  1. I don't get you guys. I have an unsprung act 6 puck and it ain't hard to drive at all. I did have to adjust the clutch pedal to no play, because supposedly I stuck in the wrong size t/o bearing collar and the clutch slave explodes after two blocks. I'm about to take the tranny down again to try and change it. After reading that thread though, do you think it would for for me to drill a hole through the nipple and use the adjustable 240z rod?

  2. KA trans is not going to hold that kind of torque, and so far noone has actually performed that z32 swap yet. If anyone is intersted just pm me. I'm keeping my ems exhaust (except for the dp) intercooling and fuel pump, regulator, filter. I'll let the rest go for 5k. Its all put together. Drop and go. Sorry admins. I kind of wanted some feed back as well as interest on the whole thing. Didn't want to turn it into a complete classified.

  3. Yeah I know I've put less than 300 miles on my car yet, but the trannies been down, and someone's giving me their 240sx for a daily driver. I'm thinking now of selling my stroker turbo setup and going rb25det. I don't want to post it in the for sale just yet but wanted to see if there were any possible biters who don't want spend 10k building one. I'm not lacking power, but the rb25 tranny is stronger, and I hate swapping these trannies out and dont want to spend 3k on a tremek. I figure I'll keep the haltech, IC, and fuel system and sell the rest. What do u guys think?

  4. I've had too many to count as well. My latest one is putting the wrong size t/o bearing collar in and now I gotta pull the whole tranny down again. Thats not the worse though! After installing my motor and paying for the shop to wire it, I picked it up from the shop and and it cutoff 10 miles down the road stranding me. After towing it back to the shop, and having them take apart the whole fuel system, and install new fuel lines because it previously wouldn't hold pressure (they even dismantled the FPR itself to check for malfunction) they found a piece of paper towel stuck in the fuel rail that I had put in there to keep from getting it dirty while it was sitting. If you search you'll find one of my posts trying to find a solution to fuel pressure problems. Stupid stupid stupid!

  5. Quick question guys. I was wondering if there were any differences in quality when you're just dealing with Turbine housings. I saw some on ebay which from Powermaster? and some from garret (supposedly). I know you all warn not to buy turbos from ebay but are housings pretty much all the same (quality)?

  6. I just read an article in turbo a month ago that had a dude making 500hp on the srt4 stock block. One thing to consider is the tranny options to hold this type of power on a 4g63 are quite expensive, but then again they are on any manual of this kind. Lots of 500-700hp 4g63's have been built. Roadrace engineering is a great place to get a motor done. They have a great reputation with dsm's.

  7. I'm not very knowledgeable on tuning stand-alones and what not. But I do know that to get the most out of them, you must tune on a dyno. I'm just curious why the tuning process could not be broken down into some kind of mathematical formula that eliminates the need for a dyno. For instance if you were to get a perfect tune on a stock l28et, and you upraded the injectors, turbo, fuel rail ect., couldn't the amount of fuel, air volume and timing be factored in to some sort of equation that takes turbo, injector, cam, and engine size into account and programmed into your ems accordingly? I'm not a physicist or anything but it seems like it would make sense that you could come to a near perfect tune that way. Am I way off in my thinking?

  8. I do have goals, but when your trying to make it in certain industries (television for me) it takes a lot of time and a lot of working for very little money before you get going. BTW, I did live on my own for a while but when you owe 30k in student loans, sometimes its a good idea to live at home instead of paying rent. Yeah my car isn't the best investment, but you can Imagine how fun of a childhood I had finishing school that early and I'm just trying to do a few things I want to do before I'm old and wishing I had any fun in my youth. BTW, the average age for college grads moving out of their parent's home is 27 now. A degree will not guaruntee you a good job right out the door. It takes some time for a few people.

  9. Well bro, its funny I'm in the same boat as you. I just got a verbal lashing from my mother this morning on the same topic. I had a 57 gmc project that I bought when I was 15. My mom told me to go to college and when I graduated she'd help me with the money to finish it. I graduated with a BA at the age of 19 and a year later my mother forced me to sell the truck. Since I had the z, I figured the only redemption was to put the money into it and go turbo. 10k+ and over a year later later, my car is not driveable, for what always seems to be very stupid reasons. Mostly cause I'm such a bad mechanic. I thought life was going to improve financially after college and i'm sure it will but it hasn't yet. I've just put too much money and time into my car to sell it now, and I haven't even put 300 miles on the rebuild. Hey i'm 22 though, and the only support I get from my folks is a place to stay without rent. If they were paying for a car for me or anything else it would be different. You have to listen to your parents if they're your lifeline (car payment). Mine aren't, and I'll be darned if I let any girlfriend tell me to sell my car. You could probably save the extra cash not having her anyway.

  10. Well i did some research over at KA-t.org and it would seem like 400 is about the limit for the input shaft . . . although there have been a few guys that are making more and the tranny is holding . . . Anyways I was tired of the T5 and couldnt find a replacement and since there are 4 240sx's in the junkyard right now . . .and i can get a 5-speed for $40 . . . seemed like a no-brainer.

I was thinking along the same lines at first also, but when you think of it, the sr20's/KA's put out significantly less torque at those hp levels. That is what i'm concerned about. Since they are snapping trannies at 400hp my guess is your's will snap much sooner behind the L6. But since its already in there, I'm curious to see just how long it holds. If it lasts 4-6 months then I suppose its worth it if the trannies can be had that cheap.

  11. You mentioned that you you're using the 240sx tranny. I'm curious to see how well it will hold up to the kind of torque you are going to be putting out. If it handles ok, I'd like to do the same swap, but my guess is there's no way its going to hold up to 450+lbs of torque. I just decided for myself that i'd drive like a granny ti'll I can afford to do a tremec setup like Jeff P's. These zx trannies are getting too old, and I suck at swapping them anyway. Glad to see you're trying before me though. Please keep us posted on the results. I'm sure you will.

  12. Why don't I give you the cell phone number to the guy that stole mine. Supposedly he didn't really need it after all maybe he'll sell it to you, then you can tell what address it gets sent from. :-( Actually theres a dude on zcar.com that usually has some if you look in the classifieds there. Mr zandzx parts probably has one and lives nearby you.
