Hi Tonycharger72, When I was doing that stage, before I removed the L6, I put a rod from the centre of the crank pulley at 90 degrees with a couple of welders magnetic squares and when this is brought forward it comes to the front center lower bolt hole for the grill. I then used a small laser with a packing piece under it to line this up with the crank, and with the engine out it lines up with the center of the diff. So you can measure how far back the back of the gearbox is and then using the laser and a tape measure, take some measurements from certain reference points. I hope that this makes sense. Rob

  14. Hi, I have just bought a VQ30det NEO in a '99 Cedric 1/2 cut to go into my 1974 260z. We got it home last Thursday and we hope to start it up tonight in the 1/2 cut.

  16. Hi Mike, I did mean VQ30DET, it is a 3ltr version of the new 350Z engine but with a single turbo and is available ex Japan from a Cedric I think. Some importers are bringing them into Australia. Robert
  17. I was wondering if anyone has any info on installing the VQ30DET into an early Z car? I was thinking that this might be good because it is a newer Nissan engine, apparently it is all alloy and has a timing chain instead of a belt. I'm not sure how wide it is or what transmissions are available for them? Also if they are a 6 cyl version of the VQ45 V8 , which I have seen a photo of in an early Z, if so it is fairly wide. If anyone can help with some info that would be great. Robert
