No Tony it isn't that I couldn't make a shim to compensate,I just wanted to contact Silverseal first to see if they may have had a problem with more of their product, which it turns out they do . I spoke with Jeff again today and he only found one set that all measure .015 and he is sending it and 3 more sets to cover the rusted ones,I told him I could use three .020 and one .015 on 2,3,4 and 5 and 5 of the .015 on the number one tower . He said that the supplier of the steel used for these shim sets had been changed and this is why there was an issue,he also told me that the shims were actually machined by Silverseal at their plant, sort of odd they didnt catch this in Quality control procedures. I can live with .075 all the way across the board.I just wanted to let others know also of the situation with these shim sets.

I just received my shims from Silverseal today part # HSDT1001 and I am very displeased to say the least. Three of the kits were rusted pretty bad and all of them had 1 shim for the first tower that was made of a different type of steel .allmost looks like galvanized and were .015 thick and 2,3,4 and 5 were .020. I contacted Silverseal and they said they were going to find out what the deal was, and after having to call them back three times when they didn't call when they said they were going to, I was told they were looking through their remaining stock and that out of over 100 sets that all of them had the same discreprancies as mine. I was told by a guy named Jeff that he would contact me tomorrow morning to let me know if they have any at their other plant that were of the same material and thickness. I know I could use 4 of the .020 shims for 2,3,4,and 5 and use 5 of the .015 shims for the first tower but to me a .005 difference is not acceptable ,correct me if I am wrong but I am very picky when it comes to tolerances.

Called Modern Nissan in Concord N.C yesterday and was told there was one breaker plate assembly part number 22136-h9501 left in the country for $92.81 list and my wholesale price would be $74.25, and the only way to know if it was still available was to order it and wait until today to see if it went through. I got the call form the parts dept. this morning and was told to come pick it ,they even covered next day air since it was for a commercial wholesale account ,hope there are more to be found ,if not my next build for the 77 will have to get a reman. or go edis I also got my header in today.

Quote ((These parts are no longer available. But if anyone know's a source let me know. the stamp is how many degrees of mechanical advance. If the unit has 8 stamped on it, that is 8* of distributor advance, which translates to 16* of crank advance. __________________ 72 240z. 75 2.8l, 79 5spd, R200/3.90's, 280zx rear brakes, headlight relay mod, hella h4's )) Called Modern Nissan in Concord N.C yesterday and was told there was one breaker plate assembly part number 22136-h9501 left in the country for $92.81 list and my wholesale price would be $74.25, and the only way to know if it was still available was to order it and wait until today to see if it went through. yes I understand what the stamp means I have only heard people speak of the 8.5 or 9, this one is stamped 9.5 which would be 19* of crank advance .Thanks for the answer ,just curious if anyone ever saw a 9.5 plate before. And if so what did it come out of? this appears to be a standard 2.8 81 model dizzy. D6K82-G2 3X02 22100 W4800

Anyone know where to find dizzy parts for a 81 280zx ,I need the breaker plate, ball bearings and magnet that goes under the stator,I am going to call Nissan tomorrow but would like to find them elsewhere if possible . I know that cardone has a reman for about $135.00 at a$$holezone but I would rather rebuild mine . I am assuming the po had it apart as the ball bearings are missing from the upper plate which is broken and pieces missing, and this one has 9.5 stamped on the mechanical weight plate as opposed to 8.5 or 9 anyone ever saw this before? I have a 76 280z that I am in the process of building an engine for ,and I am going carbed. My question is this,Will changing from my stock dizzy to an e12-80 out of a 79 zx help me or is it worth the effort ,I have found where someone swapped this into a 77 and wondered if it would be the same to swap into a 76 . My engine has the water temp. switch and from what I have read my dizzy uses 2 pickups for timing and the water temp. switch-the one that is in the thermostat housing that has 2 wires that come straight out of the sending unit or switch with no connector, uses water temp to change from 1 pickup to the other. And from what I can find the 77 and up do not have this switch,I have allread fixed the water temp switch,p.o. tried to but it didn't work so I had to remove it and dremel away some of the base where the wires come out and solder new wires on. My main reason for doing this is better performance as well as cleaning up the engine bay and removing any wiring that is not needed. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks ,Curt:burnout:

That is exactly what I am looking for a very quick holeshot and decent topend I feel that with this tranny I can obtain a happy medium, with the happy part being takeoff and the medium being topend useage! Thanks everyone for your input. I have sent a P.M. to Braaap to see if it is allright to post in the classified I have some parts I think some of you may want at a great deal,I have been a member long enough but don't have my 40 posts yet ,So hopefully I will be allowed ,and if not I will post what I have left after I receive my 40 post mark, and thanks once again.

I had my 83 stock nissan cam ground to 274 duration which is 234 @.050 with .464 lift and 10 followers reground bought 2 matched reground to go with my 10 and had the pin repaired and it only cost $135.00 plus shipping. The reason i only had 10 was that 2 had been stolen at the local pull a part before i got there to pull the engine out, you have to keep an eye on the cars as soon as the come in if you want to get what you need, the 5 speed had been pulled and the afm but i got the engine and 3.90 r200. But I think that Delt cams prices are killer. Pull a part is pretty good also
