Good info guys. One thing to note, if you are getting really serious about this, ie a race car etc. Is when the fuel is pressurised it heats up, so if you route the return line from the regulator back into the surge tank, you can end up with the fuel in the surge tank getting quite warm - which ultimatly reduces power. If you feed the return line back into the main tank, the fuel gets more of a chance to cool down before being picked up from the surge tank and put under high pressure again and therefore heated up again. On a previous turbo circuit car we were looking for every little edge so we had a fuel cooler unit built into the ice water/methanol tank that we used for the water injection etc. It was simply a coil of copper tubing which was inside the ice water tank, and the fuel heading to the fuel rail passed through the copper tube coil. For a road car it probably wouldnt really matter which way round you did it.

Hey guys, i thought you might like to see these pics of a fairly serious track car i had a good look at a couple of weekends back. Note, it has three bars from the cage to the strut towers (under the hood) and another bar under the front fender from lower front corner of cage to the front rail, with a smaller diameter verticle bar tieing the lower bar and one of the upper bars together. The diagional bars from the strut towers heading towards the centre of the firewall, actually pass thru the firewall and join the upper dash bar. In the rear It also had diagional bars going down from the bar running between the strut towers, down thru the floor, and mounting the rear of the diff. There were similar bars passing thru the floor forward of this providing the mount for the front of the diff. Also note the rear susp. The owner made a really good point, once i started asking him about this. He quoted that 'others' join both sides of the rear susp together with a cross brace, he said that for a track car that isnt smart, as when you take a biff in the rear you end up damaging both sides of the susp. makes sence. I got lots of good ideas from this car, hope the owner doesnt mind me posting these.

Oh ok, silly me Things are all good here, very warm, big difference from Welly - Its almost Aussie temp here mate, we get into the 30's often. Hey I have just heard that all the frame rail/subframe connectors/new floor pan work is all finished on my Z, so i am very happy, its been a long time happening, just gota go pick it up and bring it up here now. Looking forward to seeing the old girl again

Mike, It could be there as a type of dampner, to reduce vibrations transmiting up through the clutch hydralics to the cutch pedal, some manufactuers use a little cylindrical piece to do it instead. If this is what it is for just leave it off. Cheers, Clint.

While we are at it could i please add to the question, by also including an off the shelf turbo header for RB25 that will fit in an S30. I am using the slightly taller RB30 block, so that adds another potential clearance issue.

If you want all your listed benefits of the RB, but want heaps more torque than the RB26 or RB25, consider putting together a RB30/26 or RB30/25. Using the 3 liter RB30 block and fitting the DOHC RB26 or RB25 head. This hybrid combo produces stump pulling amounts of torque. Search for all the posts from R.I.P.S and his many videos on youtube, where he has a vid of a very mild rb30/25 powered skyline doing a massive burnout starting from 4th gear - Very impressive torque indeed!!

Careless, your comments got my back up a little. I think you will find that Rob (RIPS) wasnt attempting to be a smart a*se, but merely stating the fact that the correct pistons for the job are avaliable straight off the shelf. Looking at RIPS's joining date on Hybridz (july '07) he probably wasnt even on this forum when the original piston questions were asked. If he was aware of it, i am sure he would have chimed in and helped out then. I have always found Rob very helpful with things like this. And to follow on from Stony's original comments - If Rob offers any advice on building a performance RB30, you can rely on it being correct. Rob would have to be 'right up there' in the list of the worlds most experienced at building reliable and powerful RB30's. Forums like this can really benefit from the input of experienced people like Rob and it would be a shame to lose them because of comments like the above. Please don't take offence Careless, just thought i should make the point that this is probably the first he knew of the drawn out piston issue.

Nice one! It sounds like it will be a weapon. The first drive of a newly built car is sooo cool, i remember a few of mine very fondly Alo looking forward to the vids.

Oh, so it sounds like that one of them is a two piece split rim, the other must be three piece, cool thanks. I will have too do some homework before placing an order, cheers. Your car does sound like a cool piece of kit. -
Hanging out for an update Luke!!!

Mate, they are awesome, loving those simmons wheels! Thats what i plan on running on mine, but 17x9.5 or 10's on all four (Race car) I reckon the black centres would look sweet with my orange paint. Whats the difference between the F90's and the FR17's, they look very similar. Your car looks great, whats the rest of the specs? -
I havnt been on here much in a while, so have only just found this thread. Real nice work man - Well done. I really like all your front end chassis strengthening, pretty much exactly what i have planned for mine, but I will have my diaginal bars going back from strut towers passing right thru the firewall and pickup on the dash bar of roll cage, and also have two extra bars going straight back from strut towers on each side, one staying high back to the dash bar intersection with the front pillar cage bar, and the other heading back and down thru firewall to pickup on the lower mount of the front piller cage bar. Loving your project - Keep it up! Thanks for sharing.

Hi guys, Well finally the 240 is in the panel shop having the frame rails fully replaced. The cross member that runs accross at the very front of the frame rails is in very bad shape, we have cut it right out at this point of the job, and it is really beyond repair. My question is can i replace it with a straight piece of tube, as the stock member has a step down in it. Is this step down needed? what is its purpose? Hopefully we can replace with a straight tube, as this will be so much easier. Note: my car is a race car, that will be far from stock, so will not be using the stock radiator or anything.
