  4. sounds interesting, make sure to post pics once complete. I am going to smooth and paint the dash to match the car...stripes and all. Of course, i have to paint the car first for the dash to match too. A dirty primer gray and white splotched dash wouldn't look so good. good luck with your project!
  5. Those panels look new. Nice work. The guy i bought my car from sanded and fiberglassed over the center console and dash. It looks really good and is stinking strong now. If you are going to pull your dash, you might think about repairing it versus putting the cap back on.
  6. The widest point on the bolstering for the seat area is about 22", the back of the seat is almost 20". Note the mounting frame is more narrow than 22" and you should measure between your inner door seal and the inner edge of the center console to determine if the 22" width will fit. Also consider room to reach the seat adjustment controls on the side and if you are planning on running any roll cage bars around the seat.
  7. Not from what i can tell. When I get home I will take some measurements of the width of the seat at the front and at the back. I will be suprised if it will fit a 280 as there isn't much room around the seat in my 240.
  8. yo appreciate the compliment...love the widebody, and the LS-1 on your Z...what r you doing next?

  9. Ditto....Stance is very important, but you have to be able to use that stance.......and it sure doesn't look like it can be used to me. Its very cool looking, but i would be afraid to drive it and isn't that the point? Lets not confuse the aesthetics of "stance" versus the function of stance. A Nascars stance from one side versus the other looks pretty stupid up close, but it serves a real function. The typical gasser stance looks dumb to me also, but having the front end sit up high and loose helps in drag racing.
  10. I bought the car from Grenade300 and I am not sure how much he is still in the Z scene since he just went to Germany. Scott, let me know if it seems like:hijack: to you. The motor and tranny are out of a 2002 Camaro SS. Yes a GTO engine would be about the same. Make sure you buy from a reputable source and the engine comes with the original wiring harness and ECU.
  11. I like your brackets... I did it the way i did because i do not have welder and was too lazy to run out and buy some brackets. It was a PITA to get the seats to line up right in the car and on the existing bracketry.
  12. I paid $330 on Ebay and they are in perfect condition. Shipping would have been $125, but i had a buddy pick them up for me on his way through the area and I gave him $50, soooo $380 overall. Not bad for a nice set of really comfortable, highly bolstered seats. note: these will not fit in the 280 and if you are 6'2" like me, you may have some fitment issues relative to head room. I am going to chop out the factory seat bracket and get some rails welded in that are around 1.5" shorter. I want to make sure there is plenty of room for a helmet later.
  13. I did not use any brackets when I did it. I just took my time, lined it all up, drilled new holes, then ran the bolts that came with the seats up from the bottom through the existing rails. I think the seat is too high (not enough head room), so i will be making new rails in the future for the seat to bolt too. I will probably run a bolt down from the top with that set up and have a nut welded on the back side of the new rails.
  14. Hey guys, I was the lucky one that purchased Grenade300's car before he headed out to Germany. I have ton's of pics from his conversion work and can take new ones if there is something you need to see from a different angle. Grenade is still the knowledge source as I just got the car, but I may be able to help as well. The John's Cars kit used to install the motor and tranny where developed on my Dad's car (Phantom) several years ago, so I do know a bit about this. The install work and parts on this car are phenominal, but as Grenade said the fuel cell is an issue and the pump is LOUD! I have a solution I am working on for the tank and will post the info on it once complete. There is a trap door set up that can be worked in around the sump to prevent run off and if you have an aluminum tank you can have walls welded in accross the tank forming a grid pattern through it with holes at the bottom of each section to allow flow through, but prevent sloshing. No fuel sloshing = a less abrupt weight shift in cornering/braking and would limit the fuel from running away from the sump. I started a photobucket that I will start posting pics at. Just let me know if there is anything you want posted and I will try to assist. http://photobucket.com/DarthZ
  15. Looking at your links, i guess you can't get the RB-R any more and the widest the RB runs is 8.5" in the 17's. Although the sizes they have are sufficient for most stock body Z's and a few of the flare kits. I'm glad i got the 9 and 9.5 in the RB-R while they were making them.
  16. Don't know for sure, but everyone i have seen has the polished lip.
  17. Yes, there was some issue with the fronts clearing the valance when turning. See pics below of the temporary fix. I am planning on getting a new fiberglass or rubber lower valance anyway, so I didn't mind "massaging" the existing one a bit to get the tires in there. I also had to cut the metal where the fender bolts to the lower valance. It is not cut yet in the bottom pic, but you can see why it needed it.
  18. Pics of the brackets would be good for the thread. I made what was there work for me...for now. I didn't need a bracket at all for the driver side and only put on the passenger side back inner mount point as it was off of the stock mount. WARNING for all of you out there that are 6'2" or over, these seats may be too tall for you. I am 6'2". These seats are crazy comfortable and I fit them great, but I had to find just the right spot for me to not bump the ceiling. When i get to it, I am going to cut out the existing seat brackets and replace them with some much more solid steel and set the mounts about 1.5" lower.
  19. Yes, gun metal centers, polished lip. I another pic tonight with the full set of shoes on.
  20. See pics below from installation. It took a few hours, but didn't require anything but drilling some new holes. Oh and the bottom pic is to show how "SAC" compliant they really are. The boy in the pic is 2yrs old.
  21. Here are test fit pics of some 275/40's on my 17x9.5 Rota RB-R's. I pick up the correct BF Goodrich Super Sport AS tires tomorrow night. Gonna put 245/40's up front. Will post front pics later.
  22. I just voted for the "Blue Oval" and sent emails to others to vote ASAP.
  23. Got my seats yesterday. Might start install this weekend. Do you have any pics of your brackets, how thick of a piece of metal did you use and where did you get the metal at? Thanks http://i878.photobucket.com/albums/ab343/DarthZ_photo/NewSeats.jpg
  24. What Wheel size and offsets and what tire sizes are you running. I am thinking about the 280YZ flares and am having a real time of figuring out what i would need to fill out those flares. I have the RB-R 17x9.5 rear and17x9 front wheels, not mounted yet.
  25. I am not sure how you would function, sitting that low. Oh, i think it looks cool, but my car has a 4.5" ground clearance and I really have to pay attention where i drive. This pic appears to put the car maybe 3" up and is in a parking garage. I don't know about everywhere, but the garages here all have speed bumps in them.........stupid speed bumps.......
