Well, second day driving the car after getting the turbo repaired. I popped the hood on the way back from work and noticed that the return hose was melted and dripping oil. I'm praying to God that the motor wasn't damaged or nothing. Oil pressure never dropped. I think these guys put something cheap on that wasn't heat resistant.
Anyway, where could I get a strong material to use? What do you guys use?

I wasn't actually challenging the statement, just didn't know if it was true or not. A 300hp turbo motor didn't seem all that stressful of a job to me.
I'm curious as to the budget the thread starter is working with for the project. Its the first thing that always crosses my mine since I'm usually broke. Heck, looking back, I should've gotten an LS6 motor, though I'm addicted to the sound of turbo spool now.
-
The supercharged and turbo cars always tend to heat up after 20 minutes at 6000rpm unless they are full blown race cars. That is why I drive the Z06
I'm curious as to the validity of this statement. That being said, I didn't realize you could get a Z06 motor for this price. However, that 406 is not RWHP, its flywheel (or crank) which is about 325-330rwhp ( I calculated 20% drivetrain loss)? I mean an L28et can do that in it's sleep for 6k, though probably not an RB because of the swap and motor cost. Of course this is off subject seeing as he never mentioned forced induction or L motor option.
I would def. go with a 302 over a rb25de though. As AKWIKZ stated, you'd have a job getting the rb25de to 300hp.

Which brand hood are you using?
-
Sweet! BTW you can run the dos program with e6x as an option, but I may be wrong. That said you could probably get an old windows lap top for cheap as well.

THat S*** is raw man! I think some smoked headlight covers would look wicked. Congrats! You are a true master of your art. Great shots too!

I'll cut you a good deal on it Davy It has pretty decent get up and go but could def use a V8. Looks like I'll just take and and put it up for sale while I drive it. I actually like the car though. Just don't want a hassle on my hands. Hopefully it treats me well.
-
Yeah I'm def. going to sell it. I've yet to pick it up yet, and I'm still trying to decide if I'll take it. It seems like the car may be difficult to sell since its so rare. I don't want to be stuck with it. How hard do you think it would be to turn it over?
-
Yes they are. The car is built on the platform of an opel senator. Actually I rather have cash. I'll most likely sell the car, as I really need something like a honda, nissan, toyota etc. I don't want to end up with another money pit. Not sure how hard it would be to sell it though. Def would make a cool hybrid. I'm thinking sr20 with a t66 LOL!
-
Its actually got a straight 6 3.0 or 3.9 from GM or opel.
-
Yeah I had to get a second car to get around in anyway. I'll get a compression test done on the car and if everything checks out good i'll keep it. Just don't want another "project". I drove it for 2 months though and it drives smooth. So its gonna be a daily driver for sure.
-
Well, after working for 2 months and not getting paid, I told my boss that I had to go back to the IE and work until things got going at the studio again.
So, today I get a call from him, and he tells me that since he couldnt afford to pay me right now, he'd like to know if I would take his car in exchange for money. I figured I could use a second car since my z is temperamental, and the fumes make me not want to drive it everyday anyway. So I'm picking it up in a few weeks. Its a 1985 BitterSC coupe. Only about 250 of them in the US. I'll shoot some pics of mine but here are some examples.

Mine is red like the second link. WHat do you guys think? Keeper? or sell it and get another beater?
-
The thread is in the 6 cylinder section if you want to post there. I guess it should've been here though.

Well made for a fun discussion anyway. Mike, you're a smart guy, we're sure you're going to do just fine Yes finish that blue z first!

Well went down to the tranny shop to bash some heads in (not really) and it turns out that they replaced the bearing and shaft in the turbo. Only got to drive it a few blocks, but not enough to boost it really. Not getting that noise. I am hearing a slight tink in first but it doesn't sound the same as before, and just may be car noises and paranoia. Only time will tell. As for now, I'm just happy I don't have to take them to court over it.
Mom is bugging me to sell the car while its running as she predicts that the car will never run good for long. I just can't do it though. I'm in too deep. I'm going to baby this thing and try to find a beater in the meantime. Hopefully it runs with no problems t'ill I can afford one. Just gotta get the soft brake problem handled and the left headlight fixed, and I should be good.

Anyone in Corona that I may be able to carpool with?
-
Wow, that was brilliant michael. Coming from someone who is not good with handling tools nor ladies, I still don't have a desire to settle down with anyone permanently for a few reasons.
First, I'm 22, not net advanced in my career, and feel like a serious relationship would either slow me down or cause me to have to settle for a grind that pays on time, but not partcularly what I've dreamt to do with my life.
Biggest reason though, is that...lets face it...50% of marriages end in divorce, and many others stay together unhappily. I figure if I marry the wrong person at 28-30, I'll feel like at least the better part of my life was not wasted being unhappy, which will result in less resentment towards her.
Just my .02 Don't rush into anything, and think with the head up top, while factoring in what senses may be loss due to Zcar carbon monoxyde poisoning.

Welcome. I think "moral" is spelled incorrectly in your sig. I believe the correct spelling is "moral"
Sounds like a cool project. Be sure to take pics.

Very cool. How much power are you planning to make? And AEM is a piggyback. As far as I know, they don't have a full standalone unit do they?
-
Well I told the story in an earlier post how the tranny shop pinched the oil line between the tranny and the block.
So I just talked to them today, and they said that the bearing was bad in the turbo, but the turbo shop (or whoever they took it to) told them it had nothing to do with them choking it for oil, although the turbo worked just fine before they did this.
Whats my next step of action?
-
Hey, I'm in Corona, about 15 min. away. Not much to do out here other than Ontario Mills mall which is where dave n buster's is at. Also, MSA isn't too far from you (bout 30 minutes) if you need parts. I say lets have a get together. Unfortunately my z is being repaired after the tranny shop ruined my turbo.
Hey I wanna see that RBZ in riverside BTW.
-
Funny those things never get me. I had my hand on the speakers and quickly turned them down. Stick to RB videos Stony
-
What does a Z32 tranny go for at the JY? Whatever it is its gotta be cheaper than doing a G-force T5. If this turns out well, i'tll make me less regretful that I didn't go rb25 as the tranny gives it a big advantage over a 400hp L.

LOL! Oh man. Thats a close one. If you weren't married you could've told the chick "it was the only I could get your attention!"
