  1. Funny, I came across this site a few days ago while searching for S13 suspension set-up specs for the track. All I could think was...cool:bling:..why wouldnt it be traingulated to something? And then bart628 comes up with his pic.

Im confused, jmortenson says...Since the weight is moved when the suspension is moved it doesn't become part of the sprung weight and remains unsprung.

Are you trying to say the opposite? ..become part of the unsprung weight and remains sprung.

As I see it the unsprung weigh is reduced....your not moving the entire spring, strut housing, strut...etc. Just compressing the spring and moving the piston off a rod and cam. :hs:...yes?

  2. LOL...I guess you need to try and get one. Go to a local metal mart (or such)......they have all sorts of cut offs.

I would do that but i dont have the pipe or the tube
  3. WOW...you painted the inside of your tank with floor paint! Lesson learned.

Drop the tank, remove all that paint and seal it properly. You may have to take it to a gas tank repair shop and have it boiled out. But whatever you do...dont coat over the current mess with Por15. You will probably have adhesion problems and your problems will continue.

Just a thought.......Paint stripper may work.....test it on a small area to see what happens. If it reacts pour it in and slosh it around, rinse well and then seal it a with proper film.

  4. You are refering to galvanic corrosion and I dont belive it to be an issue here. Im a chemist by training but dont apply much of that any more....that was once upon ago.......

Firstly our cars , gas tanks and so forth are painted so there is "insulation".

As importantly you require an electrolyte to initiate and maintain this reaction...ie water. The Ions need something to travel through and must be in constant contact for severe corrosion to occure. I know my car isnt wet all the time!....

There are other factors, one of which is the level of current that is produced. In this case there is much less SS than Steel so the current towards the SS would be small, resulting inlittle ion transfer. ...see this link for a detailed explanation...

    http://www.ssina.com/corrosion/galvanic.html

This would explain why people use SS nuts and bolts on their auto projects without problems......

Bottom line, Im not concerned but you need to make your own decison.

On that note....10 sets are on order. As soon as they are made sets will be allocated on a first pay basis.

    Cheers!

  5. Agreed! But if your dash is cracked smacked and pooched..and you dont care .what's it matter. There have been a few real cool dash hybridz...right down to a 350Z dash.

one of the best things about the Z is the design of the dash. You just dont see that retro look anymore. I dont really know why u'd want to ruin that look... It's like throwing a body kit on a jag e-type to make it look modern....
  6. For now it will be up to the user.

But ...I can be convinced to come up with something as long as it covers my cost. Not a big problem.

In my case I used an Bike interube.

jerry, do you have a plan for material to use where the rubber on the oem straps is adhered or is that something for the buyer to source on their own?

very nice and the price appears to be very reasonable as well.

looking forward to the final product pics.

  7. OK...the price for SS straps will be.....$75.00US per set (2).

And a set of steel straps will be $65.00

They will be improved upon over the first set made. Everything will be laser cut and tig welded, and the L-brakets are designed closer yet to the originals. As soon as the improved version is completed I will have pictures posted.

At this point NISSAN has not confirmed J-bolt availability. but they have priced it at $16.00 each.

I will have 10 SS sets made up over the next couple of weeks and make them available for purchase soon after. Shipping will be extra and actual cost + materials. No handling.

    What do you think?
