  1. It's in my build thread... That said, there's about 4 inches of rear sheetmetal GONE from the fender in the rear, and I'm now using a combo of the Zforce Carbon flares and 400# springs. They fit very well though... Basically I trimmed and welded all the metal around the "inner fender all the way to the horizontal flat sectiona t the top of the inner fender sheet metal. Took me about 6 hours start to finish! Here is a pic or two of just how much cutting went on... Mike
  2. Ooohhh Wheel show... I'll play! They're CCWs in 18X10 (19 pounds) and 18X11.5 (20.5 pounds). LM20 Series. Enjoy! Mike
  3. Took this one this morning before my motorcycle ride...
  4. Got a couple more things done on the punch list... Cable pull for rear hatch... Battery swap from the beast to the little thin one... Tonight I moved the Zcar into the garage attached to our house, since I'll be working on the M3 again this coming weekend. Took a couple shots of the rear hatch cleaned up with body plugs inplace from where the wing was... Rear end from ground-ish level... Mike
  5. My setup improved massively by increasing springrates. I'm running the 8610s with GC sleeves and GC Camber plates, along with my own design control arms up front, with AZcar upper camber plates and lower control arms in the rear. Believe the springs on the front are 500 and I'm running 400s on the rear. My car handles way better now. Mind you, I've only had it to two tracks so far, but driving it around on the street the car is so much more planted and stable. Knowing what I know now, I'd never start off with such a light spring front or rear... I actually ended up selling all my lighter springs to another member because I know they just wouldn't be sufficient on a roadcourse. Mark Icard and others steered me right on this.
  6. If you're seriously going to track the car, I'd not consider Tokico Illuminas if you're running anything above a 250# spring. They're not valved to handle it... Also, did you check that thread link John C. posted for you? Take it from someone who has been through 22 Datsun Zcars over the last 2.5 decades. Don't go on what you can afford. Go with the right setup the first time. It may be more expensive, but will save you time in the long run, and money for the additional parts to make it right... Having upgraded way to many parts over the years due to not sticking with a game plan, I can tell you if I had the last 10 years back, I'd have done what I'm telling you to do now...
  7. I failed to mention that I took the car out for a quick and spirited run up the street and back... This thing goes like stink and sticks like Velcro... I'm really excited to get it to the track soonest!! Mike
  8. Got another bit of "stuff" worked out on the Zcar tonight. Fixed the charging system on the Zcar. I had to replace the existing bad alternator and remove the Painless Alternator Solenoid. Really happy resolving this issue. Sidelined for the next few days doing a clutch swap on the M3. Mike
  9. I used them with my tow straps in my car trailer... One hook actually bent but didn't do anything to the sheetmetal... Seem fine to me... YMMV! Mike
  10. I was off on Friday, But didn't get much done because of this: Got past the "break-in" miles and was able to actually go out for a fast ride on the new motorcycle with a few competent riders... Wow am I glad I traded the old man rig in for this thing... and this: Hailey! Hailey with my future daughter inlaw... Had an ealry Birthday dinner for my kid's fiance, which meant I got to play grampa for a couple of hours... Amazing how much children complete the picture for our lives. Spent 4 hours yesterday cleaning the shop up. It probably hadn't been completely "Cleaned" for about 90 days. With the foot traffic and project work that's been going on, that is a long time, especially with the level of cutting/grinding/drilling/welding of "stuff" that has gone on since early January. Also managed to pull the alternator, wire in the data logger power, and find the latch parts for the rear hatch. I'll continue on knocking my short list down over the next couple days... Fortunatly I bought the alternator at an Autozone in Horseheads, NY. when we were at Watkins Glen last year. Getting it covered under warranty shouldn't be a problem. Also got the replacement right front tire in... Idiot at the tire shop trashed a nearly new tire on the bead. Goes to show not just anyone can use a tire machine... Mike
  11. Huge numbers... And how the hell did you get that thing sooooo light? WOW... Mine is a pig. We're still above 2600 even with all the work done to lighten it with component swaps... I need to get mine on a generous dyno for some mega numbers... Congrats! Mike
  12. So the list is smaller still... I have gauges working properly again. I need to resolve the rear hatch latch mechanism, and I need to find out why this car eats alternators... Need to buy yet another one. Also need to install a stronger throttle spring on the T-body. Also need to provide power to the wiper motor... Somehow I list that... Need to do a new alignment to the car as a number of things have obviously changed since pulling caster out of the front to clear the bodywork. And I need to re-install the fuel cell surround/closeout panel. Getting there! Mike
  13. After months and months and months and... OK enough...
  14. I checked them with my motiv/adapter fittings I had previously used in pressurizing my turbos on the Porsche... They seemed to seal up well. If there's an issue, I'll swap them out... I wrote down the info you provided in your other thread, and will swap them if they don't function well... 10 minute fix. Mike
  15. Actually I could, since it is tagged as an antique! I do drive it on the street once in a while... mike
  16. Finished up the fenders on the Datsun this afternoon. I also removed the alternator and clocked it so the connections are up top for it, and I resolved the plumbing for the airbox on the throttle body. I still have a small handful of things left. Probably get some beauty pics in the next 3 days. Mike
  17. Making great progress this afternoon!! Should get the passenger side done tomorrow afternoon. Mike
  18. Finished up our crank evacuation system today... I'll use a 90 degree elbow for the Allstar canister. Pick it up tomorrow at the hardware store! I expect the rest of the items on the list to get wrapped up quickly... Mike
  19. Don't have pics up yet, but wanted to chime in and thank John Hines for this thread... It actually forced me to look hard at how I was venting my crankcase. We took an existing piece we were using by ALSTAR and made it into our crank vent tank. We used two ports on the unit, creating the second one with a large washer and fitting, and adhering it to the tank with JBweld. I bought the moroso crank evac kit from a local speed shop, and some heater hose kits from the hardware store... I think total, including the Ts, I have maybe $100 in everything. I'll post pics in my build thread later... Welded in the tubes yesterday and today I'll re-wrap the pipes with my header wrap and re-install everything! Mike
  20. I've always thought a well built SR20 turbo in a stripped down light weight early 240 with a minimal cage would be the perfect DE/Time trial car. Looks good. Mike
  21. Very productive couple hours in the shop. I managed to acquire the parts and install the crank ventilation kit in the top of the engine, JB Weld the appropriate fitting into the top of my AllStar crank vent can to turn it into a sealed unit. and dropped the exhaust to install the tubes for the evacutation portion. I am ready to bolt it all back up in place, but will wait until tomorrow to finish that up. Also replumbed my fuel cell vent valve. While I was at it, I removed the front flares to take a peak. I'm absolutely going to have to cut the front fenders and reposition the flares. The fencers only have about 2.5 inches clearance before they contact the top of the tire. So I'll tackle that in the coming couple days. Still need to figure out what I disconnected when I removed the old wiring from the fuel pumps/MSD. In doing so I list all fuction for the electric side of the gauges but not the lights... Go figure. I don't have any power to the fuse in the panel either. So between re-installing the exhaust system, sorting the gauge wiring and cutting the fenders for more clearance, I'm really closer than I had thought... Two other things I will need to do, wire the two spare toggles on my panel for data logging on/off and traction control on/off! After that, it's on to finishing up the closeout panels for the rear cell area and fixing the rear hatch latch, since I won't be using hatch pins... Getting there... Mike
  22. Glad you can laugh at those times... I've had so many of them over the last ten years, it's become that albatross around my neck! Hoping to be at the track in April and it's actually looking like it'll happen with each passing day. Mike
