  1. Sack Face, are you planning on changing the camshafts for a more radical profile?
  2. At the 2004 Z Car convention in NH, I spoke to great lenghts to Steve Millen and the engineer who worked, I forget his name, on the 350Z car on this topic. The general conclusion was that the Z33 box was only good fior the "stock" power of the Z33.
  3. I will be at the point of trying to start the engine in the car soon. Some time ago I bought what was supposed to be a complete 92 Q45 factory shop manual. After I got it I realized that it was missing the engine chapters and the last pages which have the electrical pull outs! Isn't Ebay great! I have since downloaded the manual for a 94 Q45. Does anyone know how different the wiring would be on for these 2 years? How accurate would the 94 wiring diagram be if used on a 92 Q45?
  4. Has anybody on this list used an electric water pump on thier project car? I am considering it for my 450Z conversion, but am unsure on thier reliability on a daily driven car. This option would make my life alot easier as the VH45DE engine runs the power steering and water pump on the same belt. Since I am going to an electric power steering system I would have to custom fabricate a belt tensioner for the water pump alone. More work! Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking at: 1) The Meziere system http://www.meziere.com/index.php?pgName=wp336 which are sold through Summit racing; 2) The Davies Craig system http://www.daviescraig.com.au/main/display.asp?pid=8 sold through Pegasus Racing 3) The CSR system http://www.csr-performance.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=SC&Category_Code=WP1
  5. I have tried to figure out what lenght of spring I should use for my coil over conversion. On my last 240Z project I used the long (12") AFCO springs vs the 10". Now I find myself with much shorter set of springs (6") with the correct rate and cannot see a problem with using them (as long as they do not coil bind at full bump). Packaging wise the 6" spring would work very well. I have looked through several suspension books and websites but there does not seem to be a rule of thumb when selecting spring lengths. What would be a good guide? Any sites that would enlighten me? Thanks.
  6. Do you know if they are all front sump type oil pans? Or are some of them rear sumps?
  7. Does anybody on this list live in Au, Nz or Japan? I'm curious to know if the VH45DE engine was ofered in any vehicles other then the Q45? In other words are there any other oil pan/pickup configurations available for this engine? Just looking...............
  8. Here are what a set of those Centerline wheels (15" x 8" with 225/50-15 RA1) look like on a lowered 240Z. Thanks Jon for the help. P.S. this is the best site, bar none, for any die hard Z owner!! http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/jeffsonlawn1small.jpg
  9. A freind of mine got a set of these for his 240Z last summer. His were only 15"x8" with 225 tires. Fit great and looked great as well. As soon as I can figure out how to post a pic on this thread I can show you what it looks like on a 240Z. Hints?
  10. I agree nice workmanship.
  11. The mounting pattern is different for the Z32 and 350Z which are both different again from the VH45DE. At last yrs Z car Convention in NH I spoke to Steve Millen about adapting the 350Z 6 spd to a Z32, and he didn't have an answer. So we both went to see the Nissan engineer who was head of the powertrain for the 350Z. He told us that the patterns were different and also had some concernes that it would not tolerate the power of a stage III Z32 engine. So it was designed for 300hp and no more. The stock Z32 box sounds like a tougher unit.

    Rear Left

what size of wheel are they? I'm going to try to fit some 17x9 Cogra R wheels front and back. Are yours that big?
  13. I finally have finished the adapter to hook up a T56 6 speed to the VH45DE block. Now working on the flywheel adapter and release bearing spacer. See my Cardomain website for more pics. Let me know what you think. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/563982
  14. Bully Clutch told me that if I bought thier stg III Z32TT clutch he would put a T56 hub on the disc no charge. The clutch ass is about $650USD. http://www.bullyclutch.com/
  15. I concur with JT1 that the Kumhos are the quicker tire of the 2, but the Toyo is a great street tire. We have converted several of our club members to use these as thier street tires on thier Z cars. These cars generally don't see much more then 3000K miles/season so by the time they are worn out on the 3rd yr they should be getting new rubber anyways. The mistake some where doing is buying good higher performance tires but 4 yrs later found themselves with allot of thread left on the tire, but a very hard tire that was scary in the wet. If you wnat to go fast the Kumho is the way to go. Best bang for the buck if you are running timed events. The hoosiers are just too short lived.
  16. They quoted me about the same price as thier Z32TT stage III ~650.00 USD
  17. I was planning on using a TT assembly where I could get Bully Clutch ( http://www.bullyclutch.com/ ) to make me a custom disc with a Z32TT disc which would have the the proper T56 center hub section. They said it would be a simple thing to do.
  18. In this case I would need to move the flywheel closer to the block for the starter pinion to engage on the ring gear. Or I may need to find a starter with a longer nose. The T56 requires the starter be mounted on the engine not with the trans as in the Z32.

What does your oil pan look like? I'm converting a 240Z to a 450Z and was wondering if your pan would work for me. Let me know.
  20. After some issues with with my stage III Z32TT transmission I have decided to go with a bullet proof T56 trans. As you mentioned the flywheel bolts right up to the VH45DE crankshaft. But I have found that the starter is about 1/4" too short to fully engage on the ring gear! Is it the Fidenza aluminum flywheel or did yo also find this problem?
