  1. I just started wiring the TEC II into my 71 with the turbo L6 and have a few questions for those who have already done this. I know the 71 uses that wacky tach that is wired to the positive side of the coil. How can I use the stock tach with the TEC? Can I put the electronics from a later tach into my tach? The other thing is can I get rid of the green/white and black/white wires that go to the distributor and ignition resistor? I'm trying to clean up the wiring harness that is in front of the radiator support while I'm at it. Thanks. Joe

  3. I have only heard bad things about TEP but where else can I get parts for my TEC crank trigger? Specifically I need a trigger wheel, mag pickup and mag pickup mount. They said if I sent them my balancer they would mount the wheel and send me the mag pickup and mount for $300. What other options do I have? Thanks. Joe

  5. Speaking of wiring blues, does anyone happen to have a schematic for an 83ZX turbo? I'm trying to combine a 71 harness with a turbo's harness and a little TEC II thrown in for good measure. It has turned into a nightmare to say the least! Thanks. Joe

    Tach on 260Z

    Are you still going through the little electronic ignition box in the passanger foot well? I had to bypass mine to get my tach to work. And yes, it does hook up to the neg side of the coil. Joe

  9. Just picked up a TEC II for my turbo 240 and hava a few questions for the experts. The first is where to mount the sucker in a 71 when the battery is in the stock location? Who has any maps that work with a stock L28t without an IAC? Will the Nissan knock sensor, water temp sensor, throttle position sensor, and O2 sensor work? Any help is appreciated. Joe
  10. You don't even need a slide hammer. I use a crow bar to pry them out. It is more of a shocking action since a snap ring holds them in. Kind of scary the first time you do it because of the noise it makes but no damage occurs. Joe

  13. The bellhousing on the Nissan 5 speed is not removable. The only trans that you might be able to mount to a SBC is the T5. Joe
  14. I'm in the process of having a larger fuel line bent to feed the turbo motor that I am putting into my 71 240. The question I have is can I do without the vent tube that runs to the driver side of the engine compartment? Also, I plan on replacing the original return line with one that has a diameter of 3/8" and using it for the feed line. I'll use the original feed line for the return. I am going to use a 75 280Z gas tank. Do I have the right idea? does this sound like it will work? I have a habit of not leaving well enough alone so I am just trying to prepare for when the turbo motor gets modified. Any help is as always appreciated. Joe

  17. What a great list! I am in the process of transplanting a turbo L28 into a 71 240 and have a ton of questions. First being, will a T5 trans fit in the 240's tunnel? I know I will have to modify the trans mount to ofset it one inch but I don't know about tunnel clearance. Second, has anyone modified an intake manifold to utilize Ford/GM style injectors with a custom fuel rail? I have a ton of stock Grand National fuel parts that I think would be a great upgrade for the L6 if I use an aftermarket EFI system. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Joe
