  1. Thanks for getting things rolling Chelle. Currently there are 100 people watching this thing and I've gotten a lot of inquiries. ...gonna miss you guys!
  2. OK, I'm going to try this again...I hope those sensitive Italians don't shut me down again. I've split it into two auctions this time so the body kit/donor car is at an even lower starting price ($2000). The suspension alone is worth about that much. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280375407486&viewitem=&_trkparms=tab%3DSelling#v4-34 This auction is for the engine and transmission set-up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280376147344&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT If anybody out there is even halfway serious about a project like this, here is your chance to start with a big head start at a low entry cost.
  3. My listing was shut down because Ferrari S.p.A filed a complaint. I wonder if this is a sign!
  4. I hope whoever completes it does a good job: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280365800069&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT ...think I'll go throw-up now.
  5. Beautiful car! Would be even better w/out the fart-box.
  6. No offense, but unless you are in production restorations, the Roller Hoop costs $1995.00. I fabbed a rotisserie in less than a day for $150 in materials (at most) and sold it to one of the members here for $150 when I was done. The car was on it for 6 months and the thing worked perfectly for this project. As you can see, I had full access to everywhere on the body. Go get your weld on!
  7. Sounds personal...be careful not to cut yourself!
  8. OK, you finished your car. Would you please post a nice, big bunch of photos from all angles and the interior. We have gotten shots of the undercarriage, the fender, the bonnet latch, etc. but I would like to see a full layout. Come on, its cold, I can't work on my car now and I need a little inspiration!
  9. HER DIARY Saturday night I thought he was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink. I was shopping with my friend all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment. Conversation wasn't flowing so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk, he agreed but he kept quiet and absent. I asked him what was wrong he said nothing. I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said it had nothing to do with me and not to worry. On the way home I told him that I loved him, he simply smiled and kept driving. I can't explain his behavior; I don't know why he didn't say I love you too. When we got home I felt as if I had lost him, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there and watched T.V. He seemed distant and absent. Finally I decided to go to bed, about 10 minutes later he came to bed and to my surprise he responded to my caress and we made love, but I still felt that he was distracted and his thoughts were somewhere else. I decided that I could not t ake it anymore so I decided to confront him with the situation but he had fallen asleep. I started crying and cried until I too fell asleep. I don't know what to do. I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- HIS DIARY Played AWFUL today! Shot a 98. I can't putt for sh!t!!!! Got laid though.
  10. Do you know who did the conversion? What kit? From what I understand, most eary Z convertible conversions to use the top frame from other cars such as TR7s, etc.
  11. Did you try Black Dragon? http://www.blackdragonauto.com/features/z/zds1.htm
  12. Try Hawks Third Generation Firebird/Camaro parts: http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/
  13. Here is the link to the 1st generation CIVIC forum that many GTO builders used to source the door buttons: http://www.1stgencivic.org/world/c1zr/m1/forum/viewforum.php?f=5&sid=5e2a554c71216846ff1e8399ad0f7d7b
  14. Here you go... http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96738 Good luck, they have become a real pain in the arse to find.
  15. I think this little guy might take a chomp: http://www.pond5.com/stock-footage/95699/spiny-bush-cricket-panacanthus-cuspidatus.html
  16. Hi Filmjay, For me, what started out as a quick clean-up on a 280Z before installing a Velo Rossa body kit, turned into a full rotisserie restoration and modification. The car is back on the ground now and all the body panels are being fitted. Just so you know, almost every piece from the kit needed to be cut and reshaped to fit properly. This was hardly a bolt-on install so be ready for LOTS of fabrication. A lot of work also went into stiffening the body (sub-frame connectors, enforced rocker panels, etc.). My main piece of advise for a project like this is that you will need a multitude of fabrication skills. About everything pertaining to this can be found on this website but just be sure you are not bitting off too much. This is definately not a cheap date or a quick one! Good luck and keep everyone updated on your progress!
  17. I'm doing a 250 GTO rebody so I liked the idea of a higher reving engine. I contemplated a 283 for quite a while but wound up going 327 (put a forged large journal 327 crank in a 4 bolt 350 block). The car has not been completed yet so I don't have performance numbers but as SpeedRacer mentioned, as light as these cars are, it should be fun.
  18. It seems like mounting the remote filters upside down would actually work better than the sbc factory postion. If you installed a drain valve in the line below the filters, you could drain them before removal.
  19. I fabbed an extension from a cardboard tube to make sure everything fit properly. Then I cut the metal pipe to the same dimensions as the tube and welded it on. I am using a Jaguar gas cap and an RX7 fuel tank and had to make a filler tube with a pretty funky bend in it. This method worked fine for this so it should be a breeze to make a basic extension.
  20. Hi again Michael, Is the engine in your car? What engine and exhaust system are you running/plan to run?
  21. What I mentioned previously, (sectioning struts in front, 240 isolators in the back and coilovers all the way around) should take care of it. I have also heard of people using the front isolators from a 280Z on the back to acheive the same effect. When I put my 280 front isolators next to the rear 240 ones they looked to be the same but I can't confirm. You can find the 240 isolators at one of the many dealers for used Z parts. I have purchased quite a few parts from the Z Barn: http://www.zbarn.com/index.html It also looks like you have 14" wheels on your car. Most of the wheels I've seen used (especially wire knock-offs) are 15" and fill out the wheel wells nicely after the above mentioned mods have been done. Sectioning the strut towers, changing out the isolators and going to coilovers is a lot of work and is going to cost some money but it is pretty much agreed by most builders & kit manufacturers that these are required modifications for a GTO replica. I'll try and take a few pics of my car after these changes and post them here.
  22. Hi Michael, What model is your car? (240, 260 or 280). My car is not completed but I have finished the suspension and the lowering of the car. If you have a 280Z you can easily lower the rear by swaping out the top isolator perchs on the struts with 240 isolators. This alone should get you about 1-1 1/2" lower in the back. I sectioned the front struts by an inch and a half and am using MR2 front cartridges. I have coilovers all around the car so making adjustments to the front and back is easy. This set-up really makes the car sit nicely. If you have a 240Z the strut housings should be sectioned in the front and rear. One of the members here has a good website documenting his V/R build. He is using a 240 platform and covers the sectioning of his strut towers here: http://marcsgarage.net/pics/coilovers Post some pics of your car showing it's current height if you can.
  23. Cool! What kit are you working on? Scorpion?
  24. Are you referring to the rings that go around the headlights? Con Brio is referring to the metal trim that goes around the plexi headlight covers.
  25. Where have you been!??? The last post I remember reading from you was after you got the LS1 installed and running and were getting ready to start on the body (how long ago was that?). Glad to see you are back, I was beginning to worry that you'd pulled a James Dean in your VR or something! I'm about at the same point with my body work as you so we may be able to help each other out with info. I thought about cutting the drip rails (there is plenty of info on HybridZ about this) but after seeing a few completed ones I decided the work involved did not justify the result. I've seen one other LS1 VR post here but there may be more.
