  1. Jerry,

Which exhaust manifold did you use?

Could you post some pictures of your engine bay that show the manifold and how close the turbo is to your brake master cylinder and booster?

I used the Gladman manifold. A fellow from www.ka-t.org makes them. Its a cast log unit, pretty decently made and I bought mine from ebay for about $250. The turbo hangs down and the only fit problem I had to deal with was to turn the engine mount around 180 degrees. Otherwise the Z31 turbo would not fit. He was surprised so my guess is it wont fit large turbos. I also have a couple of RB20 turbos and plan to try one after I test the car as it sits.

If you visit thei KA-T site they have a few other options now.

Im traveling on business right now and will take a few pics for you this weekend.

  2. Im just starting on my tank and have a question...is your tank a 240 or 280? The top contours are slightly different than mine and the ring sits over the edge of my tank. If you have a 240 tank is it modified to fit the ring?

Also....does anyone know of a proven design that can be used to build a "black box". It cant be so hard..its a small box...but the hinge doors are my concern. The doors alone cost over $90 from ATL. Im wondering if some other kind of hing would work. Not to oversimplfy this but what if SS door hinges were attached to the inside of a SS box? This would allow flow in but not out......

I have lots of sheet material and a brake I can use to build this box....just need a few ideas for the hinged doors. Any suggestions are appreciated.

1 Tuff Z/Monzster...you used the black box and have that touchy feely exposure to the ATL unit. Are the ATL hinges on a spring? What do you think of this idea?

here are some of my pics. they look nearly the same as monzter's. filled up today, no leaks [thankfully] and so far so good...

here's a shot of the tank [w/o the cap]. the an fittings are for feed [top] and return [bottom]. i used a 1/4 cold rolled steel plate and had an oval cnc'd that provided the form to shape the tank around and the cap to bolt to.

top shot-shows the atl black box mounted to the added baffle.

here's a 'final product' pic. gave it a quick flat black rattle can job but ran out of paint before i could hit the top-figured no one sees the top anyway and i'll deal with it later...

  3. OK.......I am a BlaZt distributor. You didnt need to hack the plug, you could have bought a new in car connector from us.

I need you to check the following...when you try to start the car does the power continue to the consult plug? It sounds like you may not be hooked up to a constant power source.

It's the blatz odb1 consult cable, i had to hack the plug because i have no odb1 plug on my harness.
  4. Gotcha!!

    FYI...just stumbled upon this....

A lot of $$ but interesting.

lol all i did was basicaly what kiwi said i cut the two flanges and spun them 90 degrees so they mate up with the rb20/25 head. I will keep an eye out for some smaller ones if they dont spool good but i think they will be fine. if you want i can get some close up pics
  5. Go for it!

An amazing little car that I always wanted to own.

In my quest to become the dumbest man alive I've decided to look into purchasing yet another project car... that car is a 1971 BMW 2002.

I had one many years ago that was destroyed by an individual of supreme ignorance (despite what you think I'm not speaking of myself.) and have recently come across one missing the engine and trans (I'm thinking M20 swap) replacement parts prices are among the most absurdly over priced I've ever encountered so I'm looking for a bit of wisdom from current and previous owners on the potential pit falls of 02 ownership for daily driving duties.

This car is in need of love, lots of it, but since I was considering buying a new car this year i'm thinking that I can take that monthly payment and have something that's not going to depreciate as soon as I drive (or tow) it home.

224$ for a brake master cylinder? crazy talk.

    thanks

  6. He is linked now.............:mrgreen::mrgreen:...I asked him a question.........:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Lets have some fun with him......perhaps all of us should ask him a question?

:lmao: WOW! Real pice of work.

Has anyone shown or linked him this thread?

Amazing! I wonder where he came up with that figure of $249,000? Must be those "experts" who are all knowing in the realm of the illustrious 260-ZX... :lmao:

  7. NISSAN DATA SCAN does not work with APEXI or any other stand alone ECU as all the addresses are different. I distribute these and cant run the software on my RB20DET due to the very reason. But it will work on rechipped ECUs like JW. Contact me off this thread if you are interested.

This is pretty amazing. What does the software cost? And does it come with a cable that plugs into the cars computer or similar? Can it be used with Apexi?

    regards
