  1. The guy who now has Bob Hanvey's 3 liter might be interested since rebuild kits are no longer available for the SK's that are on it. Let me know what you'll be asking. I'll probably be the one who does the install. Joe
  2. Well John which ones are you gonna sell? The 50's or the triple 40's? Joe
  3. Scottie, seems like all those running turbo's have to find out for themselves Joe
  4. Yeah I saw the rod was adjustable, but even when adjusted I could not get it as long as the 83 booster rod. Could the Series I cars have a shorter rod in the booster? I know the M/C is unique to those cars but I'm not sure about the booster. Joe
  5. I've done two of these swaps both on 71 series I cars. Both times I came away with way too much pedal travel. I noticed that the pushrod in the brake booster is a little shorter than a ZX pushrod. Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to fix it? Thanks. Joe
  6. Let me start by saying when it comes to paint and bodywork there is no one that is more green than me. So being from Northern NJ I get rape over the coals evertime I have to pay to get something done. I just got my car back from the bodyshop today. Looked good to me when I was looking at it in the shop but one I got it home I found a few runs and a couple of tape edge marks. Can someone explain to me how I can get rid of these? I really don't want to have to trailer it back if I can handle this myself. Thanks. Joe
  7. Thanks for the replies! I found the relay's and only bypassed one of them. Gotcha on the saftey feature! Joe
  8. Anyone know how to get power to the electric fuel pump on a 260 all the time? I know there are two relays, one that senses alternator voltage and one that senses RPM (400 rpm) but I don't know where they are. Can I bypass them ? I would like to use the wiring harness that is in the car instead of running a new feed to the back of the car for a Carter elecrtic pump. Thanks in advance. Joe
  9. Arif, Did you have to mod the rad support with your installation? I really don't want to hack mine since everything is finally painted. Joe
  10. Hahaha!! Except for the snow shoes, that was my wardrobe this morning when I cleaned the driveway of the last of the storm! Joe
  11. Fuel pump ruptured would be my first guess. Joe
  12. I've ruined 2 stub axles with the V8 car. You need a slidehammer to get the stub axle out. That's the right way to do it but since your replacing it anyway, you can drive it out with a sledgehammer. Just watch you don't mushroom the shaft so much that it doesn't fit through the bearings. You can use a used stub axle from another 240 but get a NEW locking nut. Good luck. Joe
  13. I'll tell ya how I had mine made. I bought a two foot length of stock from Kinsler. I then took it, my manifold, and a fuel rail from a TPI setup to a machine shop. I asked them to bore out the injector bosses to accept the o-ring injectors, and bore corresponding holes in the rail stock. I used the TPI rail for measuring the hole size. I then had two rail mounts made to secure the rail to the manifold at the stock mounting locations. No leaks and $70 total. Joe
  14. I'm more curious to know what is the hightest boost levet someone has run on a stock long block that has an intercooler and has the fuel system upgraded. Joe
  15. Mike, When I thought about building my garage myself I quickly came to my senses and went about finding a contractor to build one for me. Unfortunately for me, in my neck of the woods contractors are so busy that they can pick and choose the job that will get them the most profit. So a garage that has about the same footprint as yours but is only 1.5 stories high cost me 30 grand! And that was with begging and pleading just to take the job! You guys with the $15-$16 thousand pricetags are killing me. Joe
  16. They are not the same. You should start with a harness and ECM from an 83 turbo car. If you need a harness and ECM let me know. Joe
  17. Is the intercooler the one they have for the Skyline? Did you have to modify it? Joe
  18. Need more info!!! What turbo? Intercooler? Are the injectors O ring on a custom rail? Need more!! Very nice numbers!
  19. GN stays GM and the Z stays Nissan (for now!). I already have a GM motor in a Z but it has two more cylinders! The way I want to do it is when the 3.8 gets upgraded the stock parts go on the 2.8. So far I've done it with the injectors now I'm looking at the intercooler. And Scottie is right, 86 and 87 are intercooled. Joe
  20. As some of you know, I also have an 87 GN. Just trying to justify upgrading the GN to a front mount. Two upgrades for the price of one! Joe
  21. Ken's car is now at Bob Ida's of Ida's Automotive waiting to go on the dyno. Ken has a little more wiring to do, injectors and distributor, but the installation is almost finished. I'm waiting for him to send me a copy of the installation and configuration manual to see how it compares with my TEC. Hopefully he got it last night and will forward it to me today. Joe
  22. Got mine at Radio Shack. If you have trouble I can mail you one. I have others that are a different part number but will also work. The relay idea will work but it is more trouble than the diode fix. Joe
  23. If you go to the internally regulated alt your gonna need the diode.
  24. You have to put a diode in series on the wire that goes to the "L" terminal on the back of the alternator. The "L" terminal is the bottom contact on the "T" shaped connector. You have to connect the cathode of the diode (identified by a stripe on that end of the diode) to the "L" terminal and the anode (other end of the diode) to the wire that previously went to the "L" terminal. In my case (71 240Z) this was a white with black stripe wire. This prevents the "L" terminal current from feeding back into the ignition circuit when the key is turned off. I used a 1N5400. The diode costs about a quarter so it's worth a shot. Joe
  25. What is the footprint Mike? I did mine 22'x34'. Holds both Z's, the GN and the bike with a spot left over for the recliner, fridge, bench, TV and computer! Could only use the second story for storage since I would need a variance to go higher than 15' and one of the neighbors was already pissed that I was putting it on his side of the yard!
