  1. Funny and scary. Somebody watches too much television.
  2. Kofi "I got millions from the Iraqi Oil for Food program" Annan declaring something is "probably illegal" is like Tony Soprano saying "crime doesn't pay."
  3. The 2008 Hillary Clinton/Al Sharpton ticket doesn't stand a chance against the 2008 John McCain/Rudy Giuliani ticket.
  4. You're either a fool or a drunk!
  5. Even the acronyms get lost in translation I checked and the Irish Republican Army is not listed on the New York Stock Exchange, but it might be listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (big Irish diaspora in Chicago).
  6. What I think screwed up all the broadcasters was the early exit polling. It indicated a Kerry landslide and they ALL (including Fox) went with that story for the first hour or two of their broadcasts. Then, as the results started coming in, some broadcasters had difficulty admitting that the exit polling was wrong (again!) and were looking for anything to back up their first opinions. I do give them credit for being very conservative in calling the states. They were much more careful then in 2000. But, I guess they need to stop relying on exit polls. Exit polling failed in 2000, completely collapsed in 2002, and failed again in 2004. Hopefully Kerry is gracious in defeat, unlike Edwards who ran out and inferred that it was time to bring out the lawyers. I also hope the Bush is gracious in victory.
  7. Funny, even though I voted for Bush, I'm wasn't particularly happy. But, then I looked at the stock market! My IRA just gained a bunch
  8. No more so then the lying and abuse the Aussie press foisted on you folks trying to defeat Howard.
  9. You guys are right. Basically you're allowed .5 over what's listed in the ITCS - which for the 2.8L engine is 8.3:1. Max allowed would be 8.8:1.
  10. Those ITS engines are all built to the max CR allowed: 9.5:1. That number is reached with head milling, projector tip spark plugs, and other tricks.
  11. A well prepared ITS or BSP spec 2.8L engine (stock cam, stock head, stock pistons, headers, SU carbs, unmodified intake) will make 200 hp on an engine dyno which works out to about the whp number mentioned above. A well prepared E Production 2.8L engine makes about 250 to 260hp on an engine dyno. That's with 12:1 CR, slightly modified heads, special cam, headers, modified intake and SUs, and other simple performance mods. A cheap parts rebuilt 2.8L with a cam, head work, etc. will be lucky to equal the power of the well prepared ITS spec 2.8L that used stock internals. Throwing parts at an engine to increase horsepower rarely works.
  12. Tell that to Eisenhower, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Nixon, Clinton, Ford, Truman, Bush Sr., Reagan, Wilson, and almost every officer in our military. It does take some big nutts to order someone into a mission that will result in death. To infer that Bush did this out of some kind of bravado or macho with no regard to the casualties is an irrational, emotional arguement.
  13. I got in a heated arguement with someone over the weekend regarding this topic. The basic arguement comes down to this: "The Iraq war is illegal because there was no declaration of war and it did not receive the support of the United Nations." Regarding the declaration of war arguement: Regarding the requirement that, because the US is a signatory to the UN Charter, it cannot fight a war unless the US authorizes the use of force: The Iraq War is LEGAL by all definitions of the US Constitution and by Legistlative Act.
  14. Oops, sorry. I forgot about the 86-1811 stock replacement inserts. Are they still available new from Koni? When inserts are installed correctly they do stick out about 1/8" from the top of the tube. The gland packing nut is supposed to tighten down against the insert, not the strut tube.
  15. Unfortunately, none of those stories are true. Spend some time searching here: http://www.snopes.com
  16. Are you trying to install the double adjustable Koni 8611 or the single adjustable 8610? If you're doing the 8611, which part number (there are three different 8611s)? If you're installing the 8610s, here's a writeup: http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=25481 FYI... I've measured the stock ID of the 240Z strut tubes at 1.70" +/- .010" depending on the level of corrosion, damage, etc. You will have to ream the ID to fit pretty much any of the 8611 double adjustables. The 8611 that best fits the travel requirements of the 240Z is the 8611-1256 but its OD is 1.79" You will have to take .010" off the inside of the strut tube and clean up any welding you do after shortening to get those units to fit.
  17. "Cracks all over it" and "$220 to fix" doesn't seem to compute (at least to me). If it really has cracks all over it I would think it would cost much more then $220 to disassemble, groove, pre-heat, weld, cool down, and machine. Find another head and only repair this one as a last resort.
  18. A number of race normally aspirated VG30s were making over 400hp in various configurations during the 1980s.
  19. I hear this type of discounting from both sides and I think its just a way of ignoring the content. Just because an author has a bias doesn't mean what they say is wrong. (FYI... I'm not defending this particular article or any pioint of view.) You may not agree with Bill O'Rielly or Michael Moore, but sometimes both are right. Discounting anything they say is just a way of ignoring views contrary to your own. Nope. I posted it because it contrasted with some of my views and it made me think.

  21. The one with the better handling car that allows the driver to get on the throttle sooner in the corner.
  22. No opposition at all. Pound's hood style is his. I won't make a hood that looks like that 'cuz it was his idea. Unlike politicians and Microsoft, a small business cannot succeed by tearing down other small businesses. Their markets are too small and everyone knows everyone else. Word gets around quickly, both positive and negative, and a reputation is pretty much all a small business has to live by.
  23. My guess is that the RX7 prop valve looks at the pressure differential between the front and rear brakes, that's why the RF brake line is plumbed that way. If you want to simplify the brake plumbing, run the RF directly to the RF caliper and install a Tilton adjustable prop valve back to the rear brakes.
  24. Its actually $950 optioned as you list. (648 + 194 +108) Nope, you need to drill and tap 6 holes on the hood itself. We didn't do that because the position of the holes will determine fitment and EVERY Z its a little bit different. Most of the CF hoods I've sold have been to racers who don't need the inner frame or the ability to mount to the stock hinges. The couple I've sold for the street have been fiberglass with a layer of CF on top. That hood runs $475 but doesn't have Pound's cool hood scoop. FYI... I'm not trying to say, "Buy my hood..." Pound's hood is cool and I like the SS scoop, it fits the look of the Z very well. If you like that style, buy it. I just took a little exception to his builder saying there isn't anything else out there.
  25. I'll have a price only after I build one. I'm shooting for under $500 for a fiberglass hood with a layer of CF on the top to give that CF look. Vents will be up to the buyer. It should be fairly easy to cut them using a Rotozip.
