  1. Can you be a little more specific on those tires? I'm wondering if it's even worth buying tires for those original wheels on the car, or if i should buy some new wheels while i'm at it. the notorious "while i'm at it" syndrome is creeping up on me guys... -rustrocket
  2. In high school, we would steal trays and then stand or sit on them while holding onto a rope that was tied to a car. It was stupid fun, and your butt would get hot really quick if you were sitting down. good times though.
  3. Is it me or does the link not work?
  4. just a couple pictures, for those interested: <br/><br/> So, for losing it at 65, i think i came out alright.
  5. The "gold tooth" package...i like it...need rims to match though.
  6. It's not as bad as it sounds...It was a little wet out, and i was going up highway 17 (for all you bay area people) in my 73 240z. came round a corner onto a a straight and somehow my front tires lost traction and i got into a wicked fishtail while trying to correct it...i ended up doing a complete 360 and was stopped as my rear bumper met the center divider. The right corner of the rear valence (by the rear corner of the gas tank) got smashed in too...i have no clue how this happened. The worst part of it for me was that i wasn't racing, speeding, or trying to do anything dumb....so i couldnt blame it on me being a dumb@ss. Oh well...guess i'll be doing some body repair soon. Maybe i should look at some new tires too, i dont know how old mine are...but they're stock width and no name.
  7. Awesome video... Makes me want to build one of those cars (and learn to drive it like that).
  8. Has anybody had any experience with the strut braces (front or rear) from pdk fab? They looks as though they stop flex in most directions, but i want some input before i opt for these over something else. Thanks Pictures of what i'm talkin about:
  9. I havent seen this video, but it sounds like a one i saw a couple years ago on the news...some kids trying to do a "jackass" stunt and the kid crippled his leg...is that the one?
  10. I just got a reply to an e-mail i sent the guy. The cost of machine work is $225, turn around time is 1 day, ready to install. You supply bell housing and tranny. Hope this helps... -Rustrocket
  11. I was offered a l28et block with everything but the turbo and intake manifold (minus ecu as well) for $225. Should i go for it, or pass it up? I originally wanted to to the 1jz swap, but this seems a bit more practical and economical as i am on a limited budget. -Rustrocket
  12. Ignorance is bliss...or something like that. I am reminded of a saying that's been overused on many t-shirts and bumper stickers alike: "never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups".
  13. My white (original paint) 240z has numerous small spots, about the size of BB's. How do i stop these from getting worse? Also, i'm noticing some surface rust by the rear hatch hinge. same question applies. I'm not ready to spend the money for a new paint job, and i dont want the rust spots to get any worse this winter. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -rustrocket
  14. Where's the best (preferably economical) place to buy complete weatherstripping kits? Thanks guys. edit: for my 1973 240z
  15. Like Tim's, these are also "wheel deals". Pricing is $155 each with about 21 shipping per wheel. Unfortunately, the only come in 7 or 8" width. If you go to http://www.centerlinewheels.com/wheel_deals_detail.php?id=194&type=vehicle&data=22 , you can see those wheels, or http://www.centerlinewheels.com/wheel_deals_list.php and put in your state and car model.
  16. Got an e-mail back from centerline. The 17x8 weighs 22 lbs, and the 17x7 weight about 21 lbs. Are these too heavy? I was worried that they would look a little too much like i was tryin to pimp out the Z...baller wannabe status.
  17. What do you guys think of these wheels? They are centerline venturas, 2 piece. Not sure how heavy they are though. Has anybody had any good or bad experiences with centerline products? Thanks guys -rustrocket
  18. If i remember correctly, Speed Merchant and Mustang Ranch. both in/around santa clara.
  19. The GN guru has spoken, thanks for the input Scottie. So, my options are a hot air turbo buick engine vs. an extremely heavy and complicated turbo engine that's capable of insane horsepower OR just sit on it and save for another couple months. Decisions decisions. I also have a 1jz-gte available to me with an automatic for $1200, but there's an apparent lack of aftermarket support.
  20. It just might come to that. My room mate wants his carport back already, i dont know if i could swing 2 conversions, unless i can find a place in somebody's yard or garage to store them I think the 3.8 Turbo might be a little easier to install, and if i understand correctly, it would weigh quite a bit less than the 2jz? Keep the suggestions coming.
  21. My friend offered me a 2jz-gte front clip with an auto tranny for $1700, and then i found a 85 Turbo Regal engine/tranny combo (without turbo and ecu) with 70k miles for $900-1000 shipped to me. What do you guys suggest i do?
  22. The CTS is one of my favorite cars, as well as the new XLR. I'm sure there is a towbar for it somewhere out there. If there is, my dad can find it. He's put a towbar on his 95 caddy, 420SEL Benz, and for my mom's birthday a few years back, he got her a towbar for her Z28 Camaro. What a guy.
  23. I'm speechless. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4031923152
  24. I hope this is more of a preventative measure rather than needing it due to a recent bad experience?
