  1. Congrats! My wife not only let me take on a Z hybrid project, she also bought me a great heater for the shop so I could work on it for hours without seeing her. Hey...wait a minute!
  2. I think most of the $100k went for dope while he was making it.
  3. I saw the show too. It was really cool the way they cut the aluminum frame. The V10 is truely bad ass, I first saw it when Ford was using it in the Boss 351 prototype (sounds great too). I don't love the body but I do love the fact that Ford is willing to let this project happen. Shelby was not involved in the project but it was good seeing him drive the car. For an 81 year old man it didn't look like he was holding back too much when he was doing the burnouts and donuts.
  4. Soooo...your a Guiness man. I knew I respected you! Anyway, glad to see the progress on the car, it looks great! I'm still working on installing my sub-frame connectors and these photos are a real motivation to feed my garage dwarf to the next door neighbor's dog.
  5. Man! Oh Man!....If that doesn't inspire everyone to get off their arces and work on their cars I don't know what will! The concept and execution of your "vision" is truely incredible Dan. Hats off to you! ...Now I've gotta go grind on my car.
  6. Hmmm.....BMW, Porsche, RR, Bently. Don't you wonder why so many high-end European cars are silver and not red? Because they don't need a screaming red paint job to look good! If I saw a red Bently coming down the road I would take a closer look to see the pimp driving it.
  7. Drewz, when you took your car to the frame shop was it stripped to the shell? My car is stripped. Can I tack in the SFC's and then take just the shell to the frame shop? If I can do this what should I be asking the tech to do other than checking the unibody for proper alignment? Thanks for the info!
  8. Just searching through the various postings it seems that there are enough people working on/interested in the Ferrari conversion to get something going. I guess the responces I get to this post will answer my question.
  9. Has any one tried to assemble the Ferrari replica people on this site into a sub-group to exchange body and replica information? If nobody knows of a posting on this site that links the Ferrari and exotic rebody projects together would the members on this site doing this type of project please list themselves. It would be really helpful to discuss things and share ideas on this subject.
  10. What does it mean when the photos on postings have the white background w/black frame and red X in them. The photo won't come up. Also, I'm getting a lot of "not authorized" or other messages when I go to sites or photos on postings. Has something expired? Someone please clue me in. Thanks in advance!
  11. Silver!...maybe w/flat black or matte black trim and accents. It's just very sophisticated and down to business (if you know what I mean). Like Bond...James Bond.
  12. Try looking at a few of your local pawn shops. Due to the rough economy the past couple of years many sawzalls have been pawned. I went into two pawn shops and saw literally piles of sawzalls. The good brands (Milwakee, Makita, etc.) were selling from $35-$45. I picked up a Makita for $35 and have had great results with it.
  13. Hey, never heard anything back about the valve covers on Speedracer's GTO replica. Has anyone ever seen these or know anything about them? Thanks.
  14. Not to get off the subject...but Speedracer where did you find those valve covers on your GTO replica? Any info would be greatly apprieciated; they are really cool!
  15. I've about got my 280 stripped to the shell and am getting ready cut out the rusty floors and install sub-frame connectors. I,m not sure if I should install them w/the car sitting level on jackstands or if I can get away w/doing it while on the rotisserie. I'm afraid of sagging if I do it on the spinner but it will be a heck of a lot easier to weld this way. Pete P./Marc Wagner please feel free to chime in. P.S. The transmission tunnel and rockers are solid but the floor is gone. Thanks
  16. Like or dislikes-I can't wait to see this thing finished. It looks like it's gona be bad to the bone! My first car was a 71" Mustang Mach 1 that was considered pretty bad also but nowhere near what this car will be.
  17. Sweet it is! I just made a post on 12/8 looking for high-flow cast iron manifolds. I,m building a Velo Rossa kit and want to keep as mush noise and heat under that fiberglass bonnett as possible. I almost became a coated header convert but these things are just what I was looking for! I've got aluminum heads, intake, etc. so I don't mind some extra weight. Thanks for the post!!!
  18. What year Astro Van radiator(s) are the best to use?
  19. The V12's in the origional Ferrari GTO's kicked out 290-300 horsepower at 7500 rpm. If you want to keep this replica true to form back off on the horsepower and go for revs. The 327 or a good 350 should do this nicely-and besides I've heard some scary stories about hotspots and overall heat problems w/the small block 400.
  20. The headers I see used the most seem to be Hooker brand block hugger headers. Any info as to which brands fit the best and have the best ceramic coating would be helpful. Since these headers run so close to the oil pan would an oil cooler be recomended?
  21. Heat is my greatest concern. I've heard so much about melting wires, etc. that I have kind of backed away from the idea of headers. Do the ceramic coated type really put off less heat than cast iron manifolds? If so then my choice has been made (they sure look better than stock manifolds!). Anyone else with knowledge of ceramic coated headers please chime in-I can use all the help I can get. Thanks, J.P.
  22. I have a set of aluminum heads off a 96' Vette. I haven't settled on a short block yet-was waiting to see what type of exhaust (manifolds) I wound up choosing. I have been told that the two previous mentioned exhaust manifolds would work w/these heads.
