  1. want to see rear arms when done-please post picture.
  2. mike -you wont have any problems cause this front set up works-a buddy has the willwood version.e mail me if you goto neveda-ely is about 7 hours from my house.
  3. it would use a t56 trans.i am not taliking about drag racing-just a car that you drive to work and floor it on the freeway when you get room.i am building project cars for people as a side job.i have a customer that wants a replica 66 vette with a custom built chassis and all high tech stuff.these type of cars dont get driven much but it doesnt matter.a car isnt good unless it is fun which means it should be easy to use.it would have to have a stout bottem end to not be a bomb.i told my buddy ths would be better than a car with a huge cam thaat doesnt idle.when you get over 40 you no longer want to have to ride a rockit bike to go fast
  4. a friend of mine says this cant be a daily driver.i say this could be done for $10 to $12grand.recipe-get old 4 bolt truck block.get good heads ,all roller valve train, forged blower pistons.put some injectors bosses on victor jr manifold .build exhaust manifoldsget a couple of turbos and a large intercooler and sds system.have a custom cam ground.engine should get 20+ mpg on freeway at 1800 rpm.engine should idle for 2 or 3 hours at a time in hot weather(reno-hot augest nights) with out miss or overheat.engine should start without throttle sitting in snowstorm.the girlfriend or missess should be able to goto store if throttle is not overused with out a phone call.life expectancy 100,000 miles with a full boost evry 25 miles.i think this could be done-if you can get 350 hp from a l28 than a 350 chevy at 16psi should do it.

