  1. Nice work. Those coil packs look so much meaner than the wimpy distributor!
  2. thanks for the lesson, but this a parts wanted forum not a technical forum. We knew what he meant.......... maybe a little too much internet time on your hands. By the way BRAAP I like your Vtec link
  3. Brush. I'm not brave enough with paint yet to buy a spray gun
  4. The rear is finally painted and ready for the suspension to be reinstalled! I clean it all off with acetone followed by Metal Blast, put the first coat of Rust Bullet on, sealed every seam that the paint didn't with silicone (let it dry), and then did a final coat.
  5. "once again good information to know YESTERDAY!" -Adam sandler quote. I didn't even think of that I already dropped if off at the scrapper. Will do.
  6. I believe I have one laying around. What are you looking to pay for one?
  7. When I was using the needle gun to remove the undercoating in the wheel well, some of the seam sealer along there came off as well. Did you re-seam seal everything or just paint over it. It would seem to me that a few coats of pain should seal it up fine, and there would be no need for the seam sealer. Thoughts?
  8. If you don't find one close to you I have an AZ door off a 78 280, I believe they are the same as 75. Let me know if you want it and what price range is.
  9. As I am finishing the suspension on my 240Z I'm going to start keeping my eyes open for a triple weber set up. I've been reading old post trying to educate myself on them since I don't come from a carburetor background. When it comes to buying a used set of these what should I look for? Assuming I would rebuild any set I buy is there really anything that could be messed up with a set that I should keep my eyes open for? thanks
  10. Stripped down my old Z last weekend and took anything off that was still useful. Had to sawzall the driver frame rail off because it was pinned against the engine from the impact. Still prepping the bottom of the 240 for the Rustbullet paint. Almost ready!
  11. Nice work! I hope to convert to LEDs in the future as well. Maybe you could write up a how to when you are all finished for those of us less electical savy Z owners
  12. Picture of my first Z as it sits now Pictures of the 280zx turbo I picked up for $260! I don't think I'll go turbo because I want to do a 3.1 stroker using this block/head, but the turbo stuff is there if I decide to. For $260 I couldn't pass it up.
  13. I'm using rustbullet and a 4 oz can is supposed to do 6 square feet with two coats.
  14. My favorite part of a project is buying new tools! Removing the rear suspension and repainting it: My buddy came over to help so we did a quick Z/Charger picture: Leonidas put the Tokico struts and springs on for me: Lately I've been stripping the old undercoating off with the needle gun. It's a slow and dirty process since I don't have the car on a rotisserie.
  15. My Z has been a Vegas car it's whole life and I'm the third owner. It was sitting in a storage unit as project yet to be started when I picked it up. Most of the interior panels are in good shape, minimal rust, and of course 30 year old bushings. I bought the Z because my 1978 280Z (my first car) was hit when I was in college and the unibody was destroyed. So I've named this project The Phoenix because I will be putting the 280Z drivetrain in the 240. My 280Z drivetrain consisted of a rebuilt motor, custom cold air intake, 12lb flywheel, 280zx close ratio transmission, and 3.9 R200 rear diff. Getting it home: The original window sticker, warranty card, and manual: Cleaning out the old carpet and the only rust I can find so far:
  16. Thanks 280! Now if I understand it right the mount lowers the front of the diff for the V8 guys. To modify the mount to be used with and L series engine all I have to do is use a smaller polyurethane mount correct?
  17. I almost ready to start putting the rear suspension back in the Z, so I have been reading old post like crazy as I was considering doing a solid differential mount. Beings how I am just trying to build a killer street car my plan is to go with the R/T front mount and the AZC mustache bar. I figure this will allow the least amount of differential movement while still dampening some sound....... unlike a solid front differential mount. That being said is there a place that I can buy the R/T mount these days or do I just have to have on fabricated? I was considering just welding the stock mount solid but read that a few people had done this and ended up switching to the R/T mount anyway. Thanks and any opinions on my planned set up are welcome.
  18. You might also check out sincityz.org. Vegas has a pretty active Z club
  19. look great...I love the black hood on the orange body. What headlights are those?
  20. Interesting thoughts. So help me out here..... how is it that moisture gets caught between the Herculiner and causes rusting but not between the Rustbullet and the body? Thanks for the replies
  21. I almost have all the old undercoating stripped off my Z and am about to start applying Rustbullet. I've decided to coat it with spray on bed liner (Herculiner) rather than rubber undercoating after. My question is do I wait till the Rustbullet is totally dry to apply the Herculiner or put it on while the Rustbullet is still tacky? As usually I have searched before posting.
  22. If it did happen abruplty than I would agree that you should check the fuse
