APO ? Like a military address? I live overseas and have a military address and It all depends how it was shipped. Stuff shipped priority or express usually isn't a problem but stuff shipped regular (slow boat) can take well over a month. I've had several things over the years that we had assumed were lost show up months later. Good luck

I think I have figured out why Everything happened with my car. Let me give a little back ground info. Time line -Bought 78 280x for 700.00 -Drove car twice and was told that it had a blown head gasket. -Car sits for close to a year while I read hybridz everyday and wait for money to do something. -Finally get money and have car taken to Neapolitan mechanic. (if you ever been to Naples you know the difference) -Told that the car not only has a blow cracked head but also a cracked piston. -Decide to commit to car and order all new pistons and rings for car and various other parts and find a head used somewhere. -Couple of months later I still can't find a head that doesn't need to be rebuilt. This is a problem Because I don't trust the mechanic to do It right. -Around this same time I remember that the previous owner told me the military had lost the title to the car. The mechanic saying he's going to have to take the engine to a another shop that specializes in rebuilding motors. In classic Neapolitan behavior he can't give me a solid price for how much all of this will cost. - With pressure being put on me by the military to do something with my car because the inspection has been expired for almost a year and the facts that with the exchange rate and the unknown price is coming close to 3500 to 4000 dollars for a car that I don't have a title for and will have to pay around 1800 to ship back to the states. -So I decide to cut my losses and scrap the car. -Another six month go by and I still haven't scraped the car. It turns out a new guy at work has a friend that owns the only other 280z around. We come to a dill and I sale him the car and all parts for 500$. -Several months later ( two months ago) I go to the scrap yard to turn In what left of the car. As I am doing this I notice that there is a bunch of paperwork sitting on the seat. As I am going through it I come to an envelope with the original title in it. Now for the reason I believe this was karma. one year prior to the purchase of my z I came across a 79 280z. I started talking to the guy and turned out he wanted to sale it. In the end I decided not to buy for several reason most of all being that it was an automatic. To make a very long story short I think the universe was trying to tell me that It had given me what I wanted once and I had been a dumb *** so it was going to teach me a lesson. Sorry so long, but I think of this everyday as I read all the post on this site.

The only thing I can compare it to is an old skateboard wheel. I know very little about turbos, but my uneducated mine leads me to think the bearing might be bad. The reason I mentioned the wastegate was because I only heard the noise when I pushed In the clutch between shifts. I think that is when the wastegate or blow off valve would come into effect.

I drove a jdm spec wrx a while back and every time I shifted I could here the bearing from the turbo . I asked the owner and he said it had a ball bearing turbo and that the waste gate dumped into the exhaust. Which of course had a huge muffler on it. I guess my question is what should it sound like ? Should you here anything or is that sound normal ? It reminded me of an old skateboard with dirty wheels and bearings. needless to say I didn't buy the car cause it was a disappointment. I guess to much time reading magazines about non stock wrx's .

I found the wheel on buy.com for $109. Appears to be regular price with no rebates to mail in.

One more thing to keep in mind is that plasma's sometimes loose rows of pixels. I have a 42' Samsung and it happened to mine after one year of 12 to 14 hours a day of being on. The store I bought it from said they had more then one brought back with the same problem.

I was looking in a truck magazine a while back and they did a install of a new turbo kit that mounted the turbo in the back of a trunk by the muffler. Has anyone heard of this and what's your opinion.

I came across a 93 25gts for 3k. The owner previously told me that he had to replace the auto trans. twice already and it was hard to find parts unless you know someone in Japan. I now live in Italy. My question is there any other auto trans. that I could use that might be more available and is the car awd or rwd. Thanks

Will a N47 head work on a n42 block? If so does anything need to be done? Most of the search topics were about which head is better.

We'll it looks like I am going to have to scrap my car. I can't seam to find a head that's ready to install. I just wanted to say thanks for everyone who replied to my posts and tried to help. My car has a lot of good parts inside and out. I going to try and wait a week to see if anybody wants anything. Parts will be very very cheap, maybe even free. Let me know what you want. It's a 78

I hope you don't mind me through my two cents in here. They look like they should be rear vents. Because you have wide flares up front. If you look at the Mercedes and the JakartaZ the vent is in the center of the fender. The other cars don't have your cars hour glass shape. Either way your car is still one of my favorite ones.

I was going to buy a used one from one of the guys here for $50. I guess that up to the seller. What year is your car?

I can't offer any help on your head question, but I am in desperate need of a n42 head. Maybe you can help me out and make a little extra money in the process.Let me know. Thanks

The main problem I have is lack of knowledge on my part.I only drove my car twice before I realized it had a blown head. I am currently living in Italy and I don't speak Italian. If I try and rebuild or modify the head and screw up I am screwed. So finding a head shop that know about nissans and understands what I want is pretty much out of the question. If one knows of a head shop or someone who has one please help .

My main issue is finding a head.I going to try and find out if I can return my pistons for flat tops. There still in the box from victorybritish.I would like to find a n42 head but so far no luck.If anyone knows of a good place let me know please.Time is somewhat of a issue. Thanks

My n42 head that I have been waiting on for near a month as fallen through and now I need a find a new fast. I gotten a line on a p90.My question is other then lowering my compression are there any other side effects? Would I require any different parts to make it work? If anybody has a head let me know. Thanks

putting a stock 83 turbo on a stock 78 na engine
naplesZ replied to MaTTSuN's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
Would it be possible to run a turbo computer on an NA motor? I have a 78 NA with a N42 head. I don't have access to a turbo motor because I live overseas, but I could possibly peace one together. -
I've read in some magazines that lowering the weight of you wheels can make a difference in horse power.Something about rotational mass.Maybe not horsepower but improve acceleration. Is that pretty much the same thing?
-
Thanks

does anybody know the weight of the factory 80;s turbo rims?

I'm getting my motor rebuilt and I'm waiting for a used n42 head to come in. My question is should I get it rebuilt or if everything looks good put it on and go. I was told it was taken off a running car and that it looks good. The guy letting me try it before I pay him so what's to lose. If I should rebuild it what would I want to replace? Thanks
-
I have one bad piston so I think I'm going to replace all of them. If I go ahead and just replace the stock na ones would that keep me from using a supercharger? This will probably never happen but my neighbor has a sc thunderbird just sitting there. I live over seas so a turbo swap isn't possible. Would I want to use the turbo pistons instead. Can you use turbo pistons on a n42 head? Would it be possible to use the sc with just a stock motor running low boost. Would I need a new ecu? Can anyone recommend a good book to read about superchargers?

My easy head job is now turning in to a new head (used one) and a cracked piston. So my question is should I just replace one or all ? If one is cracked then the others probably have been exposed to the same things. It is a na 78 with over 270k. Money is an issue but I don't want to have to do it again six months from now. Thanks