    TPS and SDS

tps needs to be bolted down on a plate that can be rotated for adjustment.did you order tps in proper rotation?there is a tps for clockwise or counterclockwise rotations.i cant afford sds yet but when i do i have a piece of .250 aluminum plate to adapt tps to oem tps holes.when you do fine tuning on oem(ford& chevy) efi tps voltage setting is a fine adjustment that gets better throttle response.
  6. i might be interested after i see price.i have a set designed out of billit aluminum each cut on lathe from 1 piece.i have the cv axles and a 3.7 lsd laying around.one of the features of using this adaptor or yours over the oem unit is that the axles fit better-the cv joints arent as compressed.i forgot to mention that the my design is still in paper stage.
  7. if a person was installing a programmable efi system like sds it seems like it would be better to run system at set pressure at all times instead of using a regulater that varies pressure by manifold vacuem pressure.like a constant 50 psi and make all adjustments with injector pulse width.i think the system would be easier to program this way.please post opinions
  8. i would first try summit at 800 # since its free.next try kinsler injection or twm induction.kinsler is like a supply house to race teams .you know-people that know what they want or what they are building.not people with $30 worth of tools and big dreams.i had one of thier catalogs and lost it but it was very informative.twm has lots of trick stuff -like throttle bodys that bolt to weber manifolds so you could build a 6 throttle fi system.if you are really a cheapo like me you could just copy the rail on sds website and powder coat it.
  9. to z dreamer on chevy 4 cammer suggestion on getting a trans on it-chevy s10 0r camaro bell housing.i always thought it would be nice to put a taurus sho motor in my z since i am a ford tech.engine was built by yamaha.will rev to 11 grand after ecm reprogram.
  10. i checked out your site last night .every thing worked fine.please dont lose any good pictures.if you were really into software you could do the click on picture thing like smut sites .
  11. i have a 84 300zxt t5 for sale if you want it.what i have been wondering about is bolting a world class t5 to a l28zxt bellhousing if i ever build a high hp turbo motor.this would be easiest way to get a semi-beefy trans behind l28.
  12. i put a willwood 4 piston caliper/coleman 12" stock car rotor setup on a friends 240 z road race car and brakes were tortured for 3 hours at laguna with no problems.on a open road course brake pad choice will be critical because some of the heavy duty road race pads wont grab when cold-if you have used brakes in last 10 miles and then go for them you will get a thrill.but there are lots of pad choices for willwood/outlaw 4 piston caliper so i know you will find some pads that will work.the willwood polymatrix b pads i use on back of my car work but really mess up wheels.you will be upset after you find that hot pad material burns its way into your wheels and does not come out.if you use race calipers and pads you will have dirty wheels and squeeky brakes.
  13. i got a 1 1/16 suspension techniques front bar laying around cause it was too stiff with front springs i am using .went to 7/8 bar and understeer problem at turn 6 at sears point went away.my point-if car feels like it is good on street you still dont know what will happen under track conditions.you know you are really into r&D when you have stuff you bought & ran one day at track and took it off.
  14. if you pull the harness out carefully you wiil find engine harness is separate from body harness.get the factory ford wiring book (called evtm) for your motor and it will be easy.painless has harness for conversion but they are not cheap.if you are doing a early z get a gas tank from a 75 or 76 cause it has more hose fittings and outlet is 1/2".
  15. if i used a ford 8.8 i would probably use the ford half shafts and get ends resplined to 280zxt cv joints after shortening shafts.i have seen a picture of rayne motorsports rear irs chassis clip but it looks too wide for a z car.if i was going to drag race a z i would probably just through a straight axle with a 9" and be done .probably a 3 link with panhard bar and 280zx struts.
  16. the last body style t bird with v8 or sc motor had 8.8.or lincoln mk8 or 2000 up cobra.lincoln & cobra had all aluminum housing.common gearing is 2.83, 3.08,3.27.unit is lighter than r200.if i built a v8 z for freeway use i would use this diff.mounting wouldnt be hard to do.got a salseman at work(i am a tech at a ford dealer) that drag races a 2000 cobra and rear hasnt blown up yet but trans and engine have.
  17. when i was in high school i put a 4bbl manifold and carb on a 2 barrel 350 firebird.it went 135 with 2 barrel and went 110 with 4 barrel.engines are like people-every one is different.people messing around with jetting on cars are lucky-i got the jetting lean on one of my atvs and put a hole in a $120 piston.make sure your write down specs on jetting.
  18. most guys make there own-try army surplus or scrap metal place for aluminum plate.you can cut it with jig saw.
  19. a question -some of the willwood & other aftermarkit calipers have same bolt pattern as early z caliper ears.need an adaptor to put coleman rotors on z hubs with willwood calipers.
  20. i was reading this monthes issue of sand sports magazine and came across an ad for t3/t4 turbo for $330 new.called to get specs -.63 turbine side /60-1 compressor side .except the guy told me price was wrong -its $370.so i told him to send it.supposed to have waste gate with it.for that price it is better than rebuilding stock unit.
  21. dont feel bad jeromio-my kumho track tires are mounted on old enkie wheels from pick&pull.the wheels are light and 15x7 size-the old mesh type.i use murphy's law to my advantage-i tell my self that the time i buy some new high tech wheels i will probably bend one at the track.

    SDS injector ???'s

morgan-do those 420cc injectors use oem fuel rail?new injectors and fuel rail are a cost consideration when changing to sds since you have to specify to them what you are using for injectors at time of ordering.i would probably build a new fuel rail anyway to make install look cleaner.
  23. i read an article in a 4x4 mag about them.they take the place of the side gears and spider gears.easy install.dont know much about engagement smoothness though.never really had a traction problem on road courses any way .
  24. rb26dett is a skyline motor.every body wants one but they are rare and expensive.best way to install a l28et is with sds efi system.i have a 77 with a 81zxt engine .i hooked it all up with oem computor a wire harness but it was a b@#$%.car is certified in california-got caught at last registration for smog check.except for wiring every thing else bolts in .best trans is 82 or 83 na zx trans-best ratios with r200 3.9 rear.
  25. i run 225 in front & 250 in rear and car works good on track.if spring is too stiff tires wont hook to ground-especially if you are on public roads.call ground control-thats where i got parts for my car.
