  1. So as some of you have noticed, Beta motorsports is no more. Now im forced to find or make my own motor mounts. Do any of you know where I can get one made? I could probably make one myself at a friends house but I honestly don't feel like taking the time to do it. Let me know. Thanks, Ben
  2. Update. I just purchased a Z32 trans since I hear a ton of bad things about the R-154(mostly just shitty shifting). I found an adaptor plate that comes with a custom flywheel and clutch kit so I don't have much more that I need to buy. The biggest thing is going to be intercooler and piping! As soon as I get home in about 3 weeks I will do a huge picture dump. Till then take care guys!
  3. damn, I bet she flies with those mods. Plus you cant complain with that much hp, always going to have bad gas mileage.
  4. Anyone else have input on this? Curious what others have to say. Also Pat1 do you drive around like a bat outta hell or somewhat conservative? do you have a non vvti, and what upgrades do you have?
  5. No shit. Well I guess that's how they make great numbers on the dyno.
  6. Hey guys, I got into an argument with a co-worker about gas mileage the other day. I told him with a 1j vvti In a light 240 body I could easily get high 20's for MPG. He swears that ill be lucky to get 22 MPG. So this brings me to my question, what gas mileage are you guys getting with your swaps? Driving conservatively or even like a bat outta hell..... Let me know so I can win some money off this guy! lol
  7. There is a very extensive post on here. I also thought about doing this but after reading more into it decided it was not worth the trouble. Do a search for triple SU maybe and decide for yourself.
  8. So, not much new info to update on the thread. Doesn't help that I cant do actual work on this project since im 8K miles away from it. But I am trying to source a stock intake manifold. Maybe one of the JZ guys in this forum might have a spare they are willing to part with. My plans for funding this project have changed a little bit since the government shut down. And seeing as how that's where my paycheck comes from I decided to throttle back on the spending for this project and put some comas in my bank account. Its not a bad idea anyways, I was buying over kill parts anyways. Im going to buy a majority of the parts I need in the next month so when I get home they will be waiting for me. I want to get this done asap after I return home so there will be a ton of updates on this thread come December.
  9. ok so I guess I can put my foot in my mouth now. I ended up going with MS in the end. I did some research and their top of the line stuff (MS3-Pro) is pretty good, and will control the VVT-I no problem. One step closed to getting this thing running.
  10. Purchased a R200 CLSD! This should help put the power of my new motor to the ground.
  11. awesome, thanks for the info. I will definitely look into that.
  12. Mega squirt is totally fine for a L28ET but after putting all this money into what will be my daily I don't want to cut corners on something as important as Engine Management. Im a firm believer in "you get what you pay for".
  13. ok so on the 15th im going to buy a haltech ps2000 ECU. With that I will probably buy some 550cc injectors, I think they will be more than enough for my power goal of 450-500 whp. When I get those parts in I will post some more pics. I also am going to get a custom wire harness made by T'weaked performace. their wire harness' are clean as hell and they have a quick disconnect at the firewall. I'll keep you updated on anything new with this build. Progress is pretty slow right now because im stuck I Afghanistan, as soon as I get home though there will be some major progress.
  14. Got some pics of my lightweight fly wheel with water pump and oil pump. Soon ill buy the rest of the goodies needed but for now the machine shop has what they need. I have a question for you guy also. I am looking into what size injectors im going to use and im thinking of going with a bigger than stock maybe 650cc even though I don't have any major mods the motor, yet. I figure why not buy the bigger injectors now and when I upgrade the turbo I wont need to do the injectors at he same time. My question is will that cause any problems with the motor or will a tune solve that?
  15. I got some goodies in the mail! Have a few more things that just showed up in the mail that I will post maybe tomorrow. Hopefully I can get some pics from the machine shop soon. Once I get some more info I will keep you guys posted.
  16. still much more than I want to spend. I am getting out of the military and going back to school so I don't want to waste a ton of my savings before I get out. How about the AEM 30-6050? I was told it works very well with the VVTI, any input from you guys? Also I will post pics of the machine work as soon as I can. Still trying to get a few things to them to finish up the rebuild of the motor. Going to be a fresh block when it goes in my Z
  17. That's what I have been told. I just don't like the price of the PS2000 but I would rather do it right the first time.
  18. Hey, I am looking for a Haltech PS2000 EMS. Message me if you know of one for sale or have one. Thanks
  19. What EMS is everyone running? I was going to use Haltech PS1000 but the guys making my wire harness said that the PS2000 is more suited for the 1jz VVTi, any thoughts from you guys?
  20. Normally I would agree with you but this motor was already taken apart. I figured it would be a smart move to increase the longevity of the 1jz to just refresh it while I have it in pieces. Right now money isn't too big of a concern but im getting out of the military soon and going back to school so money will soon be scarce and I want to get it running and reliable before I lose my steady paycheck.
  21. Ok update, I have located a VVTI head and it should be in my possession by this weekend. I plan on putting in all new bearings, rings and arp bolts before I put the motor into my car. Hopefully I can get all that done before I deploy, if not then I will update this thread when I return the Afghanistan and make some more progress on this project.
  22. I am more than willing to buy one of these. I have money in hand and seriously want this!! keep us updated please.
  23. I am looking for a 1JZ VVTI head to finnish up my motor swap. Please let me know if you have one or know someone who does. Thanks Ben
  24. Hey everyone i am working on putting together a 1JZ VVTI '73 240Z and i was looking for a few parts to complete the motor. I know i should post my WTB's in the classified part of the forum but posting in this forum might be a little more productive. As of right now i am looking for a 1jz VVTI head also if you have a spare one i need a trans. i have all the acessories and the block so this is all i need to complete the motor and put it into my 240. Please let me know if you guys can get your hands on one for me. Thanks, Ben
