  1. Ok, I watched your video. Your lock is doing EXACTLY what mine was doing. Pull the lever off the back of your lock cylinder. Either the cam lobe (or tab) is worn, or the end of the lock cylinder that catches the tab is worn. If it's the lever, you'll need to replace it (which is what I had to do). If it's the part of the cylinder end that goes into the lever, you can put in a real thin washer between it and the lever. This issue was brought on on classiczcars: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37484&highlight=lock
  2. The lock cylinders are interchangeable. It's the lever that is clipped on that is not. The 77-78's do not have the rods, so are easier to clean up, and no adjustments are needed. I'd try pushing the lock button down and see where it's binding. Also try locking and unlocking with the key. I'd think you'd be able to see if anything is binding up. It definitely looks like everything in there needs a good cleaning & lubing. Not sure if this applies to your Z, but on the 77-78's, its the lever that is clipped on the lock cylinder that usually wears out. There is a cam lobe on the lever. That lobe wears down to the point where it might not catch to lock or unlock. On your setup, one of those rods is probably binding up or slightly bent. I'd play around with it since you have access now.
  3. Nice looking car. Did you fab the led's? What size rims/tires are you using? Would like to see more pics!
  4. Thanks Skib. The picture (with flash) doesn't do it justice. I'm trying to figure out why the horn won't work. It APPEARS everything is there. I even replaced the grounding wire. The horn worked fine with the 280 wheel. Do you remember if, in your opinion, that everything needed for the 240 wheel was there?
  5. Yup. I think the Prius owners who had brake or gas pedal problems shouldn't be driving ANY vehicle (well maybe them bumper cars at the fair). My first car was a '64 Plymouth Satellite 383 with dual quads. I was rip-roaring around, and my gas pedal fell to the floor. Instantly I was doing over 130. I simply turned my key OFF, coasted off the road, popped the hood, and found my throttle return spring had broke off. I chuckle at these people who can't figure out how to stop their cars. Pop it in neutral. DOH!
  6. Thanks! Now if I can only figure out why the horn won't work. It did with the 280 wheel. It doesn't appear anything is missing on the 240 wheel. I even replaced the grounding wire on it. Crap.
  7. I never liked the looks of the 280 steering wheel. Seemed like they belong more in the Datsun pickups then the S30's. So I bought a 240 wheel (thanks Skib), refinished it, and put her in today. Here's my Z with the old 280 wheel: And here's how it looks today:
  8. Since I don't know how often Michael checks his personal email, I'd just call their 800# to find out.
  9. $80K because it is rust-free
  10. Hey Marty & EvilC, I called their 800 number the other day to see if mine was shipped yet. It was not, so I was able to order some other misc. Z parts, and have them include it in the same box as the spoiler (no additional shipping). I asked if the group buy for HBZ was still in effect. The guy on the phone (not Michael) said yes. They just needed a minimum of 10 orders to get started. Since they are still making the spoilers, they will take more HBZ orders for now. I'd call the 800-633-6331 and identify yourself as wanting in on the HybridZ group buy.
  11. Sounds like something is binding up or bent, or even broke. I'd take the door panel off and see what is keeping the knob from going down. Maybe you'll be lucky and just need to straighten the linkage, clean everything up, and give it a good lube job (white grease).
  12. If you pull up on the outside handle, push the lock button down, and close the door with the outside handle still up, it should lock.
  13. Personally, I can think of alot of other "pocket parts" instead of fuses. Fuses are cheap. As we should ALL have learned by now, just because a fuse LOOKS good D.M.S. Two bucks for J.Y. fuses? You can buy a box of new ones for not much more. Wait a minute... I have a buttload of fuses I'll sell ya for $1.50 each... you'll save 50 cents each over the junkyard fuses
  14. I'm sure he was joking (the "lol" at the end was a clue)
  15. I've run mine up to about 6200. I could probably go higher, but don't feel the need to as the power bank is well below that. Besides, I don't feel like blowing her up just to see how high I can go. Not until I feel the need for a V-8
  16. I have relatives in Michigan. Does that count
  17. Glad you figured it out, and cheap too. Just because a fuse may "look good", doesn't mean it is.
  18. I'll be interested in watching your progess. Keep posting pics, and keep up the good work
