Chris have you looked at the new *370z*?
very different headlight design.. similar to this new concept z.
I think I have, does it look like this:
If so, I don't like it much at all.
-
Sorry about the report guys!
-
Here is an interesting independent 240z design that merges it basically with the GT-R. Thoughts?
-
Well it is up to you. If you need my help at all, just let me know!
-
Do you have a picture of the wheel Wizard and the distortion? Have you contacted Kim? I would advise talking to the representative before driving on the wheel if it appears to be deformed.
-
chico what offset are your wheels??
Thanks Mate
Ben
If they are the 17x9" front and 17x9.5" rear as he mentioned then the offsets are minus 13 front and minus 19 rear. (-13 and -19)
All 17x9" in thus group buy are -13. All 17x9.5" are -19.

Hey Nate, send me the inventor file for your crankshaft. I want to see how you built it and play around with some ideas myself if it is indeed to the correct SBF dimensions.
-
Well hypothetically if you had 500lbs of force on the right and the left rear tires static lets say. You take it into a corner at maybe it becomes 350lbs on the inside and 650lbs on the outside. With the addition of a single piece wing, say 450lbs inside and 750lbs outside. With this split wing you obtain only the benefit on the inside tire... So 450lbs and 650lbs. Which is better then? The 450lbs inside and 750lbs outside or the 450lbs inside and 650lbs outside? My intuition would say the former. I also realize that it would probably be more like 475lbs inside and 625lbs outside, but for simplicities sake...

"Nothing new under the sun.........."
April 1968. Nissan R381 sports car. Split-element, hydraulically-actuated rear 'stabiliser' wing, reactive to speed, cornering forces and braking.
Raced. Won. Banned.........
In this case is the idea that the wing is more of an air brake than a down force generator?
If the idea is to brake on the inside to generate a moment, then I can understand the purpose of such a piece, but why not make it independent of the wing. Hmmm.
-
I still don't see this as beneficial. I could be wrong though. Why not let the ARB do the ARB's job and then just go for max down force? Why throw away down force that otherwise would cause the outside tire to generate more traction?
-
I don't understand how this wing generates MORE down force by lowering itself on the side of the outside wheel. I would think it would generate LESS down force in this case. Can anyone help me to understand this one?

I got an email from Kim as well regarding the wheels, i'm stoked, can't wait to get back home in the U.S. which is probably gonna be perfect timing. My question is, does anyone know where to get the ZG flares? I know that there's a group buy for the really wide ones. I just don't want to buy the flares and end up being the wrong ones...
Thanks fellas.
Got mine here:

Doesn't look very rigid, but I know very little about non-unibody cars. Impressive, although I don't like the use of so much welding when parts like the hinges could simply be CNC'd.

Any idea if the lip of the 17x9 -13 is more than the 17x8.5 +4?
This I do not know... It depends if the 17x8.5" is RB or RB-R. The RB lips are ~3" on both front and rear. The RB-R is approximately ~3" rear and probably ~2.5" front. That is to say the RB-R has a little less lip up front and equal in the rear due to the nature of the concave design.
-
Ah, so the pressure is more typically due to the increased temperature of the air charge? That seems to make sense, thanks!
-
This is a more general question. When doing a compression test, how is it possible to achieve 240psi or so with only 11.5:1 compression? Is this due to discrepancies in gauges? I would think 14.7*11.5 = 170psi would be the max compression the engine could generate, but I have heard of numbers closer to the 220-240lb range. Why is this? Thanks!

How would the YZ flares work with these? Too big?
Justin
I would suspect them to be too large based off of the photos I have seen. You might have luck getting an answer to the question by either emailing reaction research or possibly Dan Juday who happens to have a set of YZ's on the rear of his build.
I GOT AN EMAIL BACK!!!! finally. anyway, he said he would call me when my wheels are ready! im f'n stoked. thanks chris.Glad to hear it!
Anyone else out there who has NOT received an email in a relatively timely manor? I know his replies can be a bit cursory, but at the end of the day I have all the confidence that the wheels will arrive here appropriately.
I JUST landed in Rome, Italy about 3 hours ago. I will be here until the 20th of August, so if my replies are a bit latent, you know why. Feel free to continue to post inquiries and PM me though. Just don't expect them back within 12 hours.

Nice Enkei's! What is the spec on those? 17x8? 17x9?
-
i emailed them friday just waiting on them to confirm abd what not. im ready for these wheels. i bought from them before but i wanted to make sure they do paypal to.
I didn't know he accepted paypal. That is news to me. Let us know if he in fact does.

I would assume that the representative is trying to process a large number of orders and probably has not been working over the weekend and consequently has not responded to all your emails. I am sure the representative wants money just as badly as you all want wheels. I will call him tomorrow if you guys don't start receiving emails by then.
Remember, the wheels are already on order in the four colors I mentioned before. 10 sets of each color. I don't think there is much to do right now but wait. I know everyone is very anxious to get their order through and receive the wheels, but it isn't going to come any faster. I do understand though that the representative can be difficult to deal with and his responses are not 'instant', but please do hold tight and refrain from overloading him with emails about why he has not responded. Thanks guys!

Wouldn't one be mounting this setup transversely anyway for space reasons. In which case, does it matter if it is V4, I4, V6 or V8.
-
So,.. now he IS ordering colors without the minimum of 10 orders ahead of time? I saw you listed gold... #%*$#@ !!!
Yes... I explained this in a few posts. He was unwilling to order more RB's due to the up and coming RB-R release. The original two colors of RB he ordered (20) was also before he had confirmed a minimum of 10 people...

What's the deadline for these? I haven't been paid in a month, and I think now is the time to tell them to fork over their own money and pay me before I take it to legal.
There is no deadline at the moment per se - but it is first come first serve. The representative has ordered 40 sets in 4 colors and will be ordering more as he starts to run out or as demand increases. If a color runs out and you order it, you may be waiting a little while longer. Eventually I would assume prices would rise as well, but I do not know when that will be, maybe far off future, maybe a few months.
-
From a ordering point, are all the initial wheels on order intending to be sold as stagered sets? I would like to order 9.5" front and rear. Just wondering if I'm going to have to wait longer because of this.
Justin
Ahh! I see. This is a good question, shoot the rep an email or I can ask him on Monday.
Rota RB/RB-R, 4x114.3, 17", Z-Offset Wheels

Hmmm. That is unfortunate. In my tests I don't think the tire was that close. What angle are your control arms at statically? Flat or pointing down?
I called the rep. and he is going to get back to me on the current status of the RB-R.
Does everyone have this fender clearance issue or just the two of you?
