  2. i dont care whats was said about the car. i love it! i would like to see the rb in a late 60's vette. go ahead bash me!
  3. i love em mike! i was wondering what the heck they were but theyre pretty cool! the car is looking great. keep up the progress and definately keep up with those pics. your car is a great inspiration to me and am sure to other members. way to stick with the goals and not getting into the ''while im at it'' syndrome! just kidding. get that sucker running and go show it to the world already!!! juan

  5. well i just found out that the z i got has a scarb bell housing. with the 4 speed tranny. anyone know how much its worth? was thinking of selling it later down the road to help fund a future t56 swap.sorry if i upset some purists.
  6. sweet write up mike. sounds like u just aged like 10 years overnight!j/k but i have to agree with what u said especially on buying the quality part even if you have to wait a little longer. i too have learned this the hard way and im always reading up on old posts and others past experiences. im sure that mike is not just targeting the newbies(he told me i should read this). there are other members that do the same and ask questions that have been discussed 3 posts below theirs.there isnt a day that im on here that i dont use the search function. i hope this helps some of you guys out so u can get out there and ENJOY THE RIDE! i sure need to. good looking out mike. juan

  8. that was going to be my next guess but autozone dont have one when i called them. if that doesnt work i will probably buy a tap and die set to find the size. i need to buy one anyways. and if anyone needs to know for future refference the big block bolt is 1/2-20 RH in. thanks for your reply JT1
  9. hi folks i installed a balancer on my blue z and when i went to bolt in the bolt that holds it in it just slipped in . i thought that i had the wrong bolt(i had it in a bag from another engine and it was labeled)so i ran up to autozone and looked thru their computer and saw that it called for only one size for the sbc. when i brought it home i notice that it was the same size as the one i had. does anyone know if gm used another sized bolt for the balancer or is this a custom machine shop fix for a stripped out crank bolt? i checked to see if they were stripped but the are not it still has nice threads but not the standard 7/16-20 RH in. i also checked on summit racing and they list two different size bolts but its just for the head(teasers). any info would be appreciated wheres grumpy?lol

  13. my boss an i are looking to get another cargo van for his a/c business(my new company truck)and we are looking to get a ne w gmc or chevy van. has anyone owned or driven a new gm cargo van? i did a quick search and learned that the v8 model(5.3) has 335 torque. and we think they look pretty good. anyone know of any anyoing bugs or defects?pros? cons? any info would be appreciated
  14. not a clue i have some questions about the engine so i'll see if i can get a hold of the ex owner
  15. hey arent you a member at malibu racing? i too have a g-body(cutlass w/sbc). i basically want to do the same thing as you do with my cars. as for the 302.if you want to use it as a daily driver why dont you just run some flatops with mild compression and a midrange cam. nothing too crazy and pump gas. i know its not a specific engine combo and its just my opinion. if its for the street keep it simple and you will be happy with it. after all its still going to be a sbc powered z. oh yeah im a member over there too .
  16. thanks that was a friend of mine i didnt have time to look at it so she bought it and didnt get what she wanted for it so she sold it to me at her price. yeah i said SHE is a gearhead.
  17. yes i did mike! and i will keep you guys posted on the progress. i got this thing CHEAP!
  18. looky what i got the night before thanksgiving!! i got a good deal on it. it came with most the parts including the gaskets. it had an edelbrock for it but i put on ,y holley. still waiting for a couple of small parts(like one polylock and 13/16 balancer bolt)i need a distributor. the engine turns over with the starter. it has a saginaw 4 speed with a hurst shifter. the engine mounts are homemade using some 'C' channel. the exhaust are full lenght headers that come really close to the slave (some sort of hydraulic conversion maybe?) has long glasspacks under ther car and the rest of the pipes routing it out in the stock location with no mufflers. i ran out of time and had to come back to orlando but im sure i can get it running with one more days work. the car sat for four years and like it said it turns over with the starter(after i primed it.) the rest of the car is in good shape and the floorboards and sparetire space is not rusty. it also came with this fiberglass hood car sat in a garage for 4 years! soo... how did i do? what u guys think? its coming to orlando soon!
