  1. How about this one :)

    Nismo.jpg

It was made locally here in NZ, I am planning to do something sim. What he did was remove the Nissan OHC make up the new alloy letters and then bond on using that $$$ alloy bonding stuff that holds BMW etc together.

So you can make whatever you want if you have the time and skills

  2. Not sure if anyone here is going to too much help as the L20et are very rare animal state side, or anywhere outside of Japan, we are lucky in NZ as we do get a lot of JDM cars imported however knowledge of these is low. Is't your car a R30 Skyline special of somekind? ie a very rare beast indeed, so this cam you have might be related to that special part of your R30. How did you make out with the head gasket issues?

  3. Sorry for slight movement off topic but....

One of the local forums I visit here in NZ had these pics - so I thought I would share. There are/were only 2 of the new Ford GT's in NZ. Hope the pics work

Edit changed images copies uploaded to album on this site :)

  4. Having seen a few DR30 with FJ20 here in NZ, I can confirm that these are a clutch type (but you know that already from above answers), and again you now know the input shafts are the CV type, I can confirm 100% that they are the tri pod type like the 280zxt setup. There are also the same in the Nissan Laurels C31 which uses the same suspension setup/running gear (however no Laurel was fitted with a FJ20) as the R30 range of the same era. ie the L20 power Skyline is the same floor plan/suspension as the L20 powered laurel, like wise the L20et power cars etc. However I think the CLSD were only fitted to the DR30 standard so when looking for a CLSD long nose in the junk yards locally you have to look at a few to find the CLSD :)

  5. I ran into the same problem when searching for them a couple years back. The flat top ones are common, but the dished ones are hard to find. Call courtesy nissan. As far as i know, the only people who still make cast dished pistons are based in australia.

Well downunder it is the other way round - I can get dish stuff but can't get flat-tops easily locally in NZ.

  6. The Laurel and R30 Skyline I got mine from were both 83-84 models, one (R30) was the optical unit like the 82 280zxt dissy (same part number infact) the other one from the laurel is still a CAS but not optical like the crank angle module I have on the L28e I purchased, it is mounted down next to the crank pully which has a toothed wheel attached. Both the pully and the Laurel dissy produce the same single (have the same plug connection, so does the R30 optical dissy, same plug that is) I have not tested the optical dissy to see if the signal is the same but from the reading I have done - I beleive it will be.

see this thread for pics of the difference between the two dissys (optical and non optical)http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=104767

  7. Nice.... I wonder how I can get one of those over here? BTW: Is that really for a twin turbo setup?

Yea TT L6 manifold - however I believe it does not work on the LHD cars - talk to 240ztt on this site he had one of these manifolds at one point but as it did not work on the LHD re was selling it (I think he sold it on ebay)

  8. Okay guys - for those interested in a Twin Turbo setup on a L6 in a S30 - looks like TRUST/GREDDY still have a listing for a SUS = Stainless Steel, twin turbo setup see the following link - then check the second listing states S30 twin turbo setup for L20~L28 has a partnumber also. And for those who want a N/A see the second link below

    Twin Turbo

    N/A Trust Header

  9. No guys not a S20. That is a TC24-B1 head on a L6 bottom end with a custom twin turbo setup. The TC24-B1 head was a custom made head by O.S.Giken of Japan. They were cast using a wood mold I believe = no long available. I believe they made two versions of the head. The first are the better ones however I heard that there were only about 3 left today. So if you want one. First you will have to find someone who wants to part with theirs (yea right) then you will need to sell your house + wife and kids to even get a look in at a purchase :)

Lovely setup non the less and I bet it must go. Here is pic of the S20 engine you will see the differences.

  10. L28 40thou+(87mm) flattops sell for approx $260 approx here in Australia +$150 for rings , but of course im really keen on 89mm ones.

Were is that from - I have having trouble finding flattops here in NZ? Is that Stewart Wilkins Motorsport in Sydney? I might have to get pistons from AUS then and go with the 87mm flattop (even 86mm or 86.5mm would be fine if the bore are good...this is usually the case. I have not seen many L6 that have a lot of ware, usually a hone is all that is needed tops not a bore) And at that price I can then spend the engine budget on the areas that need it ie more head work :)

  11. George,

The early skyline's were never imported/sold in the US. However there are a few private imports I believe. I also believe they never got the S15 Silva/200sx/240sx (depends on the market and engine size as to the name of the car :) )

To that end it is a bit like NZ were the Skylines were never officially imported/sold either however we do get a lot of JDM imports so we are lucky over there really. Skylines that I know that were sold in NZ new were the C110 (aka 240K GT) and I think that is about it all the others were private or dealer imports ie C210, R30, R31, R32, R33 and R34. I would love to know if there are any C10 in the country :) a KGC10 would be good to see in the flesh

  12. George, I purchased some RB20DE (190cc I believe) (not DET as Dad's Fairlady is L20e not L20et) injectors from Trademe for $6 and $3.50 postage. I then just had them serviced/tested/cleaned cost more than I was expecting but they are all now flowing the same etc (cost $250 F.Y.I for all the US guys that is NZD or funny money to you) this is still a lot better than new injectors (infact I did not need to do the service/clean but I did this as a matter of knowing what I have to work with)

So for you with your L20ET pick up some RB20DET or RB25DE injectors (I think these are red and should be 270cc 11mm o-ring injectors) these should be good for the L20et if you are not looking for more than 220-250hp (I would assume max for the L20et engine anyway) Then use the PAllnet 11mm o-ring rail. Remove the drop down resistors from the injector loom (this assumes you have these like most of the L28/L20 I have seen) I am sure others who have done that can add more as I have not done this yet - but will be.

Hope this is of some use

  13. Get the Peter Allnet's units. I have one already ( L28 ) and another one on order for Dad's L20e. Here is a link to his website PAllnet he uses PayPal and for the shipping to NZ when adding to your cart just add the shipping fee twice $14 x 2 = $28 USD. Are you upgrading to o-ring injectors? or sticking with the hose tail? I went o-ring 11mm for my RB injectors I picked up from Trademe (will have to modify the harness as these are high impenance injectors compared to the stock low units = mine is easy as it was a carb car = new harness anyway, Dads has drop resistors on the firewall so I just need to remove these and then he is in business :) )

    Cheers

    Mike

  14. I can't recall (who or if I read it somewhere) but I do remember someone telling me once that the L20 cam has a lot more meet and is good to use for putting a grind on to. So maybe this is what has been done to the L20 cam you have in this engine.
