Dude, sorry to hear about that. at least you didnt get grease on your tires and lost control or something like that. In response to Zguy's ebay link...They quoted the shipping weight at 40 pounds, sounds like what you save on the initial cost you make up for in shipping. Just my .02 -

$200...Was that in what it cost you or was it a $200 maaco job? Looks pretty good dude, congrats!

So tim wanted a nude picture for best sizing...sooo...I was trying to think of something i could put her next to to give tim the most accurate size scale. The first thing that came to my mind, the Z!. To make a long story short and cut out all of the needless details, i was unsuccessfull in my efforts to drag the girlfriend out of bed, undress her, and pose her on the Z (all while she was sleeping, of course) . Does anybody else have a naked picture of their girlfriend they'd be willing to donate? Preferably, the HybridZ member who's dating Halle Berry...
-
Count me in for a shirt and a hat. Is it possible for me to get some HybridZ lingerie for the girlfriend? I've reached a new level of obsession, i'm taking it to the bedroom.

They should give the cars hands too, so they can give the finger (or a thumbs up). It's a little more obvious, and less distracting than trying to decode flashing lights and colors. AIRCRAFT?!? Would it emit warm happy colors when it's lavatory waste is being drained, or a strenuous red?

Oooooh! Shiny! Very impressive. Check your PM.

That's a pretty wicked cam on there, almost as lumpy as my protein shake this morning...What does the rest of your engine/tranny buildup look like? Is that a street driven car? I'll keep the headgasket suggestion in mind. I'm assuming that i can have regular rods clearanced for the cam and that i dont have to have special made rods, right? Is this recommended?
-
Did you build your engine yourself? Can i compensate for the lower deck by adding a thicker headgasket, or is this counterproductive / a step backwards? Please forgive me if i seem ignorant on the subject...this is my first engine build, so i need all the help i can get. I've done numerous engine swaps, but never done anything too mechanical beyond head swaps. I've considered the rod to cam clearance...What size cam are you running?

I'm aware of the differences in my piston choices. I found a set of 6" rods cheap, so i think i'll go ahead and buy those and use the 2nd set of pistons. I'm waiting for a e-mail back from the guy i bought it from, but in the meantime i'm pretty sure its 9.010. This means my compression will be a little bit higher, given the pistons have a crank to deck height of 9.025, right? By the way, i really appreciate your help. Where in CA are you?
-
Their hybrid cars are screaming So fast your eyeballs will be bleeding Turbo imports they be beating The Hybrid Z Family da da da dum *snap snap*
-
The block has been decked to 0.010" clearance - so what does that make my deck height? I alo found these pistons 2 minutes ago, that seem to be better suited to my needs. What exactly is the crank-to-deck clearance? SPECIFICATIONS Bore: 4.125 Rod Length: 6 Pin Diameter: 0.9272 Stroke: 3.75 Comp. Ht: 1.133 Sizes: .030 .040 .060 Crank-to-Deck Clearance: 9.025 Weight: Piston / Pin: 448 / 132
-
Maybe this will help...This is what the piston description says: Compression Ratio: 10.33:1 w/350 crank, 5.7'' rods, 64cc head 9.15:1 w/350 crank, 5.7'' rods, 76cc head Flat top piston with 2 valve reliefs and pressed pin. Yields 378 c.i.d. Piston Size 0.060 How does the compression ratio for the given rod and head volume change when i use the standard 400 crank with a 3.75 stroke, in my 400 block.
-
Just a regular ol' 3.75 stroke crank, i'd like between 10-11:1 compression, and heads are yet to be determined, they will come after the bottom end. Rods will come after pistons, so all of my options are open. The pistons seem to be the hardest thing for me to come by...
-
I found these http://shop.store.yahoo.com/hm-performance/l2467f60.html , but the compression ratio they give is only for the 350 crank in a 400 block using 5.7 rods...so how is the compression affected with the 400 crank? Any other pistons suggestions for my 60 over 400 block would be great.
-
Picked up my 400 block today. Now all i need is everything that goes inside it and on top of it, a tranny, and a rear end and i'll be ready to roll!! I'm going to try to keep my budget to about $800-1100 a month for the project. My goal is to have about 500-550 hp and torque in the same arena coupled with a t56.Think ill be able to drive it by next summer?

I hate to even think about how much my insurance company would charge me if i had $20,000 and a "modified" Z. I might as well bend over now and prepare myself for it, it wont be too long before it comes to that point (but probably not close to 20k).
-
Datsunlover - the reason for the original idea was because it seemed much cheaper to buy and custom install the solid axle with disc brakes than it was to do the r230 swap and do aftermarket disc brakes. Also, i assumed it would give me a better wheel selection. No offense taken.

Tim - *sigh* the perils of being young ... Even with my multi-car and loyalty discounts, and "weekend driver" (less than 7k a year) rate, mine is still high. RCNSC - At 17 years old, it helps a lot to have a "good student discount" or the equivalent. One z i had back in highschool (one of 9 cars i drove senior year) had full coverage, good student discounts, and it was costing me $80 a month. If being young and having high insurance is the worst of your problems, consider yourself lucky.
-
For full coverage (comprehensive, collision, uninsured motorist, etc...) its $121 a month. I might as well get the car appraised, and go for the whole 9 yards.
-
If you get offended, don't watch this! Funny commercial.

If you pay close attention, you can actually see the cat's head drop inside the car after the sunroof closes. That's hilarious. I can only imagine the horror of finding a cat head in the passenger seat in the morning. -
Datsunlover - thanks for the tip, how much do appraisals cost these days? Is there any cheap way to increase the value of the car, just for appraisal purposes? Bolt ons, etc...?
-
Somebody on this forum MUST have their car insured...

Mike Kz, Thanks for the e-mail and the post, your writeup was almost exactly what i've been looking for. Grumpyvette - thanks for your input. I've always been a little biased towards chevy, that was the main reason for the 12 bolt interest. I dont plan on pushing anything close to 700 hp, however i'll do a bit more research on the ford 9 inch and the ease of install before i go ahead and make my final decision.

Alright, I've owned 6 z's before, but they weren't daily drivers, and i had to sell them due to financial obligations, girlfriends who refused to ride in the cars, or neighbors who kept calling the city to tow my cars. Anyhow, i just picked up another z to replace my daily driver. I got an awesome deal of $1000 for the car. Anyhow, my question is: is it worth getting comprehensive and collision (both with $500 deductibles) for a car that only cost me $1000 but eventually will have much more into it? What do you guys suggest? Thanks for the input. -rustrocket
