the fingers whilst drilling, as the drill bit tends to grip and grab....there isn't much thickness to start with. I was lucky ! My intention is to provide a kit that will bolt up first time, without modification to your 260Z. The hard work is done, its just a matter of the cable, and i have good news on that front...I have found a supplier that is LOCAL, and believes he can make the cable no problems, and significantly cheaper than the previous supplier. I am awaiting an email from him. Updates coming Soon.... Warren

OK, Moving forward - I have a solid quote from the Laser cutters & machinists to do their thing. 1 Set of brackets will be US$245. This price is based on getting 10 sets done, so unfortunately, if i only get 5 orders, then the price will increase somewhat. I am having trouble with the Cable Manufacturer as previously mentioned...mainly on being able to supply me exactly what i need, but also price. He is currently quoting around $300 for the cable alone !. The prototype cable he made for me was $275, however he chose to ignore critical dimensions and made the cable up as he saw fit....basically, to do it properly, he has to machine up new fittings to suit. So...I am suggesting that any interested parties purchase the brackets only, and you can either (1) organise your own cable, or (2) wait until i get mine sorted....in the new year sometime. I apologise for this, I have tried my best to make it happen so that the cable was also ready, but alas, its not to be. So, the price will be US$245 without the cable. Postage can only be confirmed once i have a set available to package and take to the post office, however, based on the last brackets i made up (which were similar) , it will be around $100 - $120 to the USA. The brackets are made from 12mm Mild Steel plate, and the postage is calculated on weight....nothing i can do about this unfortunately. So....here's is how i intend on working it... I'm sure you all can appreciate that I cant take a hit by going ahead and getting all the plates done, and then finding some people who ordered have changed their minds. So, i will do it exactly the same way as i did the last time. I will require a US$150 deposit, paid into my Paypal account. This will secure your set. Once I have confirmed shipping prices, you can pay the Balance, along with the shipping cost, and the brackets will be shipped to you. If you are uncomfortable with this, please find the blog on here about the first handbrake kit i produced. read through it and you will see that you WILL get what you pay for. So there it is Peeps....I am going away until Sunday the 11th Dec, so hopefully when i check my emails then I will have enough Orders to proceed. My Paypal account is kwgilbert71@gmail.com PS. If for some reason we cant proceed...you will get your money back. Rest Easy ! Cheers Warren

Hey All....here with an Update. As per my previous Post, Im having trouble with the cable Guy, and in fact i think his product is way too expensive anyway. So, with Christmas fast approaching, I am going to put the cable on hold untill the new year....Sorry for the inconvenience. However, I am happy to go ahead and take orders for JUST THE brackets if people are interested. If I start this early next week, I could have them in the post in about 2 weeks. This will at least allow you to fit your calipers up to your car, and you can either source your own cable, or wait untill Ive got mine sorted out. Let me know your thoughts guys... Please bear in mind, I will need to do at least 10 sets to make it viable...I currently have 8...9 including a new set for myself....this is fine..I can definately proceed with this. Cheers Warren

* IMPORTANT UPDATE * GOOD NEWS !....and bad news The brand new cable arrived finally....the manufacturer has been difficult to work with, but I was excited when it finally arrived. Turns out....The Cable guy decided in his wisdom, to ignore the dimensions I specified on my drawing for the fitting that fits in the Caliper Arm Boss.....he used a standard fitting that is very similar, and just decided that this was good enough ! (Didnt even bother asking me). Needless to say, it didn't fit as the diameter was 2mm too large !. So...in the interest of making some progress and being able to test the system out, I decided to drill out the Hole in the Caliper Arm Boss to suit the new fitting. As you can see from the attached photo, once drilled out, there is very little thickness left, (and therefore strength), and no doubt in time will break off. Anyway, after the modification I proceeded to fit the cable, and the test was great ! - The system works wonderfully and I am very pleased to finally have a functioning Handbrake ! I am NOT prepared however, to make this kit available with the cable as he has produced it...Its simply not professional, not to mention safe to expect you guys to 'make things fit' ! So, unfortunately, a little more time is needed - I'm going to see if i can find another manufacturer....or see what can be done with the current guy. I've attached a few pics.... one showing the modification i had to do (one side modified, the other unmodified...see the difference !), another showing the new cable in its entirety, and another showing how the cable looks when connected to the caliper on the car ! Thanks guys for your patience....I'm sure you can appreciate my insistence on getting this right so you don't encounter any issues. Cheers

Ok...who is this? Lol

Thanks for this info.....I have checked the Spec sheets for all three of these calipers, and all three will fit according to the two critical dimensions i designed to. Although my Dynolite 4 Pistons are now obsolete, they have maintained consistency with manufacturing specs and standard measurements. I thought this was the case, but simply hadn't checked before to confirm. So, those of you who haven't bought your kits from Dave yet, dont panic - go and order with confidence !..No need to bother him with questions that he may never reply to. Thanks Woza

He is not great when it comes to replying to emails !. I emailed him dozens of times about his e-brake caliper system that he was developing, but he never replied, hense the reason i have had to do my own...Twice !. Thats OK though...probably a very busy man with a great business

Correct....a bracket for each side of the car, and a new handbrake cable. You can of course just get the brackets if you choose !
-
I remember you mate !...youre on the list !
-
Yeah....Pretty sure they will be the same dimensionally. I would hate peeps to have fitment problems, hence the reason for notifying peeps about my calipers v yours etc.
-
Yes, almost indistinguishable from that photo, but they are slightly different in appearance (more 'rounded' on edges etc)...Im pretty sure that dimensionally they will be the same.

