  9. Holy Crapola, did your dad heal up ok?... I had a few very small splashes but we always had the water running when we messed with the Soda to flush our skin. John
  10. Yes, it is a sewer pipe cleaner... I know your going to say hey that is a no brainer... Message in the orginal post is think about disposal before making a 300 pound batch that you cannot move.... John
  11. Guys a couple questions, 1. How was I going to move a 320# trash can full of this soultion? 2. Why buy an acid to nuturalize when I would still needed to pour it out. 3. Did you not read the quote above where for just a few dollars I made a fitting, and flushed my homes sewer pipes and disposed of the soultion? I call that a win win deal. Thanks, John
  12. As the title implies I needed to get rid of a 40 Gallon strong Custic Soda solution, well after much debate we opted not simply pour it out instead I have a drain cleanout under the kitched sink (exterior). I went to Home Depot and purchased several fittings that would allow me to seal the cleanout and attach a garden hose to it. I had a cheap pump from one of my old fish tanks (will be home made parts washer pump soon) I attached the garden hose to the pump, other end to the new drain fittings and presto 15 min's later my drain pipes are now root free and I have my 40 gallon trashcan back... On another note I used about 8 pounds of soda and 40 gallons of water for the solution. I soaked the gas tank, all lower control arms, and anything else I had which will be repainted before I reinstall. The moral of this story is plan your disposal before you fill your barrel!!! Hope it helps... John
  13. You might end up having to have them burnt out with a plunge EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) if so google Tool and Die shops in your area. John
  14. Good to see the mail service can still be trusted...lol... I sent a short set of instructions and if you have any more questions just let me know. Mods, if this post in not in the proper location please let me know I only chose to keep it tied to a old spindle tool thread. Thanks for the kind words, John
  15. Jerry, The straps fit fine; I had to however do some slight adjustments on the fixed end. I suggest it is better for the end user to have the ability to trim them than not. We sandblasted and sanded the old paint off, re-primed and did one coat of a black but due to the rain we have had I plan to recoat the tank several more times. As you can see the driver side strap was tight, the car has been rear ended before not major but just enough to cause a little headache. I highly recommend Jerry's Straps, the design, material, and construction details are incredible. John
  16. Here is some free advise sine we are basically doing the same type of projects. Buy tools as needed, you do not have to buy Snapon if you know it a limited use tool, buy lessor brands and save there. Find an old single oven if you have space and turn it into a powdercoat unit. small stuff from Lower control arms, to diff mounts ect can be coated and cured for a lot less. Send out the larger items you cannot do. Picture and document everything, if your doing ground up search this forum for ideas from others. Harbor Frieght and other type stores are your friend... Good Luck and keep us posted.... John
  17. Restoration is directly proportional to the thickness of your wallet. does not matter if its Houses, Cars, Boats, Planes, or Women... John
  18. Not a fresh water trout fisherman but all things saltwater!

  22. Ok his insurance cannot total it, they will however try to lowball you big time... I would have a couple shops give you estimates in advance...This way you have a good idea of cost involved. Since it is a project keep projecting! John
  23. Do not accept a check if the insurance chooses to total your car!!! The problem is the repair most likely will be greater than agreed value, when that happens they normally wish to total and turn the title into a slavage... Consult an attorney in your area before signing anything. John
  24. If the spots in the picture are all your looking at simply sand the area, clean well with a deglosser, mask then prime followed by as close to the same color as possible. Now if you had both the time and money, soda blasting it back to bare metal and starting over with an two part paint with be the ticket... Good Luck, John
