  1. Well i thought the same thing to soi tried a test at 75 mph I turned the electric fan off and drove 75-80 mph and the temp got hotter and hotter with the fan shut off . So i turned it back on kept the temp about 210-220 turned it back off while still doing 75-80 mph never stoping and it climbed 240-250 degrees .
  2. Well my tublar and aluminum controll arms Blown SBC 350 4 inch fiberglass cowl hood Plexi glass dash all automeeter gauges custom wiring harness " i built myself" my paint job is primer nothing fancy . Custom dual ram air intake " again i built myself . Jason
  3. Did a pressure check no leaks then a sniffer test to test for exhaust gasses in my rad fluid nothing ive noticed that at idle i cant get the clutch fan to pull as much air as i think it should even with a shroud on it as with the electric fan it was great at idle but no good at speed .
  4. The hood i have is a custom hood from california its all fiber glass with a 4 inch cowl induction scoop as any stock hood will not clear my engine the carb itself sits 1 inch higher then any stock hood can handle due to the supercharger i even had to make a custom cold air ram air intake for my z so i could get a air filter on it . I actually took off the inspection doors on each side of the hood and that helped me out quite a bit im guessing the hot air just gets stuck under there somehow . The rad filler neck is higher then the t stat im using a rad from jags that run and its mounted very nicely with the mounts they sold me . I do wish the engine sat lower as 2 inches of the fan sit above the radiator but i had a shroud made to make up for the slack there if i could get the engine 2 inches lower that would be nice because i cant raise the rad or it hits the hood
  5. I bought fully adjustable controll arms from Arizona z car . Aluminum in the front chrome moly tube in the rear all with hind joints if i said it rite . The controll arms in the front allow for all adjustments caster camber etc . In the rear it sets toe and camber very nice product no need for those caster camber plates anymore and the arms for the front i believe cost me about 400$ same for the rear . Go to http://www.arizonazcar.com and you can see what i have . So col overs are better ? I could do that i suppose and still keep my controll arms .
  6. Well i had a 2 row rad in there before it made the heating problem worse , the lower hose is ok its a metal flex hose the T stat is in the corect way its just like the spot in the manifold where it sits is to deep . I tried a high flow pump this just made it worse as it flowed so fast the watter didnt have time to cool off . As far as the air from the fan it has to force its way past the engine to escape under the car i actually installed 2 blower fans to help suck the heat out not sure what to do i do now if i take the hood off all problems are solved but as it may snow here anytime that isnt a option at the moment
  7. Ok i stuffed a Blown SBC in my z and with no hood can keep my z at 185 degrees when its 60 degrees outside when its 90 degrees im looking at 210 on the t stat with no hood . I run a 17 inch clutch fan with a shroud i fittied my self it cools ok at speed at idle well it gets a bit hot . Then i added a hood well on a 50 degree morning it runs 200 degrees when it hits 70 in the day time 210 is within site really quick . I got a radiator from Jags That Run best rad ive put in yet . Electric fans dont do jack for me , at idle they keep it cool but at speed they suck i had a fan that pulled 3,800 cfm and at idle nice and cool at speed it overheated really quick . The clutch fan has been the best so far ive even put exhaust fans in to suck the hot air out and still runs hot it needs to be at least 40 degrees with my hood to not go above 190 . My t stat only seals for about 3 days then it seeps past the gasket not external but internal like having no t stat ive tried 5 different brands of gaskets but still the same thing eventually the watter finds a way past like a free flowing system maybe this is part of th eproblem . Jason
  8. So i stuffed a V8 into my z for fun even though i have tokico lowering progressive rate springs and struts to match , but yet stock sway bar id like to know where and if i can get stiffer springs to make it handle better . i have fully adjustable suspension front and rear camber and all is there a good setting for camber i have . 30 neg in the front and . 50 neg in the rear to keep up with the 80 pound speaker box i have helps with off the line traction i must say . Any advice is welcome . jason
  9. Could be the tires the rims and tires are only about 2 years old 15x9 all the way around no spacers ive never hit a curb or hole thank god . Unfortunetly there are no z owners where i live or ive never seen any in Colorado springs Denver is another matter lots of z cars .No tires to borrow from to test the tire theory . The shaking only starts at 50 mph plus Doesnt shake when braking nice and smooth under 50mph .Ill try a tire balance first as i work for Mitsubishi so i have free access as a mechanic thanks for the help . Jason
  10. Looks similar to my rods but mine have not sure how to spell it heim joints with aluminum front controll arms nice job there on those rods . But i got mine from Arizona z car and theire chrome moly tube rear arms . Jason
  11. Ok ive done the alingment my self to make sure all numbers match . I have arizona z car control arms so every angle is adjustable caster camber everything .Even new wheel bearings and such . The numbers are dead on and i have all new bushings a new steering rack new rims and tires all balanced . New tokico struts and springs everything is tight yet when i hit oh 50 mph and up the steering wheel starts to shake or wobble it is annoying . I have been told by some fellow z owners this is normal and cant be fixed i dont believe that one bit . So if anyone has had this problem and fixed it let me know as ive lived with this problem for 3 years and im sick of it . Jason
  12. Ive tried PDK but my comp gives me a error message so imnot sure if i have he rite web site
  13. Anyone using a front strut bar in a V8 z . I dont have to many clearance issues as i have a supercharged 350 sbc in my 78 280z . Looking to stiffen up the front . Maybe MSA or someone else ? Jason
  14. I tried the ford tarus 2 speed fan it didnt work with my 2 row radiator from be cool . So i ordered a 1 row from JTR and used a clutch fan best set up yet . Jason Supercharged SBC 350 78 280z
  15. I use the stock fuel injection fuel pump . I ave a aeromotive fuel regulator with a fuel return line that cost me around 160$ . it works great adjust the pressure from 3-9 psi . Id recomend this regulator if you have a fuel injection fuel pump . Soon to stroke the L28 and polish and port the head and balance the crank etc etc . Jason
  16. Well people say bad things about stuff they cant fix or have never tried . So far this carb has been the greatest thing ive done to my z . Now gas mileage sux i get around 12-13 miles per gallon . But im out for power not gas mileage , emissions wise my car passes just as good as the EFI system i had but ive gained more power for less $ , i dynoed it a week ago and ive gained 13 rear wheel horses and 15 in torque . Not bad for 800$ . Now ive heard good things about the SU,s but i want my z to look different so i went the 4 bbl route and im impressed by it . jason
  17. Yes i am curently running a 4bbl nitrous plate and it works just great .

    4 BBL upgrade

    Just finished and running
  20. Well ive been reding about how to get more power out of a non turbo L6 engine . I have a 78 280z with a F54 block flat top pistons and a 77 280z head for high compresion . I did 4.11 gears lightend the car added Nitrous etc etc . I added headers ignition products it all did nothing or close to it . Now you can add bigger injectors , a stand alone fuel system etc etc but unless a custom intake manifold is built it is all a waste of money . I spent 700$ to convert to a 4 bbl carb and it is awseome , i meen the power it added is great and runs so smooth , a upgrade on my fuel injection was going to run me about 3,000$ intake and all i said to heck with it and added a carb seeing as id get the same powe results . I got pics if anyone wants to see just e mail me at send e mails to jason my e mail address is so just e mail my persona e mail address .. gretchenlee1480@msn.com And for anyone who wants to know it is a Arizona z car intake manifold and i do use a nitrous plate , but then getting a air cleaner for it is a hard thing to do as the hood clearance is about 1/2 inch ..
