  1. i gave up on high tech/expensive tires street tires when i melted a set of yoko avs tires at sears point.now i run used tires that i get free on street and have a set of kumho victor racer track tires for the driver school days.no substitute for a good set of real track tires.but it doesnt rain much where i live.
  2. in some of the used jap engine shops around here i have seen what is supposed to be a jap spec engine for a car called cima.it is a dohc 24 valve v6 with a ball bearing turbo.price about $900.you would need a after markit efi system-engine has direct fire coil-on -plug system.
  3. i have gc springs & coil overs on my car.i just cut the old perch off with a big right angle grinder and welded the ring on where the instructions said to .it works fine.test slide the threaded tube and the weld ring on to make sure the housing is ground down enough before welding.used a mig .
  4. does any body know what the ratios are for 84 t5 trans.i got one at pick&pull last weekend just cause it was cheap.
  5. i dont know anything about chevy t5s but i am a ford tech so i know about mustang t5s.the oem mustang t5 has a 3.35 ist gear.the wc t5 has a 2.95 1st.the wc t5 is supposed to have stronger gears & bearings in it.if you put trans in first gear and have a bottle of white-out you can check 1st gear.you dont want to buy a used trans and find out you got ripped off.the conversion kit for oem trans to wc trans is $600 to$700 .for that money i would just buy a new wc trans from summit for $1100.
  6. has any body used the haltech e6k on a l28et engine?i am a tech at a ford dealer and i got a lot of free stuff stock piled.like a complete engine harness and coil-on plug set for a 4.6l 2000 truck engine.and lots of recalled explorer 65mm throttle bodys.i got the harness to cut off the plugs i need to solder to a flying lead harness.i like to scrounge parts if possable.i like to baffle the honda boys after i beat them.
  7. you can get a 4 bbl throttle body to go on the victor junior.there are fuel rail kits for the manifold with weld in injector bosses.after that it is your pick of ecm brand.a company called kinsler fuel injection has all this stuff.plus msd and others.the throttle body is shorter then carb.you can get a dual snorkel bonnet to put the air filters in front of radiator.another good company for general purpose fuel injection is twm induction.easist way to go would probably be a used tpi manifold/fuel rails/injectors with after markit ecmlike haltech,electromotive,sds.i have seen the victor jr with efi used on boats.
  8. the 75 to 78 z was beefed up because of the 5 mph bumper standard.i live in the central valley in california and somtimes you can get z cars for $200 or $300 bucks with little rust or none except for the battery tray.
  9. if you are building a z for any scca or nasa racing be sure to check the rules before buying a fuel cell.none of the cells in summit are legal for scca.the only cell usually spotted in a scca car is a fuel safe.
  10. i have a 77z -i run the gc 12" spring with 225 in front and 250 springs in rear.car will go real low but i found that isnt always the hot set up at sears point .
  11. i have willwood calipers with billit brackits & 84 zx rotors on back of my 77z.this works on the track but it squeeks loudly all of the time,the maxima set up should work fine .if u use the car on the track get some porterfield or carbotech pads.if yuo just run on street get some good low dust pads.the race pads throw off lots of carbon dust -nasty wheels.
  12. radiator should be all right.i run a 81zxt engine in 77z with ac on stock radiator.need to get a new fan clutch-it gets warm in fast food drive ups.
  13. has any body seen a 20b mazda engine in a zcar?this would be a good road race set up.plus the sound that one of these makes sounds like f1 car.
  14. same problem-the price for motorsport lock set is to high .need another source for lock set.does any body have another source?
  15. try changing tank to a 75 to 78 z tank.line out is 3/8 & has return line if needed
  16. the body shop at the ford dealer were i work has the correct stuff.it is a 2 part injection kit.4 gen camaros & trans ams use this in body.i cures with out air.the guys in body shop say that it will swell a body out if over filled.try shopping at a body/paint supply store.
  17. does anybody know anything about the turbo on a japan spec cima.i saw one of these at a used engine shop in berkley ca.the turbo says ball bearing on it.would a be a cheap upgrade over stock 81zxt turbo? icould probably get it for $100.
  18. its a bolt in .i run a 82 zx trans in my 77.fur rears check 200sx and 810s late 280 zx had a 3.9 r200.wre i live pick & pull sells diffs for $50.the late zx trans has the best 5th for freeway use.i run a 3.54 and get about 2800 rpms at 80mph in 5th.
  19. to mount my shoulder belts i welded tabs to some 1.5 in tube and bolt it to the oem shoulder harness holes.then i attached harnesses to the cross bar.
  20. i just read an article in sport compact car on a 300zxtt build up .they injected structural foam into rocker panels and frame rails to stiffen the body.this is a 2 part foam that some late model cars use from factory.they said they thought the body should be 40% stiffer.this is not spray foam insullation.this stuff came from body/paint supply for oem repair to new cars.the issue is june 2000.i am going to do this to my 77
