  1. Im not a NASCAR fan but have to admit I enjoyed watching this years All Star Race, the format was better.

I've been at a couple of races, including a truck race in Texas and found it boring. I had more fun watching the rednecks get drunk and stupid.

Im sure it cant be easy but I just dont find it very interesting.

  2. As I say ..if you have the money and can afford it....whats the harm, go for it.

But it is a lot of money for something that can be restored to nearly as good as new with a bit of elbow grease. When I frst rebuilt my car I sperated the lens from the gray back and polished it up to "like" new with polish. Ya...it took me about 4 hours per lens...butit didnt cost very much. A few supplies, a couple of beer and a sun tan!

  3. What mirrors is that car from?

LOL...As usual very informative Alan! Amazing tidbits, were do you archive this stuff from??

    Gentlemen,

A full, comprehensive and accurate answer to the original question was given in post #14.

The only thing missing now is an acknowledgement from the person who asked the question, but perhaps it would not be wise to hold one's breath...... LOL.

( "HS30-H is an unknown quantity at this point" according to HybridZ )

  4. FYI...I found these but did not call for availability.

Also discovered that MOPARS used very similar looking j bolts. Of course they are not metric but....so what, they are cheap and may work just fine.

2 set of straps left from the first batch.....

  5. So to prevent another meltdown I will be installing bigger injectors from a RB26 which are 440cc low impedence (free....laying around). However the KAe runs high impedence.

Which resistors do I require to make them work....10 watt 10 ohm ?

Do I understand this correctly..... if I wire the correct resistors in line...on the negative side?....they will work without problem but Im not very clear on this type of stuff.

    Thanx in advance

  6. Brakes are one of those ...while your at it tasks.....read on...

Overall brakes are pretty easy to change. A few bolts is all that holds it together. Get a piston spreader....they push the pistons back into the caliper to make room for the new pads. Harbor frieght should have them cheap.

And yes while your at it regrease the bearings or change them altogether if they dont spin smoothly.

While your down there check the flexible lines to make sure they are not cracked. You may be very surprised and want to put new ones on!

And if you dont know how old the brake fluid is (usualy in there for years!!!) while your at it change it all togther and bleed the system. It will make a huge difference.

While Im at this did I mention a quick peak at the rears? If the fronts are down......

And while your at it might as well change the clutch fluid as its the same slippery fluid.

The first time you do all this it will be slow(er)...but thats all part of this activity we call a hobby. You will just have to learn and work the correct squence. But when your finished you will be all warm and fuzzy inside thinking about all the money you saved.

I can do it all in 2 - 3 hours if Im prepared....and Im all thumbs !

    GO4IT!

The installed piece is a the plastic version removed from my other motor. I will buy a metal unit before reassembly....just an FYI.

Why do they break? Plastic is weak or does the chain get loose and slaps against the guild? I will clean the tensioner just in case its blocked.

  8. Great news Raff....I will hunt down the metal pieces. Thanx for checking.

ANNNNND... already have the L28 turbo pump ready to go in!!

So yeah, those pieces might sit there in the bottom of the pan and do nothing for thousands of miles. Or they might not.

I believe this is the case with this KA. It has been a DD for the last 2 years, but the fellow didnt drive it hard. He couldnt....the exhaust manifold was bolted on with 3 of 8 bolts and the stock intake piping was full of holes. Im surprised it drove at all!!!

Its going into my track car so its just as well I found it....the compression is 150 on all 4 cylinders and I want this little block to last longer than one event!
