  1. Nice work, I'm in the process of putting in new fuel hard lines also. I'm interested ti see how you mount the fuel pump.
  2. looks good! how did you do the evolution MR style fins on the roof?
  3. Thanks for the replies. Please bear with me as I'm learning all this fuel delivery stuff as I go. How do I figure our what my hase pressure will be?
  4. This week I painted the engine bay, had the BD frame rails welded on (I need to learn to weld), and applied seam sealer to the frame rails. I hope to get them covered in RustBullet tomorrow. Man I can't wait to be done with chassis prep so I can start putting in the fun stuff! At the sand blaster: (http://www.astripcenter.com/) All and all it went well but that crap gets everywhere. In retrospect I would have stripped the car completely and had him do the whole unibody at once. Bad Dog frame rails: I was very impressed with John (I believe that was his name), who sells these frame rails. We had some shipping issues and he was very helpful in getting it all straightened out. They took a little more work to get to fit on there then I though it would, and there were some gaps in the rear sections when it was all said and done. I think it is likely a result of trying to weld a new piece on a 40 year old car.
  5. I have a set of these and although I have not installed them yet the quality is top notch.
  6. While my Z has no drive train in it and has been sand blasted I want to try my luck at stiffening up the frame with some stitch welding. I've been trying to find the thread on unibody reinforcement checklist but I can only find the reference to it in another thread. Here is what I am looking for: As far as chassis reinforcements, look at posts by johnc in the brakes/suspension/chassis/wheels subforum. He has a 13-point checklist for stiffening a street/track Z, I've seen the post before but I can't find it now, could someone post a link to it please?
  7. From what I have read you always want the return at least as big (if not bigger) than the supply line because you want the return to be as close to zero pressure as possible. It also seems to me that both the engine requirements and the pump would factor into the size of the feed lines.
  8. Nice looking 300zx TT, must have been tough to see that drive away.
  9. Thanks! So in the max HP scenario: (350 x .60) / (6 X .80) = 210 / 4.8 = 43.75 lbs/hr per injector 43.75 x 10.5 = 460 cc/min per injector
  10. I have been reading about fuel set ups for a few weeks now and believe I have it figured out. That being said I was hoping some of the guru's would just confirm that I am on the right track and/or comment on any thoughts. I'm putting an L28T in my 240Z and hope for between high 200's and 350HP. Tank: Stock with a sump welded in. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CEE-4040/ All lines (AN and new hard lines) would be -6AN / 3/8. According to grumpysperformance.com that size line (both feed and return) can support up to 375 HP. Fuel Pump: Walbro 255lph with -6AN adaptors. Flows 67.3 GPH and according to my calculation 350 max HP X .17 = 63.7 GHP needed. http://www.fuel-pumps.net/500.html FPR A Return-Style regulator. I found the one in the link below but any other suggestions would be great as I haven't spent too much time reading on regulators. http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/sx-performance-15404-an-fuel-pressure-regulator-p-300.html Injectors: I found the formula below and it shows I need 338cc injectors. 350 X 0.55 = 192.5 193/6 (number of injectors) = 32.17lb injectors 32.17 X 10.5 = 338cc injectors My Questions 1) Why do the sumps have two fittings? I know the feed goes from there but does the return also? 2) Assuming the return doesn't go to the sump.... I would just weld a steel AN fitting to the gas tank in place of the original return nipple correct? 3) To attach a an AN fitting to the new hard lines I us a "sleeve" and "AN" nut correct? 4) Is my injector calculation correct and if so could you recommend common injectors people use (I admit I have not searched this yet, but everyone needs a little spoon feeding now and again ) Thanks in advance for any help!
  11. There were a few nooks and crannies I couldn't get to in the transmission tunnel with the wire wheel, so I decided to have it sand blasted....... and I figured if it is already going to the sandblaster why not do the engine bay and floorboards at the same time. So I spent friday afternoon pulling the engine and seats. Tuesday it gets sandblasted and then thursday the frame rails get welded on. Then a weekend full of painting for me!
  12. Could someone help me identify this intake? It looks like an EGR non-webbed N42 intake, but it says U78 on it. I have searched and I also know there is a sticky somewhere that compares intakes but I couldn't remember where it is. A little help would be great.
  13. Finally finished stripping the transmission tunnel, now I am just waiting on the Bad Dog frame rails I ordered on April 16th. While I'm waiting I played around with some graphic ideas....... I'm thinking 370Z pearl white on the whole car and the taped sections in a copper-ish color. I blame my playing around with the tape on watching too many old episodes of "Over Haulin" on Netflicks.
  14. Nice work. How did you attach that roof spoiler?...... adhesive tape?
  15. Pulled the hard lines out of the transmission tunnel and almost have it completely stripped. Hopefully will have it completely done about the time that my bad dog frame rails show.
  16. Great progress! I'm excited because you are quite a few steps ahead of me, so I can use your build as a guide.
  17. Took a few months break from working on the Z but I'm back at it. Almost have the transmission tunnel and floor pans totally stripped. Just ordered the Bad Dog frame rails and will be adding those to the mix before I start putting stiff back together. My plans for the next few months: Finish stripping the tunnel Get the frame rails welded on Paint the underside with RustBullet New hard fuel lines Modded 240 tank or that fancy custom aluminum gas tank I saw posted
  18. Looks great. What's the plan for the brakes?
  19. That makes sense. It might be a good project for the administrators to just switch those threads to the project section, get all that info/experience into one easy to find area.
  20. I found my donor car on craigslist