Pricing .... At this point....No..I dont have anything worked out yet...as with everything, R&D costs quite a bit...and this is no exception....1 set of plates cut, one set machined, then re-machined, one cable...It hasnt been cheap. So, when i have a better idea of numbers, i will be able to get more accurate prices...Buying in Bulk saves heaps Having said this...lets get the ball rolling with an "Expression Of Interest" list..... Add your name to the list if you are interested. NOTE : You wont be held accountable if you add your name, but change your mind....its merely for me to get an idea on numbers.... Please Note : This kit has been developed as an 'add-on' for the AZC Rear Disc Brake Kit. The Bracket replaces the original AZC bracket, which allows for the addition of the Wilwood MC4 Handbrake Calipers (Not included in my kit), but everything else remains the same. If your Rears are NOT AZC, then I cannot guarantee correct fit. Also, my Rear Calipers are Dynalite Pro 4 Spots...which i believe have been superseded..Please check if YOUR Calipers have the same Critical dimensions (Mounting Crs, Centre to Mounting Face) as mine. I have attached a Picture of said Calipers, as well as the Critical Dimensions (Red Boxes). EXPRESSION OF INTEREST *Woza01 * Ereschkigal * RB26powered74zcar

UPDATE : September 28 2016. Since returning from my vacation I have done the following... * Removed the spring from my strut, then refitted the strut. I then jacked up that corner with a jack, through the struts full range of travel to make sure the handbrake lever doesnt foul on the body - It doesnt...all good ! * Had to do a minor machining modification to get the Main Caliper offset spot-on. * Finalised the drawing for the Handbrake cable - Its with the manufacturer now, and i "should" have it back in about 10 days. Once I get the cable, I will fit it, put the wheels on, and thoroughly put the new handbrake through its paces to ensure functionality is right. After this, I will be happy to take orders if anyone is interested still. I'm really excited about this - having a STRONG handbrake caliper is going to be great...My last kit with the spot caliper was lacking due to the poor design of the caliper..too small a pad area and and adjustments required too frequently. The MC4 caliper is a vast improvement, and i can see its clamping force is going to be considerable. Thanks for your patience everyone.....
-
OK...The Wheels I'm running (for now !) are Performance Superlites 16x7 12P Offset. The handbrake lever DOES protrude out further than the inner rim diameter, BUT, the lever is actually further inboard that the Strut Tower...so if your wheels don't rub on your strut tube, then they wont foul with the handbrake lever. This is kinda hard to imagine, but the MC4 mechanism is quite 'busy'...Check out the attache pic - i tried to capture just how far inboard the lever is...you can see the strut tube in the lower right of pic, and the HB lever is further inboard. I have taken a photo (attached)...showing the offset from the wheel mounting face, to the handbrake lever itself...its 150mm I am going away on Monday for nearly 3 weeks, but i will confirm all this information upon my return. Cheers

16Inch

Hey ! I have 16's on My car, and there are no clearance problems....the lever does stick up pretty high, but its actually about 2" inboard of the wheels inner lip. Perhaps extra wide rims may be a problem.

LATEST UPDATE ! Got the Plates/Brackets back from the Machinist today. I have fitted them up....PERFECT !.....See attached pics Next step is to get a handbrake cable sorted, but before that I need to remove the spring from the strut, and use a Trolley Jack underneath the suspension to move the strut through its normal travel to ensure that the back-side of the MC4 Caliper doesn't foul on the bodywork. The only thing that may need to be done when fitting, is to actually remove about 0.5mm of Pad material from the Outer Brake pad....Its just a tad tight. I envisaged this would be the case from the 3D Model, and it has proven to be the case. Unfortunately it was a real juggling act to come up with a happy compromise regarding the Caliper offsets etc, and this was the easiest most cost effective way of getting everything in line without much more machining (and therefore cost). I don't see this to be a problem anyway. I am heading overseas on Monday for 2 weeks, so its going to be at least 3 weeks until I can resume work and get it all finalised, but rest assured, with the major part now done, I'm eager to get it finished ! I look forward to your comments...
-
Hey mate. Price isnt finalised yet... and i wont know untill i get quotes on larger batches.... this prototype set is costing a packet due to only 2 plates being cut and machined and program setup costs. I also will have to factor in the cable costs...but everyone obviously will have the option of sorting their own cable. Thanks for your interest !
-
Yes mate.... i have the AZC setup...and this design is based on the AZC hats

Picked up the Prototype Bracket Plates today after being cut by the Laser cutting mob....then dropped them straight off at the machinists to do their bit. In a weeks time Ill be able to do a test fit ! You'll note that I have decided to use Mild Steel as opposed to Aluminium. The Reasons for this are purely economic....MS is MUCH cheaper, and there will be no need for further expenses of thread inserts, then Anodising. The downside is that it will increase the un-sprung weight....oh Well ! Im looking forward to picking them up ! WZC Bracket.pdf

Working on it...getting closer.....3D model almost finished and finalised....should be getting prototype plates cut in the next week or two, then machining done. Sorry its so slow....life gets in the way !!!
