  1. if you are building a car for road racing in scca they have very specific rules on cells.the cheapo summit ones are no good.fuel cell has to have a metal case and inner liner.the only cells i see a tracks i go to are atl and fuel safe.
  2. put a test gauge that is mechanical on engine.the stock sender goes out somtimes.if presure is low remove pan & check rod bearings and pick up tube.if rings were that bad you would be smoking.smell oil to see if it is gasoline contaminated.good luck
  3. jason -they have water air intercoolers-goto spearco website.the honda guys drag race with these by running ice water through them from ice chest and 12 volt rv water pump.i dont know how long water would stay cold on street.in the middle 80s i installed a water ic kit in a 280 zx .but i cant remember where kit came from.
  4. this winter i will be installing a scca approved roll bar and tying it in to a side bar that runs just underarm rest and to a cross bar under dash and tye in a 2x2 beam in floor board to make car more riged.plus structurel foam fill.paint is crackin at seam on b pillar.i know what i want but how it gets done is like art-1 piece at a time.a friend of mine has a 94 mustang that just had many thousands of $ spent at griggs racing and car feels totally different because of subframe/cage combo.car actually rides better.maybe 150 lbs of steel has somthing to do about it.
  5. will the hat slide over wheel studa or bolt to back of hub like stock rotor?i wish i had some old race car parts to play with.i friend of mine has a willwood set up with the 12.17x1.25 rotors and adaptor and hats from dp racing-works real good but was in $800 range.
  6. i am a tech at a ford dealer -those things are huge!i will have to measure one -i dont think a z has a big enough front end to hold one of these.i get parts at cost + 20%.maybe i will have to warrenty one for a small leak hehe.
  7. i have been needing a front brake upgrade and noticed some of the aftermarkit calipers use the 3.5" bolt spacing on caliper that z cars have.calipers like willwood,sierra.outlaw.but what rotors to use?maybe eighties toyota supra/cressida?i dont have old willwood caliper around to work on this.or thinking of building adaptor to bolt to rotor mounting surface on hub to run coleman race rotors.the toyota calipers are heavy.got any trashed calipers around to use for test fitting?
  8. ever see a 20bt 3 rotor mazda twin turbo?engine will fit easy in z
  9. i run the toyota calipers on stock rotors.barely enough for road course tracks with custom porterfield pads that eat rotors.try design products in huntington beach ca.i put one of there willwood kits on a 240 race car.the front rorors are standard nascar sportsman rotors with 4 piston calipers.12.25 by 1.25 rotorsrear is 84 zx rotors wth willwood 2 piston calipers.car will be guarenteed safe then.my buddy drives real deep into turns and brakes are always there.tried to abuse them at laguna seca-no luck car always stops.
  10. another thing to check-pull vacuem lime from fuel pressure regulater off while engine is running-line should be dry inside and fuel should not be coming out.
  11. no smog parts on 72 cars right now but you never know.the real drag was when my 77 came up for renewal.it has a 81 zxt engine.had to put cat on,egr solonoids, evap cannister.but now i got a neato sticker in my door frame.the test only thing sucks-that is why i had to certify the swap.
  12. i used those things for a while but took them out and put in urathene & out camber plates on top.could never get enough - camber for the track.track alinment is -3.2 camber 0 toe front -2.5 camber .25"toe rear
  13. please post pictures!i have 77z that i use for street car and for deivers schools at sears point, laguna seca, thunderhill.i will be putting in a scca legal roll bar this winter and will be adding some side tubing running just under door handles and a tube running under dash.want pictures on frame rail work.
  14. z & zx run 0 offset.all the new trendy wheels are usually in honda offset==32 mm inward /some guys that race z use panasport & other racing wheels that arent trendy but fit.that is why there are spacers/adaptors around.but i would use these on a race track
  15. i have thought about using a 5.0 ford and turning the shorty headers anound to feed a front mount turbo.since ford distributor is in front u could place engine way far back.i have lifted a bare 302 block -it is lighter than l28 block.after using aluminum heads and other i dont think the difference in weight would be much.ford 302 has a short deck heigth.block is very small.
  16. when i am in osaka in 2 months i am going to check into the prices on used engines there and on customs/importation problem.
  17. i THINK t5 bolts onto old 4spd bellhousing.cleveland uses 460 bellhousing pattern.time to test fit parts.
  18. .8 to .9 is fine to start with.if you can afford it runs the bugs out of install job and break in motor and buy some dyno time.
  19. maybe if you stuff the engine under the dash board like late model camaros.length might be a problem.width ok.
  20. try tire rack advertisemt in a car& driver mag or goto website.my favorite tire for street is bridge stone re71.quiet,good ride, very good grip wet or dry.i ahd yoko avs before too-this tires hooked into rain grooves on freeway and steered car around.
  21. my coil overs run 12" springs.the camber plates lower car about 1".i have had willwood calipers on back of my carfor 40000 miles and no problems.i use my turbo z for a daily driver and school car.i put a set of cobra r wheels and bear brakes on a mustang for a guy on a saturday.the tires wre big yoko avs.when setting brake balence uo the big tires gripped LESS than smaller tires.seemed like they slid on pavement with out biting into it.tires would bite if heated on track though.$3000 or $4000 worth of goodies and i really wasnt impressed.for street use i run 280zxt wheels with 205-60 15.with free used tires so i dont feel bad abourt smoking them off.
  22. do not use carrera camber plates-car will rattle on every bump.i have carrera in rear and ground control in front.ground control fir best but arenr cheap.my rattling is from heavy springs 225f 250 r.but i can beat a trailered in its zcar at the track.they got little 240 engines .
  23. i run 225 in front &250 in rear.never tried this but i dont think it bottems outon struts .the car hits on 3" exhaust.

it would probably be cheaper to buy a new wc t5 from summit.the splines on input shaft are different but if you put a mustang cluth disc in it it would work or have a disc made up.the wc t5 ratios are about the same as 82 83 zx trans.ihavent tried to bolt a wc trans to a zxt bell housing though but it should work.
  25. tbi throttle body units-the unit that came on 454 ci truck engine had 2" throttle blades.you might max out on injector pulse width with a thirsty motor but would work on a mild (300 hp or so) small block.it would not be hard to build an adaptor plate to put a tbi unit on a 4bbl manifold.you could probably get every thing from a truck wrecker for 2 or 300 bucks.then start burning chips.not very high tech but how many million gm trucks are on the road with this set up.
