  1. Yellow wanted 700 bucks to move it which was insaine. I fond one place that said they'd do it for 280 and another that said 4-500.
  2. I'm buying Owens engine setup and I'm trying to get it shipped to the Minneapolis / St. Paul area. Shipping seems like its insainly expensive at most places, if any of you guys have a hookup or recommend a company please let us know. Thanks for any help
  3. Figure I'd help anyone out whos thinking about buying a kit right now. I've called 3 places today 1. Kirk Racing Products - GREAT Customer service some of the best phone service I've ever experianced. When asking about cages they build a standard 6point cages all prenotched no cutting and messing around needed for $610 they can build larger cage to meet your needs and seemed very knowlegeable. 2. Art Morrison - Good customer service, Cost for their 10/"12" point cage was $295 for the Mild Steel and $590 For 4130. I dont know a ton about their quality but it looks like they make a good product. 3. S&W - Standard salespeople nothing special but not bad. 14 Point cage kit $370 and the 12 Point cage for $295
  4. Sorry if this is a dumb question but does the exhaust on sidepipped cars ever cause premature tire wear on the rears? Seems like they'd get lots of heat in their direction.
  5. Jesus, wont that thing take forever to spool? Its ment for damned SEMIS!
  6. I hate to resurect such an old thread but this was one of the better cage discussions I've seen. I'm looking at getting a 12 point cage right now and I'm wondering if anyone can first hand testify on the quality of the Jegs setup or the Art Morrison one? There are a few ripples in my roof right now but the body is straight as it sits, these early signs of twist sent me to get the subframes put in asap and I need some input on these cages.
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7968846650&category=33631 What do you guys think about that?
  8. I've been looking at both of these as options right now. I did a search of Turboing the SBC and I cant find anything on people doing this with a stock bottom end. I'm not one to drive my cars lightly so the thought of TTing my stock cast 350 scares me a bit. Seeing the GNX Z on these forums running a 10.08 on a stock motor makes me think this might be a good choice. My 240z already has the JTR swap done on it, I'm wondering how much more work would be involved with installing the GNX motor. Matt73GNZ I'm looking at you on this one . I've got roughly a 5k to work with not including how much I could sell my 350 motor and transmission for. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  9. I'm looking to find a forged shortblock or rotating assembly for a decent price. Looking into doing a TT or single turbo setup. My friends a big mustang guy and he uses the corral for his buying and selling of parts. Is there anything similar to this for SBC engines at all? If you just know where I might be able to find a good deal on a forged shortblock please post here too. Thanks.
  10. Yeah, I dont know anything about it really. I thought I heard that the engine was pulled out of a truck. I'm wondering if the lack of information in the crane cam site caused it to come up with this specific one. If you can recommend something that would be awsome, I'm not quite sure what the converter idles at I think its around 2000 2500. I'll know better this weekend. His website mentions "and looking into GM Performance's HOT cam for the ZZ3 + 4 motors and new springs." If I can get a decent performance increse without getting new springs I'd go that route but if springs are a must to get any worthwile performance I'll wait a bit and get them. http://web.archive.org/web/20021211161354/nitrophotos.com/240z.html Thats all the info I could get on the car. THanks again for your help.
  11. Heres a list of what he bought for the car, this is as much as I know so I hope this helps. New 2000 5.7L Vortec $1500.00 (block#10243880 head 12558062) Here is some info on the heads: Cast iron, The eight-bolt intake bolt pattern is totally different than the early model V8 12-bolt design. 2.02" intake and 1.60" exhaust. This head with the big valves flow better then the Phase 2 bowtie heads.Chamber volumes are 64cc and intake port volumes are 170cc. The Vortec heads have raised intake ports and "fast burn" chambers. The heads require the use of narrow body"self-aligning" rocker arms and center bolt valve covers. They will bolt to any Gen.1 block. The correct Vortec intake manifold bolts are found under PN-12550027. Use Vortec intake gasket PN-12529094. Edelbrock has aluminum two and four barrel "Vortec" style intakes that have the correct bolt hole positions. 12. I just used Cranes online cam site, I dont know much about my engine besides its a year 2000 vortec block #10243880 and a the head # 12558062. I put in the info I knew and they just recently sent me a reply saying I should buy this cam Part Number: 109831 Grind Number: HR-284-2S-12 IG Does this sound about right to anyone, what kind of gains did you see with your engine if you did get this setup? Thanks for any help.
  13. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I just got an R200 from an 88 non SS turbo Z and I have an extra full rear end from a 86 turbo Z that I plan on using the shafts from. 1. Do I need those adaptors or since I'm using all 300zx parts will I be good? 2. Can I still use the rear disk conversion thats been done on my 240z? I looked for direct answers in the search but I was unable to find it.
  14. Geesh, Well I planed on new heads down the line anyways. I'm just looking now though. I currently have a Vortec 350 SBC I dont know if thats enough information or not but I'll look at those links. Thanks.
  15. I'm looking into getting some aluminum heads to lighten up the ride a bit and these dont seem to be priced that bad. http://froogle.google.com/froogle?price1=600&price2=700&btnP=Go&q=Dart+heads&price=between My question is how much better are these comparied to my stock vortec heads that I have in there now? Whats the difference between all the ones listed there, they're different part numbers but besides that I cant find them. Do these heads benifit much from being ported? How much more of an agressive cam can I put into it? What gains can I expect? Thanks for any help.
  16. Do need the original shafts from the CLSD R200 or do I use different ones. I had always thought I had to get 280z Turbo ones or I could use my 240z ones. The CLSD i got was from an 88 Turbo NON SS.
  17. I thought you needed different axles when putting it into a 240z. If not I'll get those too.
  18. HOLY CRAP $611.00 I was watching this for a while and was going to snipe in at 560.00 thankfully before that I called around and found one for $325 shipped to my door .
  19. I have kc6wfs's(Dave Booth's) old hybridz and I'm not sure what mounts he used but even with out the airgap intake I cant close the hood. I have a large K&N Intake sitting ontop of the carb though, are you guys using lower profile ones or what?
  20. I'll try to take some tomorrow. I'm really sick today so I'm trying to move as little as possible.
  21. I just received my new hood in the mail. I ordered it from John Washington over at Reaction Research and hes been awsome to work with.
  22. I went to John to get a cowled hood and hes been nothing short of fantastic to talk to. He was really good about getting it shipped to Minnesota, no one else would. If I buy any more car body parts they're going to be from him.
  23. Sorry if this question is dumb.. but is that for a FWD?
