Well, you didn't mention tools for any intended purpose, so i'm going to post a picture of my favorite workout/personal training tools: The Hammers. Range in weight from ~20 - ~50 lbs. They still need to be powdercoated.

I can do this for somebody as well, i think i have about 20 more days before my paid month runs out.

fit a ls1/t56 in a 72 510?
rustrocket replied to mikeith's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
Yeah, turbo the KA. One of the guys on here posted a dyno sheet of 5xx hundred horsepower on a stock block/head. I have a SSAC top mount that'll work for that if you want to do it. -

The ka is pretty damn heavy, and a full turbo build will cost more than an sr20det. But the benefit is parts availability, cheap cost, and TORQUE. -

I tried this last year, and it's not something i would recommend. The t56 is too long, the shifter sits almost right at your hip. You will have to completely reconstruct the firewall and transmission tunnel. Even custom headers will not clear the steering box, and you will have to convert it over to rack and pinion. Even setting the engine far back, there's not enough room to mount a fan/radiator. Also, the engine /trans trally cut into the floor space, leaving not a whole lot of footroom and you will also have to move the pedal assembly over and relocate the master cylinders. Also, you will need to have a different oil pan, i was going to go dry sump. Besides that, you should be fine... -
Tube chassis design help needed.
rustrocket posted a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Hey guys. For my other spitfire ka-turbo project, i've realized that the stock chassis isn't going to hold up to what i'm going to do for it, at least not for long. The spitfire chassis is shaped like an hourglass, and very prone to twisting with lost of torque. I'd like somebody's help designing a tube chassis that will be built out of : chromoly round tubing or aluminum box tubing. Some details as follows: Keep same wheelbase As light as possible Possible conversion from spitfire double wishbone front suspension to macpherson strut/a-arm style, while increasing front track an inch or two. Incorporate mounting points for custom s14 rear end (i have this already) I dont have much money, but i can offer a couple hundred bucks right now. Maybe i could share my women with you too. I basically need something i can just show my fabricator and have him do it, because i dont have any tools or knowledge on chassis design. Any help would be great, local or far. Feel free to pm me or reply on here.' Thanks very much. Cam "rustrocket" -

Skillet : I believe it has a BOV, but it's running a hotpipe, just because it was easier. Him and my other buddy finished the swap in less than a week, with a few sleepless nights in there. What info do you want specifically? PM me, and i'll ask him for you. -Cam -

skillet - That's a nice te72! Had an 81 and an 80 that i sold to my friend. The engnine in the 80 caught on fire, so my friend swapped the engine from the 81 into it, and now has an sr20det in the '81 on wantanabe wheels. Speaking of which, here it is. In one of the pics, you can see the white '80 in front. -

That's my '78 spitfire with a 3tc and 5 speed. That's what i was looking to take the engine out of for this car. In the drive way is my '68 spitfire with a turbo KA24de, that's almost ready to run. -

DavyZ-I was thinkin about it doing the same thing. I found a company that could make me a set of single leaf fiberglass springs for the rear, which would be great with some lowering blocks and adjustable tokicos all the way around. It just might be an option. Jbk240z- I'm pretty sure you're referring to the 2rz and 3rz motor series. People have been making stupid amounts of power on those, but they're not exactly a cheap build. I'm a big fan of the 3tc, which bolts right into my car, and in racing form can produce ~700 horsepower or more. I already have one of these with machine work and a valve job, all i need to get to the 350-400 hp mark is a turbo, new rods/pistons, intercooler, and fuel injection (megasquirt?). If i can put together that whole assembly for sub $2k, i might do it. Aux - did he buy it as a parts car or is it running? Is he looking to sell it? I originally bought this car to keep for a bit and sell it for profit, but the bastard is growing on me. -
Finally got around to washing / vacuuming the beast this weekend. Make/Model 1979 Toyota Corolla Te31 2 door Coupe Miles: 138,xxx Transmission: Auto Body is pretty straight, with a couple small dings. It was painted a while ago, it looks really good until you go over it with a fine tooth comb. Only one spot of bondo, by the passenger headligh, and it's minimal. All glass and seals are good. Chrome has a good shine/reflection, but shows some wear Interior is pretty damn good, with the exception of a rip in each seat and needing new interior door handles. Let me know what you guys think...

Does anybody have any good links or resources that can help me better understand pushrod (or even pullrod) suspension systems? Any info would be greatly appreciated...i've searched already, but found nothing of any real use. Thanks -rustrocket

I look at the cost/benefit ratio. Even just for the entertainment factor alone, it's worth it. I can't even count all the days this website has helped me survive through work, let alone all the money i've saved from learning through everybody's experiences.

Hey, that looks exactly like the Beta Motorsports fiberglass hood!!

That reminds me of something my dad always used to say..."No matter how tough you think you are, you'll never be as tough as the bumper of my car!"

But don't forget...there's lies, damned lies, and statistics!

I reported it to the police, but they said that because there wasn't any damage to my car or myself, and without a plate #, they were just going to take it as information and broadcast it. It was a big black SUV with tinted windows and large flossy wheels, which for anybody who lives around here, knows that there's a LOT of cars like that in the San Jose area. It's funny that the officer didnt mention anything about checking to see who's getting a passenger window replaced.

I hardly think being cut off makes for a good excuse to try to end somebody's life...I guess i'm a little conservative...lol

Saturday night, around 10 ish, i was coming home from my sister's house after watching the UFC fight (GO MATT HUGHES!!). Anyways, i was merging from highway 87 onto 280 north. There was a little bit of traffic, and things were a little tight. Inadvertently, i cut off a driver in a big SUV. He proceeded to honk his horn and flash his headlights at me, at which point, i braked and lost about 5-7 mph (something i've never done before, and i still dont know why i did it then). This pissed him off even more, so he swerved into the left lane, and pulled up next to my window. I didn't bother looking because i just thought he was going to give me the finger or start yelling at me. The next thing i know, i see a bright flash in his car, accompanied by a loud BANG!. I look over, and see his passenger window completely shattered (yeah, he shot through his own window!) , and a gun pointing at me. I immediately pulled over to make sure my passenger was ok, but in doing so, was unable to get his license plate. Luckily, the guy missed my car entirely and didnt hurt either of us. Either way, i'm never braking in front of somebody again!

For half the price, this one looks like a much better deal, and it's got a corvette rear! http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/210646082.html

I used to have a '92 tercel that got great mileage. On a 400 mile rount trip to reno, i got 43 miles to the gallon, and i had a bare 400CI block in the trunk. What sort of gas mileage are you hoping to achieve?

I'm in the process of ordering Autometer Phantom gauges for my spitfire project, but ran into an issue with the fuel sender. When empty, the sender should be about 200 ohms. When full, it should be about 20 ohms. I couldn't find any Phantom Gauges that matched this, what do you suggest? Damn british cars...

I saw this thing yesterday and fell in love with it. Has anybody seen it before? note: not bad pics for 50% resolution on my camera phone!
