So I acquired another 2+2. This one is a 1976. There is rust in the usual places on the body. The battery tray area and undercarriage looks good. An added bonus was discovering Tokico springs and Illumina's.

StealthZ got any new pictures?
None worth posting yet. I have installed a G Nose on my 75 280Z though.
Speaking of the 75, I have now remembered the "Precision" brand coupe door seals did not fit properly on it. Hopefully the ones I have for the 2+2 fit better. Z man of Washington said there are no fitment issues with them.

This is the place I got mine from.
They are about twice the price of the coupe door seals.

I got my California Historic Plates a couple days ago. I didn't even go to the DMV or turn in my old plates. I filled out a form online and mailed it in along with a check for $25. A couple weeks later the plate came in the mail. I only got one, so that means I don't have to run a front plate either.
You have a link to the online form? Most likely I have been staring at it during my DMV searches.

This Question and answer is a good one. Distrubutor makes it a 5 cylinder?
Q: Hi, can you explain the race mode modifiation that you did under the hood? Did you just advance the timing? I don't understand. Ed from Ohio.
A: The distributor has a slide system that actually rotates the firing order around one whole cylinder basically they were too fast in 1974 so they bogged em when they shipped em by making it a 5 cylinder it's also how they passed emissions by not making the last cylinder in the power stroke they didn't produce too much gas emissions see they didn't use catalytic converters stock so they just measured burnt gas. So you slide the lower bracket one and then the upper bracket and technically it's at like 28degrees btc at the original marks but really it's at 8 degrees and firing all cylinder in the power stroke it took a while to get right but I beat 4.6 mustangs at ease cause of the rear being setup at 4.16 to one and the compression is 11 to 1 so you can see why they made em sell 60,000 before they could race that year, The 260 is actually a stroked 240 with a shorter head and bigger valves from the factory so you can why I don't want to get rid of it runs so nice. Starts like a new car and makes way more than 158 horse. You just have to stuff fuel in it and set the distributor right. This whole system and drive train will fit any 240z The engine trans and rear will fit any 280

For all those who want a AWD Z, here you go. Looks like the one referenced when discussions of making an S30 AWD conversion come up. 7,000,000Yen = about $70,000USD

You know what its ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forums like freshalloy that make me really appreciate HYBRIDZ.... that forum ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks!!!!!!
You can't post ♥♥♥♥ on there with out getting slammed. I will not go there anymore unless it's to stir the pot!!!!
I have been watching the stuff going on freshalloy. Makes me laugh someone comparing a single part to a 747.
There are alot of people using that forum for their own financial gain. Notice the ones complaining work or own a shop of some kind. Last I saw they were cutting on the quality and performance of the Cometic's.
My RB30/26 will be using a 87mm Cometic. It is sitting on my shelf right now.

going through mckinney is a very expensive way to get it in the car...your looking at over 3500 if you are looking for the direct bolt in swap way through them, on top of that, there is the motor and transmission
If a person does not have access to a welder or does not have fabrication skills, the Mckinney kits look good for the quality and price.
-
Did I search but couldn't find anything referencing anyone or any company that sell rb swap kits. Partial or Full...not having to do it from scratch is always easier.
Does anybody have any leads? If so comments on the quality is helpful also.

Among my eBay searches: titles containing "Dotsun" "Datson" and "Breaks".......
I have found some good stuff with very few viewers / bidders.
You may want to add "obsolute" to your ebay searches.

How about a built in spelling and grammar check for the forum? Outlook has one. Before I send an email, the spell check button gets hit.
If I do not know how to spell something, MS Word gets opened before I post.

A clean RB26 head with out valve train, cams, and cam caps weighs 40 pounds.
The pair of HKS 264 cams I have weigh in at 14 pounds.
-
Some one withdrew their bid. They had bid $365 then retracted when the description was changed. Last I looked though the bid was around $177. Bid is now $23.48.
Damn those can be some expensive pieces of plastic!

Just found this on craigslist in your area.

That is the correct mounting hardware for the factory covers
I like your picture better than mine. Now I just have to remember to remove them from the buckets if I ever get around to doing a scrap run.
-
Here is an old photo where you can see what the tab looks like. They have 2 screws holding the tab down.
-
My 78 Fairlady Z head light buckets have the tabs for those types of covers. When I aquired it, the light covers were missing. The buckets are collecting dust in the attic as mine will be getting a G Nose.

I was just wondering what changed throughout the years of the s30? Or did anything change, besides the raised floors?
Im going to be making myself a sub enclosure in the spare tire well and was considering making a few to sell...
Ive got a 74.5 260z I could use for a mold. (cut out the spare tire well)
Thanks
Fuel tank changed for the 76.5~78's. You would have to change it to an earlier year to put in full sized spare tire well.

excellent so new plan. where is a good place to get blanks?
The Locksmith will have generic blanks. Factory blanks show up on ebay as well. Depends on if you have your heart set on a factory key.
you haven't seen rust until you have seen thisA broad statement there. I have seen some in Okinawa that have become unrecognizable.
-
so a locksmith does not need a code? they can simply take a blank and make it work?
Yes.
-
Tony D could always use another Z
.
I am sure someone in the LA area will take it off your hands versus letting it go to a wrecking yard.

help 2+2 owners....i cannot find the key code on the pass door lock and it is not in the glove box. ideas?
also what is the difference between a rear spoiler meant for the coupe vs. a 2+2?
and just FYI--new wheels and tires coming in! sportmax 16x8 silver 002s and 245-45-16 tires
Remove one of your lock's and take it to a locksmith. The rear hatch comes out easiest.
2+2's are different in the back compaired to a coupe. They are a little bit wider. A coupe 3 piece will not fit a 2+2. I have both.

"Where's a paladin or necromancer when you need one?"
I think a cleric would be more appropriate.

Quit posting stuff like this! It keeps me thinking of going NA with mine. My pistons have not been cut down for a lower compression yet. Right now I can get into the 10:1 CR range easily.
I kind of equate it to doing an S20 DOHC swap with a more modern twist. Not many of the S20DOHC's were ever produced.
Think of the fun you could have putting 432 badges on the side of your Z? 4 valves, 3 throttle bodies or carbs, and 2 cams.
Were to buy rb30?
